After Sierra, now Tata is preparing to make a splash with Project 'Garuda', the year 2026 will be very special.

Last Updated:

Tata Motors made a record in booking of Sierra, in 2026 Tata will launch many models including Nexon, Sierra EV, Harrier, Safari Petrol, Punch facelift. Tata Nexon is currently counted among the most popular cars in India. Considering its popularity, the company can give it special upgrades so that more and more buyers can be attracted.

New Delhi. Tata Motors has adopted an aggressive product strategy for the Indian market. The new Sierra created a huge buzz even before its official price was announced and garnered over 70,000 bookings within 24 hours of the booking window opening. And this is just the beginning, as the native automaker has several new product launches planned for 2026, including the Sierra EV, Harrier and Safari petrol SUVs, Punch facelift and the new generation Nexon.

Tata's Project Garuda
The next generation Tata Nexon (codenamed Project 'Garuda') is expected to debut in late 2026 or early 2027. Official information will be revealed near its launch. At present, not much information has been revealed about the 2026 Tata Nexon but some details have definitely been revealed about this SUV.

New platform and design language
This time a big change will be seen in its architecture. The next generation Nexon will be based on a completely new platform, which may be a modified version of the existing X1 architecture. This platform supports many body styles and advanced technology. Big changes can be seen inside and outside also. The new 2026 Tata Nexon will come with the company's new design language and design elements can be taken from the company's latest models.

Will diesel engine be available or not?
There is likely not to be much change in the engine setup. The new 2026 Tata Nexon will get the existing 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine, which generates power of 120PS and torque of 170Nm. However, it is not clear whether the 1.5 liter diesel engine will be available in the next generation or not, as it may change due to the upcoming BS7 emission norms. CNG fuel option will remain available as before.

price increase decided
Considering the cosmetic changes, feature upgrades and mechanical improvements, the price of the new 2026 Tata Nexon may see a significant increase. The price of the current model starts from Rs 7.32 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices of the new Nexon can start from around Rs 8 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 17 lakh for the top variant.

This 'Chhotu' car made a big splash in the Indian market, all the units were sold as soon as it was launched.

New Delhi. Mini's new lifestyle car has made a strong entry in the Indian market. The first batch of the recently launched Mini Cooper S Convertible was completely sold out within just one day of its launch, which clearly shows that despite the premium price and limited practicality, the demand for cars made for special and enthusiasts is increasing rapidly. The ex-showroom price of this car is Rs 58.50 lakh and currently it is the cheapest convertible car in India. Mini has confirmed that all of the initial batch of units were sold out in just 24 hours. With demand exceeding supply, dealerships have now started taking pre-orders for the second batch, which is expected to reach India in early 2026. This model is being sold as a fully imported CBU.

Convertible booms in SUV market
Selling out so quickly is also special because SUVs dominate the Indian market and cars like the Cooper S Convertible generally prioritize driving fun and design over practicality. Despite this, its success is similar to that of limited edition cars like the Skoda Octavia RS and Volkswagen Golf GTI, which were sold out immediately after launch. At the same time, some premium imported SUVs like Volkswagen Tiguan R Line are not able to find buyers despite huge discounts.

Engine and Power
Mini Cooper S Convertible has a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 204bhp power and 300Nm torque. It has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which supplies power to the front wheels. This car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds and its top speed is around 240 km/h. Keeping in mind its sporty identity, it has a perfect combination of fast performance, compact size and excellent handling.

Electrically Operated Fabric Roof
The highlight of this convertible is its electrically operated fabric roof, which opens completely in 18 seconds and closes in 15 seconds, that too in a car moving at a speed of 30 km/hr. It also has a partial 'sunroof' mode, which provides flexibility. Inside the cabin, there is a combination of modern technology with retro design, which includes premium features like central OLED touchscreen (Mini OS 9), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, head-up display, powered front seats with massage function for the driver, ambient lighting and Harman Kardon sound system.

Changing preferences of buyers
The instant sell-out of the first batch shows that buyer preferences are changing in the high-end market, where emotional appeal, exclusivity and driving fun are becoming more important than traditional things like space and body style. There is demand for the second batch as well, which clearly shows that the Mini Cooper S Convertible has firmly established itself as a stylish lifestyle car on Indian roads.

5 cars with radar-based ADAS that make driving in dense fog easier

  • Radar-based ADAS uses radio waves to detect vehicles in fog, making these five cars safer and more confidence-inspiring in low visibility.

When visibility on Indian roads is reduced due to dense fog in winter, radar-based ADAS-equipped cars like the XUV700 provide added reassurance. (HT Auto/Sabyasachi Dasgupta)

Anyone who has been through the winter fog of North India knows how quickly visibility can drop to just a few metres. In such situations, a car's safety technology matters as much as good headlights and steady hands on the wheel. This is where radar-based ADAS have a clear advantage over camera-only systems.

Unlike cameras, which rely on visible light and struggle in fog, radar uses radio waves that can pass through fog and moisture. Sensors continuously measure the distance and speed of oncoming vehicles, feeding this data to systems like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. While ADAS is never a substitute for driver attention, radar-assisted systems remain more reliable when visibility is poor.

Here are five cars sold in India with radar-based Level 2 ADAS that can make driving in dense fog a little less stressful:

The newly launched Tata Sierra enters the mid-size SUV segment with a focus on safety and technology. The Sierra is equipped with Level 2 ADAS, which includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane keep assist functions that rely on radar and camera fusion.

Engine options include petrol and diesel units, with the power figure going up to around 158 bhp depending on the variant. Sierra is priced below Harrier From Rs 11.49 Lakh Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom). With its high seating position and modern safety technology, the Sierra is targeted at buyers who want everyday utility with added confidence in poor visibility.

Kia has recently unveiled its new generation Seltos. However, the variants sold earlier also came packing the Level 2 ADAS suite. Higher variants get radar-assisted features including adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance and lane keeping system.

The highlight is the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces around 157 bhp, while a naturally aspirated petrol option is also available. Prices range from from 10.8 lakhs Rs 19.8 lakh (ex-showroom). For highway commuters who often encounter fog while driving early in the morning, the Seltos' ADAS package adds a reassuring safety net.

Hyundai's Creta remains a benchmark in the SUV sector, and its SmartSense ADAS suite cements that position. This system combines radar and cameras to enable adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.

The Creta is offered with multiple powertrains, including a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 157 bhp. Ex-showroom prices currently sit between 10.7 lakh more 20.2 lakh. In dense fog, the Creta's radar-based distance monitoring works quietly in the background, stepping in only when needed.

The XUV700 was one of the first mass-market Indian SUVs to offer radar-based Level 2 ADAS, and it remains one of the most widely implemented in its price range.

The petrol version of this SUV produces around 197 bhp, while the diesel goes up to around 182 bhp, making it one of the most powerful cars on this list. XUV700 prices range from from 13.6 lakhs Rs 23.7 lakh (ex-showroom). Features like Smart Pilot Assist and emergency braking are especially useful on foggy expressways where sudden deceleration is common.

Radar-based ADAS is no longer limited to SUVs, and the Hyundai Verna proves that point. The sedan gets radar-assisted SmartSense ADAS on higher trims, which includes adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning.

Its 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine produces around 157 bhp, making the Verna one of the fastest cars in its segment. With prices starting from Going up to Rs 10.7 lakh and Rs 16.9 lakh (ex-showroom), it offers radar-based safety technology in a lower, more aerodynamic body style.

conclusion

Radar-based ADAS does not magically eliminate the risks of driving in fog, and it does not replace careful driving. But when visibility is reduced and reaction time matters, radar gives the car a more reliable way to “see” what's going to happen ahead. For Indian conditions, especially winter highways, these systems can make a meaningful difference when used responsibly to help avoid accidents.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited records production of 35 lakh units of Maruti WagonR, swivel seat option introduced with TRUEAssist for senior citizens. Wagon R was launched in India in 1999 and in Japan earlier in 1993. Since then till now it has remained India's favorite hatchback.

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved the milestone of production of a total of 35 lakh units in three generations of its very popular hatchback WagonR. Maruti WagonR, launched in December 1999, has crossed this tremendous achievement along with Alto and Swift. At present, this car is manufactured in the company's plants located in Gurugram and Manesar (Haryana). Even after so many years of launch, it is the most popular hatchback in India.

Launched in Japan in 1993
The Suzuki WagonR was first introduced in Japan in September 1993. It was developed as a semi-bonnet style mini wagon, which became very popular as a comfortable and easy-to-use car. It is manufactured in Japan, India, Hungary and Indonesia. Currently, Maruti WagonR is sold in more than 75 countries and regions, including Japan, India and Europe. In August 2025, Suzuki WagonR crossed the total sales mark of 1 crore units.

swivel seat for senior citizens
Recently the company has introduced the option of swivel seat in Maruti WagonR, which has been specially designed for the convenience of senior citizens and disabled persons. This initiative is inspired by Suzuki Group's corporate slogan 'By Your Side'. For this initiative, Maruti Suzuki has partnered with Bengaluru-based startup TRUEAssist Technology Private Limited under the startup incubation program of NSRCEL-IIM Bengaluru.

How to order?
Customers can order the swivel seat as a retro fitment kit at Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships. This seat can be installed in new WagonR models or can also be fitted in existing vehicles. Through this initiative, the company aims to make access to cars easier for more and more customers. Maruti WagonR swivel seat kit has been safety tested at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and meets the required safety standards. No changes are made to the structure or core functions of the car during installation. 3 years warranty is also available with the swivel seat, which gives complete assurance to the customers.

Nissan Gravit is coming to compete with Ertiga, first look of 7 seater revealed

New Delhi. Nissan's upcoming 3-row MPV will be named 'Nissan Gravite', which will be launched globally in January 2026. It will be launched in India in March 2026. This new Nissan Gravit, built on the CMF-A+ platform, will be based on the Renault Triber and will share its features and powertrain. However, its design and styling will be completely different. It will be presented as an affordable family car, which will directly compete with Renault Triber and Maruti Ertiga.

First teaser revealed
The Japanese automaker has released teaser images of the upcoming Nissan Gravita, revealing its front and rear profiles. Its silhouette and stance look like Triber, but it has been given a new front grille, bumper and alloy wheels. The headlamp cluster is the same as the Triber, but it will get new lighting elements. At the rear, the MPV has a large 'Gravite' badge on the tailgate and new taillamps.

Dimensions and interior
The Gravity is likely to remain similar to the Renault Triber in size. Interior information has not been revealed yet. However, it is expected to get most of the features of Triber, like 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (only in top variants), driver seat height adjust and armrest, cooled lower glove box, auto-fold ORVMs, rear seat lighting, cruise control etc.

Engine and gearbox options
As mentioned above, the Nissan Gravity MPV can be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Triber. This engine generates power of 72 bhp and torque of 96 Nm. Nissan can do tuning for better performance in it. Both manual and AMT gearbox options can be found in it.

nissan tecton launch
After the Nissan Gravit MPV in 2026, the Japanese company will launch the all-new Tecton midsize SUV based on the new generation Renault Duster. This SUV will share its platform, powertrain, cabin layout and features with the upcoming Duster. Nissan is preparing to gradually increase its market share in India. The company's Nissan Magnite is counted among the popular compact SUVs of India.

1985 to 2024! This car continues to dominate the market even after 40 years, will be number 1 even in 2025

New Delhi. Something amazing has been witnessed in the Indian Passenger Vehicle (PV) market. Only once in the 40 years from 1985 to 2024 has a sedan topped India's annual car sales chart. This happened in 2018, when Maruti Suzuki Dezire became the best-selling car in the country. Sedans are going to top the sales charts once again in 2025. Once again this model is Maruti Suzuki Dezire. Even after so many years, no other sedan has been able to compete with it.

Creta left behind
The country's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has sold 1,95,416 units of Dezire in the domestic market between January and November this year. This is 7,448 units ahead of the second model, which is Hyundai Motor India's popular SUV Creta, which has sold 1,87,968 units. Dezire is going to become number one at a time when the sedan segment is facing tough competition from the SUV segment. The PV market share of sedans is less than 10%, while SUVs contribute about 55%.

Why is Desire popular?
An industry expert told Moneycontrol, “The reason for Dzire's popularity in India is its price, positioning and scale. It falls in the compact sedan segment, which gives it more boot space than a hatchback without increasing the price too much. It also benefits from Maruti Suzuki's strong sales and service network, be it in urban or rural areas.”

Multiple powertrain options
Another expert said, “Multiple powertrain options have also increased its appeal. Low running cost, easy maintenance and strong resale value are its specialties. Due to frequent updates, Dezire has remained popular in the Indian market despite the changing tastes of the market.”

price
Price of Maruti Suzuki Dezire The ex-showroom price of Dezire ranges between Rs 6,25,600 to Rs 9,31,300. It also has a commercial variant Tour S, whose price ranges from Rs 6,23,800 to Rs 7,09,800 (ex-showroom). After the change in GST rate, the price of Dezire has been reduced by up to Rs 87,700. At the same time, the price of Tour S has decreased by Rs 67,200.

Engine and Mileage
Engine and Mileage of Maruti Suzuki Dezire This car has a 1.2 liter, three cylinder petrol engine, which first came in the Swift hatchback. This engine gives power of 81.58 PS and torque of 111.7 Nm. Customers can choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. Its CNG variant is also available, which gives power of 69.75 PS and torque of 101.8 Nm and comes with 5-speed manual transmission. Fuel efficiency is also a big factor in this segment. Maruti Suzuki claims that the petrol manual variant gives a mileage of 24.79 km per liter. The mileage of petrol AMT variant is 25.71 km per liter. The CNG manual variant gives a mileage of 33.73 km per kg.

Attention Fortuner Lovers! You will spend so much money in daily running, bill worth lakhs in 5 years

Attention Fortuner Lovers! You will spend so much money in daily running, bill worth lakhs in 5 years

Fortuner is one of the favorite cars of many people in India. Especially when it comes to luxury SUV, Toyota Fortuner is considered the first choice. Many common middle class people also dream of buying it. But have you ever thought how expensive it can be to keep this car and drive it daily?

Usually people just look at the price of the car, but the real game starts after buying the car. Expenses are distributed everywhere from insurance to maintenance, fuel, parking. If you calculate an average, the cost of owning a Fortuner can be heavy on your pocket. Fortuner comes at a price of around тВ╣ 55 lakh and if you drive it daily, what will be the total running cost in a month, let us tell you the complete details about it.

driver salary

According to Ankur Wariko's YouTube video, most people hire drivers for cars like Fortuner. Considering the expensive vehicle and safety, the driver salary for these cars is also high. The average salary of a Fortuner driver is considered to be around тВ╣ 25,000 per month. That means Rs 3 lakh is spent on the driver alone in a year.

diesel cost

SUVs have low mileage and high fuel costs. If the Fortuner drives about 50 kilometers a day, then about тВ╣ 15,000 is spent only on diesel in a month. However, if the car remains stuck in city traffic or travels a lot on the highway, this expense can increase further.

insurance expenses

Insurance of luxury cars is also not a small expense. The average EMI of insurance for Fortuner is around тВ╣ 8,000 per month. This cost may vary slightly depending on the age, model and claim history of the vehicle.

car maintenance

Being an SUV, the maintenance cost of Fortuner is also quite high. On an average, it costs тВ╣ 6,000 per month for servicing like brake pads, suspension and wheel alignment. As the vehicle gets older, this expense may gradually increase.

parking charge

SUV parking fares are very high in big cities. A big car like Fortuner requires a secure space, where the average rent is assumed to be Rs 5,000 per month. If you live in a working area, this price may be even higher.

Cleaning and Car Care

It is not easy to handle big vehicles. On average, Rs 3,000 per month is spent on daily washing and polishing.

Tolls and other small expenses

If you add toll tax, time-to-time repairs, punctures, minor defects, new fines, car accessories and other miscellaneous expenses, the expenses add up to around Rs 6,000 more every month.

This much will be spent every month

Adding all these expenses, the total cost of running a Fortuner in a month comes to around тВ╣ 68,000. That means it will cost approximately тВ╣ 4,000 every day.

If the price of the car is considered to be around тВ╣55 lakh and the monthly running cost can be around тВ╣68,000, then the total expenditure in five years comes to around тВ╣96 lakh. This means that in five years after purchasing the car, you can spend around тВ╣ 70 lakh only on this car.

Why is it expensive to drive a Fortuner?

Fortuner is a high-class SUV, which has a big engine. Apart from this the fuel mileage is less. Additionally, service parts are expensive and items like tires and brakes have a short life. Their insurance and taxes are also higher.

In this sense, owning a Fortuner is not just a hobby but also an expensive responsibility. In India, where the middle class spends a major part of its income on EMIs and necessities, a luxury car makes one spend тВ╣ 4,000 daily. So if you are thinking of buying a Fortuner, then make the purchase by paying attention not only to the purchasing budget but also to its daily budget.

Tesla Cybertruck beats Ford F-150 to earn IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating

Tesla Cybertruck beats Ford F-150 to earn IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating

  • Amid stringent safety norms, Tesla's Cybertruck has achieved the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating for 2025, putting it ahead of segment leaders like the Ford F-150.

The Tesla Cybertruck is one of only two pickup trucks to receive an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating in 2025.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently published its final set of safety ratings for 2025, and among the 16 vehicles earning awards this year, the Tesla Cybertruck stands out for more reasons than one. The all-electric pickup earned the Top Safety Pick+ rating, the only two pickup trucks to achieve it this year along with the Toyota Tundra Crew Cab. The result is especially notable given that several high-volume models, including the Ford F-150, Jeep Gladiator and Ram 1500 Crew Cab, failed to qualify under the latest criteria.

Preferred Source Banner
Preferred Source Banner

The IIHS tested 20 new vehicles as part of the final cycle, with awards reserved for models that met stringent standards in factors such as crashworthiness, pedestrian protection and headlamp ratings. To earn the top-tier “Plus” rating, a “Good” rating was mandatory in both the small overlap front crash and side impact tests, as well as acceptable or good performance in pedestrian front crash prevention and headlights in all trims. The Cybertruck met these limitations after undergoing major structural updates in the middle of the model year.

How did the Cybertruck perform?

According to IIHS evaluation data, Tesla introduced changes to the Cybertruck's front underbody structure and footwell, beginning with models manufactured after April 2025. These updates were intended to improve passenger safety in driver-side small overlap front crashes, which has become increasingly challenging with increasingly strict protocols. With these modifications, the Cybertruck achieved “Good” ratings in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, and side impact tests.

The electric pickup also performed strongly in crash avoidance and mitigation assessments. Its pedestrian front crash prevention system and headlights were both rated “Good”, meeting one of the main criteria for Top Safety Pick+ eligibility. While secondary evaluations such as seat belt reminder effectiveness and LATCH ease of use were rated Marginal and Acceptable, respectively, these factors do not currently impact award eligibility, although they may still matter to buyers.

rising safety standards

tesla cybertruck
The Cybertruck delivers a total combined output of 845 hp when Beast Mode is activated. The front-drive unit alone produces approximately 300 hp. And though it may be big, Tesla says the Cybertruck can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

The Cybertruck's validation comes at a time when traditional pickups have found it difficult to adapt to evolving safety standards. Models like the F-150 and Ram 1500 weren't honored this year not because of a lack of safety equipment, but because of the difficulty in meeting new scenarios. This highlights how structural and platform-level updates are becoming essential for top security ratings.

It is worth noting that, while the Cybertruck managed to receive the top safety award from the IIHS, it still does not meet European standards of safety. As of the end of 2025, the model is not officially sold in the region. European regulations place strict requirements on pedestrian protection, impact absorption area and outer edge radius, all of which conflict with the Cybertruck's angular stainless-steel bodywork.

Additionally, it weighs approximately 3.5 tonnes, requiring speed limiters and reinforced braking systems. The Cybertruck doesn't currently have these, and there's no official word on whether Tesla is actively developing a version that meets EU standards.

For now, the Cybertruck remains a North America-focused product, where its unconventional design suits American safety standards. Despite the polarizing form factor, the pickup still manages to meet some of the most demanding benchmarks currently in place, something that even the best-selling models in the segment are struggling to achieve.

If you want to buy a car then wait a little! 7 new cars to be launched in Indian market in 6 weeks

New Delhi. The coming few weeks are going to be very busy for the automobile sector. Many new products are going to be launched in the electric and ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) segment. Seven big launches will be seen in the next six weeks. Come, let's take a look at these upcoming cars.

Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol

Till now both these SUVs came with only 2.0 liter diesel engine, but now they will get the new 1.5 liter direct injection turbocharged petrol engine (Hyperion), which was recently introduced in the new Sierra. In Harrier and Safari, this engine will give power of 170 HP and torque of 280 Nm. With the arrival of this new powertrain, the company will be able to keep the prices of these vehicles more attractive.

Maruti Suzuki E Vitara
Maruti Suzuki will launch Evitara in India in early January 2026. This will be Maruti's first electric SUV built on the Heartect-e platform, which will have the option of two battery packs – 49kWh and 61.1kWh. With a big battery, a single charge will give a range of 534 km. Maruti Suzuki will also offer Battery as a Service (BAAS) and subscription models for the Evitara.

Mahindra XUV 7XO

Talking about the interior, many features will be taken from XEV 9e and 9S electric SUVs in 7XO. The new model will come with a more premium cabin than the old XUV700. It will have a cluster of three 12.3-inch screens and Harman Kardon's premium audio system with Dolby Atmos, which will replace the earlier Sony surround system. Many new features will also be added. In terms of equipment, it will be brought at par with XEV 9e and 9S.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift
Skoda Kushaq Facelift Skoda will launch the Kushaq facelift in January. There will be many design changes compared to the current model. New front design, new alloy wheels and changes will be seen in the rear. Lighting signature will also be better. New color options and more features can be found in the interior. Massage function will be available in the rear seats, which is not available in any other vehicle in this segment. Talking about engines, the existing 1.0 liter TSI turbo petrol and 1.5 liter TSI turbo petrol engines will also be available in the new Kushaq. There will be options for manual and automatic (torque converter and DSG) transmission.

new reno duster

Citro├лn India kicks off Q4 2025 with 3x sales growth and export-led momentum

  • Citro├лn India reported three-fold growth in sales in Q4 2025 compared to the previous quarter, supported by a revised market strategy, better localization and a strong push in exports under Stellantis' India operations.

Citro├лn India announced that it closed the fourth quarter of 2025 with a sharp improvement in sales momentum, reflecting the early results of last year's revised market strategy. The carmaker reported three-fold growth in sales during the fourth quarter compared to Q3, one of the strongest performances for the Stellantis-owned brand since it entered the Indian market.

The sales growth comes amid Citro├лn's ongoing efforts to realign its India strategy, with greater emphasis on localisation, product-market fit and a wider retail and service footprint. While the brand continues to sell relatively modest volumes compared to more established players on our shores, its Q4 performance signals a period of stability after a slow start to the year.

Exports played a major role in driving the overall sales performance of Citro├лn India. The company is expected to account for 18.8 per cent of Stellantis India's export growth in calendar year 2025, highlighting India's growing importance as a manufacturing and export hub within the group's global operations. This push was supported by better production utilization and a revised roadmap for models made in India serving overseas markets.

Commenting on the company's quarterly performance, Shailesh Hajela, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India, said, “Citro├лn delivered 3x sales in Q4 vs Q3 and significantly contributed to Stellantis India's 18.8% export growth in 2025. With basalt to join our global export portfolio in 2026, India is fast becoming a key pillar of product development, manufacturing and Citro├лn's long-term strategy.” Technology.”

Looking ahead, Citro├лn aims to strengthen its domestic presence while expanding its lineup for foreign markets. The inclusion of basalt in Stellantis' global export plans from 2026 signals India's growing presence within the group's international supply chain. However, maintaining this growth amid stiff competition in the Indian passenger vehicle market will depend on Citro├лn translating its renewal strategy into sustained demand.

Why Mahindra does not sell CNG cars like Maruti, Tata, Hyundai, this is the biggest reason

Why Mahindra does not sell CNG cars like Maruti, Tata, Hyundai, this is the biggest reason

Last Updated:

There is no CNG model in Mahindra's portfolio, the company is focusing on ICE and electric SUVs and plans to introduce many new models by 2029. At present, Maruti Suzuki has the largest CNG product portfolio in India. After this, Tata and Hyundai also have many great CNG models. Nissan has also recently launched CNG kit for Magnite in India.

New Delhi. There is strong demand for CNG cars in India. This is why brands like Maruti, Tata and Hyundai have many CNG cars in their portfolio. But, there is one brand which is very popular in India and there is no CNG model in its portfolio. That brand is Mahindra. Not a single model in the company's product portfolio is CNG powered. But why is it so? Sticking to its strategy, Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to introduce premium and differentiated models, which include internal combustion engine (ICE) powered SUVs and electric vehicles. The aim of the company is to further strengthen its hold in the domestic passenger vehicle segment.

Mahindra currently has no intention of introducing CNG or other alternative fuel technologies in its product range. The company wants to stick to its core brand identity and target customers who are looking for different and unique products. Speaking to PTI, R Velusamy, President тАУ тАЛтАЛAutomotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “Our focus has been on ICE and electric and we are growing well in these areas. In our personal vehicle portfolio, customers want differentiated products, they do not want to go to the mass market.”

Many new models will be launched in 4 years
He told that the company is completely focused on the SUV segment and plans to launch many new models in the next four years. However, the company currently has no intention of entering the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment. Velusamy said that the company is working on several initiatives like operational efficiency and technological advancement to maintain its competitive edge in the domestic passenger vehicle segment.

Mahindra's tremendous EV sale
He said that the SUV segment is still growing and the company is planning to bring more new models from now till 2029. In the electric vehicle segment, the company aims to sell around 7,000 electric vehicles by the end of this financial year. The company wants the share of electric range in its total sales to be around 25 percent by 2028. Mahindra has already sold more than 30,000 EVs (BE 6 and XEV 9) in the last seven months, generating revenue of around Rs 8,000 crore.
