MG Windsor won the title of India's number 1 EV by selling 46735 units in 2025. This SUV of JSW MG Motor India became popular for its family-friendly design and features.

New Delhi. Tata entered India's EV market with Nexon and dominated. For many years there was no EV in India to compete with it. After this, MG's Windsor enters and within no time this EV snatches the leader's crown from Nexon. This was the biggest upset of the EV segment in 2025. JSW MG Motor India has announced that MG Windsor has achieved the title of the country's best-selling electric vehicle in 2025. With sales of 46,735 units across the year, the model has set a new benchmark in the four-wheeler EV segment in India, reflecting its growing popularity among buyers. The success of the Windsor can be attributed to its family-friendly design, spacious interior and comfort features. With its feature loaded cabin and smooth driving experience, it has become one of the most popular SUVs in India.

price
The company ended the calendar year 2025 with an overall growth of 19 percent and recorded an impressive growth of 111 percent in EV sales compared to 2024. The ever-increasing demand for MG EVs is being seen not only in tier-1 cities but also in smaller cities and emerging markets. It has been introduced under the BaaS model at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh + Rs 3.9 per kilometer and it delivers 100 KW (136 PS) power and 200 Nm torque. The MG Windsor comes with two battery pack options: a 38 kWh pack, which gives a range of 332 km and its PRO variant comes with a 52.9 kWh pack, which gives an impressive range of 449 km.

Futuristic 'aeroglide' design
MG Windsor has a futuristic 'aeroglide' design language, which goes beyond traditional segmentation thinking. Its interior offers business class-like comfort, in which the 'Aero Lounge' seats can recline up to 135 degrees, which provides excellent comfort. Additionally, the massive 15.6-inch GRANDVIEW Touch Display on the center console makes the driving experience even more intuitive.

How much does the base variant of Maruti Dezire cost, what features are available, know everything

New Delhi. Buying a new car that fits within the budget can be a bit confusing at times, especially for those who are buying a car for the first time and are just learning about the engine, mileage and features. If you want to buy the base variant of Maruti Suzuki Dezire, which is called Dezire LXi MT, but you do not know what is available in it, then let us understand what you will get for Rs 6,25,600 (ex-showroom).

What is Maruti Suzuki Dezire LXi MT?
Maruti Suzuki Dezire is one of India's best-selling compact sedans, known for its comfort, fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs. The LXi MT is the base petrol variant, meaning it is the cheapest Dezire you can buy. Despite being a base model, it offers a good combination of safety, space and everyday needs.

1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine
Desire LXi MT has a 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine, which has a capacity of 1197cc. This 3-cylinder engine gives power of 81.58 PS and torque of 111.7 Nm, which is enough for city driving and occasional highway trips. It has a 5-speed manual gearbox, which is easy to use and reliable.

mileage
The biggest feature for new buyers is mileage. The Dezire LXi MT returns an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of approximately 24.79 kmpl, making it one of the most fuel efficient petrol sedans in its segment. It also has Idle Start-Stop technology, which automatically switches off the engine at traffic signals to save fuel.

Space and practicality
Despite its compact size, Desire is quite practical. Its length is 3995 mm, making it easy to drive and park in congested cities. Inside, this car provides comfortable seating for five people and has a large boot space of 382 litres, which is enough for luggage for a family trip. The 37 liter fuel tank ensures less fuel stops on long drives.

Ride, suspension and braking
For everyday comfort, the Dezire has a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsion beam setup at the rear, which can easily handle the potholes on Indian roads. For braking, disc brakes are provided at the front and drum brakes at the rear, which provide safe and reliable stopping power.

Security
In terms of safety, the Desire LXi MT really impresses. It has 6 airbags as standard, which is found in very few cars at this price. This car has also received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, which gives peace of mind to families. Other safety features include ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors and engine immobilizer.

Comfort and basic features
Although it does not have a touchscreen or advanced technology, all the necessary features are provided in Desire LXi MT. You get manual air conditioning with heater, all four power windows, keyless entry, tilt-adjustable steering and dual-tone fabric interior. This car runs on 14-inch steel wheels, which keeps the cost low and durability high.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio Vs WagonR: Cheapest and highest mileage, which car is best for you?

New Delhi. If you are thinking of buying your first car and want something economical, easy to drive and fuel efficient car, then it is possible that your eyes will be on Maruti Suzuki. The company's two most popular entry-level hatchbacks are тАУ Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Maruti Suzuki WagonR. Both are trusted names on Indian roads, but they are aimed at slightly different types of buyers.

price
The starting price of Maruti Suzuki Celerio is Rs 4,69,900 (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable petrol cars in India. Whereas, the starting price of Maruti Suzuki WagonR is Rs 4,98,900 (ex-showroom), but more variants and engine options are available in it. If your budget is limited and value for every rupee matters, then Celerio is slightly ahead here.

Engine and Performance
Celerio has a 998cc, 3-cylinder K10C petrol engine, which gives about 67 bhp power and 89 Nm torque. CNG variant is also available in it. You can choose between a 5-speed manual or AMT automatic gearbox, which is great for city driving.

More options in WagonR
Whereas, in WagonR you get more options. It has a 1.0-litre engine, which gives the same power as the Celerio, or you can also choose a 1.2-litre petrol engine, which gives power up to 88.5 bhp. This makes the WagonR feel more powerful, especially when driving with the family or on the highway. CNG variants are also available in this.

mileage
The biggest reason for buying Maruti cars is mileage. Celerio petrol variant gives a mileage of up to 26 km per liter, while Celerio CNG can go up to 34.43 km per kg. On the other hand, the mileage of WagonR petrol is up to 24.43 km per liter and the CNG variant can reach around 34.73 km per kg.

Size, space and comfort
The Celerio is slightly longer and wider, which makes its look and feel more car-like. However, the WagonR is quite tall, which gives it more headroom and makes the cabin feel spacious. WagonR is more comfortable for tall passengers. WagonR has a large boot space of 341 litres, while Celerio focuses on compactness.

Features and safety
Both cars have basic features like power windows, keyless entry and touchscreen infotainment, which come in the top variants. There has also been improvement in terms of safety and the new variants come with features like 6 airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors.

Maruti Suzuki retained the lead by selling 18,33,748 units in 2025, with Telangana contributing 49,000 units. Mahindra stood second, Tata third and Hyundai fourth.

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki maintained its unmatched leadership in calendar year 2025 тАУ with sales of 18,33,748 units by the end of the year. The brand continued to dominate month after month, driven by its large portfolio, which ranges from entry-level hatchbacks to high volume SUVs. Demand for 2.50 lakh units during the festive season in October and consistently good monthly sales kept Maruti Suzuki well ahead of its rivals. Telangana contributed around 49,000 units тАУ further boosting the company's overall figures as per vehicle registration data. The Indo-Japanese manufacturer launched the Victoris midsize SUV a few months ago, which has received a good response from customers. The SUV range will soon get further expansion with the arrival of Brezza facelift and e Vitara.

Mahindra at number 2
Mahindra & Mahindra secured second position with 6,07,447 units in the last calendar year. The company, which focuses on SUVs, benefited from the continued demand for models like Scorpio, Bolero, XUV 700, XUV 3XO and Thar, which saw a significant jump in sales due to festive shopping in October and November. BYD overtakes Tesla to become world's top electric vehicle seller

Chinese EV giant BYD Co overtook Tesla Inc to take the title of the world's number one electric vehicle seller after the US-based company reported a nearly 9 per cent decline in annual sales. Tesla's second consecutive decline in annual sales comes amid the expiration of US tax credits for EV purchases as well as the political influence of CEO Elon Musk. The company expects to sell 1.6 million EVs in 2025 after reporting a 16 percent decline in deliveries during the fourth quarter.

By contrast, BYD reported a 28 percent increase in EV sales to 2.64 million, with slightly less than half of its portfolio being electric. Its total sales increased by 7.7 percent at the end of the year, bringing its global lineup to 4.6 million.

For years, Tesla has been way ahead of its rivals in the EV sector, be it development or sales. With the rate at which the market has grown in the last decade, the scope of competition has increased significantly. At the same time, the rise of Chinese EV makers on the global stage has proven detrimental to the sales figures of brands in the rest of the world.

Tesla's troubles and the way forward

The recent outrage over Elon Musk's entry into US politics and its association with the Donald Trump-led presidency has hurt Tesla shares significantly. (Reuters)

Tesla sales in the fourth quarter have been hit by the expiration of a $7,500 EV subsidy that was phased out by the Donald Trump-led administration. During the period, it sold 4,18,227 units globally, which was below analysts' expectations. Model 3 and Model Y EVs accounted for more than 90 percent of the total.

The brand faced widespread criticism over Musk's embrace of American politics and his association with the Trump presidency and later leading the controversial Department of Government Efficiency. DOGE was established to cut down on 'wasteful' federal spending and bureaucracy. To date, it has canceled thousands of federal contracts and grants worth billions, and these include more than 5,000 USAID grants, awards and contracts, as well as millions in research and education grants.

Musk's political support and DOGE leadership have significantly hurt Tesla's sales, drawing criticism from environmentalists and environmentally conscious buyers and prompting protests at facilities. As of May 2025, Musk has resigned from his leadership role at the agency, in what is largely seen as a move to ease investor outrage. The CEO is now repositioning Tesla to become a major player in future autonomous vehicles, AI and humanoid robots.

Meanwhile, a new top dog in the EV sector is trying to secure its position on the throne. BYD is currently preparing to launch a facelift and a series of new-gen models to keep things fresh amid competition from other Chinese players like Geely, SAIC and Xiaomi.

'Iconic' Innova Crysta is going to say goodbye to the market, due to this the company decided to discontinue it

'Iconic' Innova Crysta is going to say goodbye to the market, due to this the company decided to discontinue it

New Delhi. Toyota Innova was the car that defined the MPV segment in India. The Innova and Innova Crysta together have ruled this segment for the last two decades, but now it looks like this MPV is moving towards the end of its life cycle. According to the report of Autocar, Toyota is preparing to discontinue Innova Crysta MPV from the market by March 2027.

Why will Innova Crysta be discontinued?
Why? The Innova Crysta continues to be popular among buyers who want a sensible, no-fuss premium MPV that is reliable. However, the Crysta is being discontinued due to the upcoming strict CAFE 3 regulations. Toyota has already made a strategy for these new rules and has chosen petrol hybrids as its path. More hybrid products will be seen in Toyota's lineup at the upcoming MENAX. Innova Highcross is an example of this.

hybrid portfolio
The hybrid portfolio will give Toyota super credits, which are beneficial for any carmaker, especially when it aims to meet CAFE 3 regulations. Each pure hybrid vehicle counts as two vehicles in the CAFE calculation, making it easier for the company to meet its fleet's COтВВ targets. Currently, each Innova HighCross Hybrid sold by Toyota is reducing the company's corporate average fuel consumption by twice as much as diesel SUVs and MPVs.

What will happen to Fortuner?
If compared with other models, diesel MPVs like Innova Crysta contribute to increasing fuel consumption, and this is the reason why Toyota has decided to discontinue the Crysta. What next? As mentioned above, Toyota will now focus more on petrol hybrids under CAFE regulations. It is not yet clear whether Toyota will completely discontinue diesel engines from all its models, such as the Fortuner. Although Innova HighCross is present in the market, it seems that it will not be able to completely fill the void left by the departure of Innova Crysta. You might remember that Toyota had removed Innova Crysta from the market in 2025.

Innova Highcross
This decision was taken at the time of launch of Innova Highcross. But when the HiCross was launched, Toyota faced many problems like semiconductor shortage. When the company saw that the waiting period for Innova High Cross was long and the demand for Innova Crysta or diesel MPV still remained, Toyota decided to launch Crysta again in the market.

relaunch of christa
However, compared to the older version, the relaunched Crysta came only with a diesel engine and a manual gearbox. It was provided with a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine, which was in accordance with the current emission norms. Automatic transmission was deliberately not given, because the company knew that it would affect the sales of Innova Highcross. Overall, Toyota does not have any true alternative to Innova Crysta and now it has to be seen whether companies like Mahindra, Tata or Hyundai bring a new MPV in this segment or not, so that the needs of the customers can be met.

This SUV dominated the market as soon as it arrived, 70,000 people bought it, even the grand Vitara's charm paled in front of it.

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki has received 70,000 bookings for Victoris, out of which more than 35,000 have been delivered so far. Victoris, launched last year, is the flagship model of the Arena dealership network. Its starting price is Rs 10.50 lakh, which goes up to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The platform of Maruti Suzuki Victoris is shared with the Grand Vitara, which is already available in the Indian market. Same chassis and engine options are available in both the vehicles. Retail sales of 24,000 units of Grand Vitara were recorded in December 2025, with prices starting from Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh (ex-showroom).

2 engine options are available
Maruti Suzuki Victoris is available in two engine options: 1.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.5 liter strong-hybrid engine. The 1.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 103 hp power and 139 Nm peak torque. It has 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options, as well as the option of factory-fitted CNG kit. Apart from this, all-wheel-drive configuration with automatic transmission is also available. The 1.5 liter strong hybrid powertrain, which is directly sourced from the Grand Vitara, produces 92.5 hp of power and 122 Nm of torque and is paired with an e-CVT gearbox.

Grand Vitara and Victoris
Although many features are similar in both the vehicles, there are some features available in Victoris which are not available in Grand Vitara. These include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), 10.25-inch digital driver display, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Dolby Atmos, gesture-controlled electric tailgate and ambient lighting.

These features will also be available
Apart from this, many features like hands-free gesture controlled powered tailgate, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, tire pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors are also available in Victoris. This car of Maruti is sold through Arena which gives it more reach. Its price is also lower than Vitara but in terms of features it gives complete competition to Vitara. This is the reason why it is getting so much love from the buyers.
