Wagon R has been sold in more than 75 countries, but India is its largest market, where 34 lakh units are sold by June 2025, including 11.9 lakh units of the third generation model introduced in January 2019.

Maruti Wagon R, launched in India in December 1999, is close to completing 26 years in the domestic market and is one of the longest-long-lasting models, including Honda City and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The third and current generation wagon R makes about 12 percent of the global cell alone. In the financial year 2025, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,98,451 Wagon R, which is 1 percent less than FY 2024 (2,00,177 units). Wagon R FY 2023 (2,12,340 units) and FY 2022 (1,88,837 units) also had India's best -selling passenger vehicle.
Update received in 2019 Maruti Wagon R's sale has intensified since the launch of Third Jane model in January 2019. Wagon R was one of the first cars of Maruti Suzuki which got CNG Povertrain and is one of the best selling products in the company's broad CNG portfolio.
