Tata’s EV range gains momentum further as bookings triple in six months and market share rises ahead of festive season
Tata Motors has an expansive range of electric cars on sale in India stretching multiple segments and price points. The Tiago EV starts at around Rs. 6.99 lakh while the Harrier EV sits at around Rs. 30.43 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom) at the upper end of the range. The Punch EV, Nexon EV and Curvv EV fill the gaps between them while the recently launched Sierra EV has added another electric SUV choice in the midsize space.
The breadth of the range comes at a time when Tata is seeing a steep increase in customer interest. Bookings for Tata electric cars have grown threefold over the last six months according to Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. The company has also gained EV market share in each of the last two to three months – on top of being the best-selling passenger EV maker.
Tata says the gap between itself and the second placed EV player has increased during the same six month period – pointing to an improvement in its position even as competition in the segment grows. Production, rather than demand, has now emerged as the immediate limitation. In an interview, Srivatsa said Tata cannot fully translate the three-fold increase in bookings into deliveries because its manufacturing capability is restricting output.

The timing could prove important as the industry approaches the festive period. Srivatsa expects the festive quarter to become the largest ever for the PV industry. A seasonal demand cycle would give Tata an opportunity to convert more of its EV bookings into retail sales but the outcome will depend partly on how much additional production the company can provide.
Another change is scheduled before the festive period as Tata Motors will raise vehicle prices in September 2026. The increase will be up to Rs. 25,000 across the company’s ICE and electric range. Tata also sees several factors supporting the recent change in buying pace towards electric vehicles. The country’s EV segment grew 77 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter compared with 46 per cent growth for the overall PV industry.

Earlier this year, the Punch EV gained a facelift and it has been well received by customers too. Next up, the Safari EV and the more premium Avinya are expected to arrive within the next 12 months.
