Biden government tightens another screw on China-Russia, it will be difficult for Chinese cars to run in America, now car software will be banned

Highlights

America expressed concern about losing control of cars.Accused of collecting important information on Chinese and Russian car software.Cars with Chinese software may be banned from 2027.

New Delhi. America's enmity with China and Russia has now come to the fore on cars. The Joe Biden government of the United States is preparing to ban smart cars that come with software and technology from China and Russia. The US government has cited national security behind this move. Let us tell you, this is not the first time that China has faced such restrictions. Earlier, the US government has also banned Chinese tech companies Huawei and ZTE, accusing them of secretly monitoring its citizens.

The US Commerce Department is expected to propose a sweeping ban on the use of Chinese hardware and software in connected and self-driving vehicles on American roads. The US government has expressed concern that Chinese companies could collect sensitive information about drivers and infrastructure using their software.

America may lose control over cars
US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told reporters in a conference call on Sunday that a US government investigation that began in February found that software and hardware from China and Russia embedded in US vehicles posed a number of national security risks, including the potential for hacking to gain remote control of cars and the theft of drivers' personal data.

“In extreme circumstances, an adversary could shut down or take control of all vehicles running on its software in the United States at the same time, potentially causing accidents or blocking roads,” he said.

Ban may be imposed from 2027
According to a CNN report, this rule will not apply to cars with Chinese software already on US roads. According to the Commerce Department, the software ban will apply to vehicles manufactured from 2027 and the hardware ban will apply to vehicles manufactured from 2030.

The proposed regulatory action is part of a broader struggle between the world's two largest economies, the United States and China, to secure supply chains for the key computing technology of the future, from semiconductors to AI software. China, in particular, has invested heavily in the connected car market, and progress made by Chinese manufacturers in Europe has made the US nervous.

The Chinese government has its own concerns about the data being collected by Tesla's electric cars. Because of this, Tesla vehicles are banned from entering many sensitive premises in China.

What are connected cars?
Connected car feature is available in today's modern cars that run on the internet. Many features in it are controlled by Bluetooth and Internet through software. Modern cars, buses or trucks are coming with connected features whose data is recorded by the companies so that facilities can be provided to the person driving it. This is a kind of network through which cars remain connected and exchange information with the server. This process involves hardware and software that use Bluetooth, WiFi and cellular technology.

The proposal has a 30-day public comment period and the Commerce Department aims to issue a final regulation before the end of the Biden administration. The US government has said that an economic analysis of the costs expected for automakers and consumers to comply with the proposed rule will also be released.

5 useless features of the car on which people are spending money like water, don't fall for them, they don't make driving easy

5 useless features of the car on which people are spending money like water, don't fall for them, they don't make driving easy

Useless Features In Cars: In today's world, technology is expanding in every field and the automobile sector is also not untouched by this. Today's cars are equipped with advanced technological features, which attract customers. Some special features like air purifier, 360-degree camera, powered seats and wireless charger influence the decision to buy a car.

However, in recent times, some such features are also being seen in cars which are not very useful and people end up spending more money in buying variants that come with such features. Let's take a look at some such features, so that you can make a better decision while buying a car next time.

Sunroof
Nowadays the trend of sunroof is increasing rapidly, but its practical use is limited in a country like India. In cold countries like Europe, people use sunroof to enjoy the sun. Because of this, most of the vehicles there come with sunroof. However, in India, most people do not keep it open due to sunlight and dust. Apart from this, it is often used incorrectly here, which can be harmful to safety.

Voice Commands
Voice command feature has been added to cars to make driving convenient, allowing you to control navigation, calling, or music without using your hands. However, this feature does not always work effectively. Sometimes voice commands are misinterpreted as orders, forcing you to act manually.

Rain Sensing Wipers
Rain sensing wipers, which automatically detect rain and clean the windshield, are another popular feature. However, this feature is not that mandatory as it can be easily controlled manually as well.

Gesture Control
Gesture control allows you to control certain functions of the car without touching any buttons, just by moving your hands. Its purpose is to prevent the driver from getting distracted from the road. However, sometimes this feature has the opposite effect, because wrong gestures can distract the driver. It can be safer to control functions like volume with a knob.

automatic headlights
Automatic headlights turn on automatically when it gets dark. This is a convenient feature, although manually turning the headlights on/off is also not a difficult task and can save money.

Next time you buy a car, make a wise decision by keeping these features in mind.

Electric car for Rs 4.99 lakh! Is it really that cheap or is there some fraud? Know how much it will cost to drive 1 lakh kilometers

Electric car for Rs 4.99 lakh! Is it really that cheap or is there some fraud? Know how much it will cost to drive 1 lakh kilometers

New Delhi. MG Motor has recently shaken the market by launching the most affordable electric car Comet EV at Rs 4.99 lakh. It is clear from MG's competitive pricing that the problems of Tata Motors, which has the highest share in the country's electric car market, may increase. But how is the company offering an electric car at such a low price and what is the company's strategy behind this? Here we are going to tell you about it in detail.

First of all, know that MG Motor has launched its three electric cars Comet EV, Windsor EV and ZS EV in India under a special battery subscription program, due to which all three cars have been launched at a very low price. The special thing in this is that the company has not added the cost of the battery in these cars, due to which the price of the car has come down. The company will charge the customer per kilometer for driving the car, which will be the battery subscription fee.

Company's affordable EV for Indian customers
Actually, the most expensive thing in electric cars is its battery. The cost of the battery is 55-60% of the total cost of the car, due to which it is very difficult to control the price of electric cars. At present, the high price of electric cars is becoming the biggest obstacle in adopting them. Keeping this problem in mind, MG has launched the car under a subscription plan, in which customers have to pay only the price of the car while purchasing the car, while the price of the battery will be decided on the basis of the running of the car.

Company's special plan for battery
The company has launched Comet EV, Windsor EV and ZS EV under the 'Battery as a Service' plan i.e. BaaS. This means that the customer will have to pay only the price of the car as a lump sum amount. Let us tell you that the starting ex-showroom price of MG Comet EV has been kept at Rs 4.99 lakh. At the same time, Rs 2.5 per kilometer will have to be paid as battery rental. At the same time, the starting ex-showroom price of MG ZS EV is Rs 13.99 lakh and along with this, battery rental of Rs 4.5 per kilometer has been fixed. At the same time, MG Windsor has been launched at a price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) while the subscription charge for its battery is Rs 3.5 per kilometer.

Life time warranty and assured buy-back
MG Motors is also giving its first customers a lifetime warranty on its electric cars. Apart from this, free battery charging facility is also being made available on all three cars for one year. However, the company has also laid down some terms and conditions for this. The company says that under the BaaS plan, after 3 years of ownership, customers can sell their MG car back to the company. For this, the company will pay 60% of the value of the car.

How much does it cost to drive 1,00,000 km?
Now the most important thing is how much will it cost to run the car purchased under the new plan. Let us tell you that free public charging on these electric cars of MG is only for one year, after which the customer will have to pay the charging fee as per the tariff rate. Talking about Comet EV, if you drive it for 1,00,000 km, then at the rate of Rs 2.5 per kilometer, you will pay a fee of Rs 2,50,000 under BaaS. That is, after 1 lakh kilometers, your total expenditure on Comet EV will be Rs 7,50,000. If the charging cost of Comet EV is added, then the total ownership charge on this electric car will increase even more. Usually the running cost per kilometer on an electric car is Rs 1. If seen in this way, the cost of charging the car for 1 lakh kilometers will be around Rs 1 lakh. After adding this fee, the total ownership cost of the car will be Rs 8,50,000.

Now you will not be able to say that electric cars are expensive, EV has been launched for just Rs. 4.99 lakh, many companies are left speechless

New Delhi. MG Motor has done wonders once again. To give customers the option of affordable electric cars, the company has launched its cheapest electric car at an even lower price. Yes, now you will get a brand new electric car from MG for only Rs 4.99 lakh. At this price, it has become the cheapest electric car in the country.

Actually, MG Motor is running a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program to make its electric car affordable in India, under which Comet EV has been launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.99 lakh. The company first introduced this program with its new electric car MG Windsor EV. Now the company has also included Comet EV and ZS EV in it, due to which the prices of both EVs have come down. Let's know what is this special plan of MG Motor.

Electric cars become cheaper with subscription packs
The battery is the most expensive item in electric vehicles, which is about 55-60% of the total cost of the car. MG has not only made electric cars affordable by introducing the 'Battery-as-a-Service' program for customers, but has also eliminated the worry of re-selling these cars. 'Battery as a Service' is an industry program that offers batteries with a subscription model, meaning you have to pay the price of the battery as rent. Now customers of Comet and ZS EV will also have to pay battery rental per kilometer along with the car.

How much will I have to pay for Comet EV and ZS EV?
Now let's talk about how much money will have to be paid for battery service on Comet EV and ZS EV after coming under the Battery as a Service program. Let us tell you that the starting ex-showroom price of MG Comet EV is Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 2.5 per kilometer will have to be paid as battery rental. Let us tell you that earlier the price of MG Comet EV was Rs 7 lakh. At the same time, the starting ex-showroom price of MG ZS EV is Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 4.5 per kilometer will have to be paid as battery rental. Along with this, it will be even more beneficial for you to know that even after 3 years, you will get 60 percent assured buyback on MG's electric cars.

MG Windsor launches battery subscription program
MG Motor India took an industry first initiative and launched the first such program. At the same time, the company's new electric car Windsor (MG Windsor) became the first car to come with battery subscription. The initial introductory price of this car has been fixed at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The company will rent its battery in the form of subscription, the charge for which is Rs 3.5 per kilometer.

Petrol cars lost the race in this country, electric vehicles won, this small country is teaching the world

Petrol cars lost the race in this country, electric vehicles won, this small country is teaching the world

New Delhi. Efforts are being made across the world to reduce dependence on conventional fuels like petrol and diesel, and electric vehicles (EVs) are being considered a better option in this direction. Incentives are being given in many countries to adopt electric vehicles. In India too, the government is providing subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicles, however, their number is still limited in the country.

Meanwhile, Norway has become the first country in the world where the number of electric vehicles has now exceeded that of petrol vehicles. According to the Norwegian Road Federation, out of the 2.8 million private passenger cars registered in the country, 7,54,303 are fully electric, while the number of petrol vehicles is 7,53,905. Registration of diesel vehicles has now reached its lowest. In August 2023, 94.3 percent of the newly registered vehicles were electric vehicles.

How did you achieve this success?
Norway has achieved this success by laying the foundation for its efforts many years ago. Since the early 1990s, the government and citizens there have understood that electric vehicles are part of the future. Norway's parliament set a national goal to make all new cars zero-emission (electric or hydrogen) by 2025. By the end of 2022, more than 20 percent of registered cars will be battery electric, and this year the market share of battery electric vehicles was 79.2 percent.

Awareness about electric vehicles
The awareness of the government and citizens towards electric vehicles has been remarkable in Norway's population of 5.5 million. The government has implemented several new schemes to promote EVs, making the purchase of electric vehicles affordable and convenient.

Favourable tax policies
The biggest change to promote electric vehicles was made in tax policies. The Norwegian government decided to impose higher taxes on high-emission cars and lower taxes on low or zero-emission cars. Under this, electric vehicles up to NOK 500,000 (about Rs 40 lakh) were exempted from VAT, while vehicles priced above this amount were charged 25% VAT only on the additional amount.

other benefits
In addition to VAT and import taxes, electric vehicles were also exempted from toll road charges in Norway from 1997 to 2017. In addition, facilities such as free municipal parking and access to bus lanes attracted people to electric vehicles. In this way, Norway has set a successful model for the adoption of electric vehicles, which can become a source of inspiration for other countries.

This Indian company's electric scooters will be a hit outside the country as well, people from these countries will also ride them from 2025

This Indian company's electric scooters will be a hit outside the country as well, people from these countries will also ride them from 2025

New Delhi. Hero MotoCorp plans to introduce its electric scooters in the international market. The company will launch e-scooters under its Vida Electric brand in the UK, France, and Spain by mid-2025. This is Hero's first step into the UK and European markets, where the company aims to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles. This strategy is related to the ongoing discussions on the India-UK Free Trade Agreement, which can reduce tariffs in the automotive sector and create new growth opportunities.

According to a Financial Times report, Hero CEO Niranjan Gupta emphasised on the positive consumer trends in the region. The company is already a major player in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and now wants to take advantage of this opportunity to transition to electric mobility, especially since the company has not achieved the expected success in electric vehicles in the Indian market.

Premium motorcycles will also be launched
Apart from its electric scooters, Hero is exploring export possibilities of conventional petrol engine motorcycles including the premium Maverick model to the UK and other European countries. However, analysts believe that offering expensive and premium motorcycles will be necessary to succeed in these developed markets. Hero's existing partnership with Harley-Davidson allows it to manufacture the iconic brand's motorcycles for the Indian market.

The company's entry into Europe comes at a time when India's vehicle emission standards, which were updated in 2020, are now in line with global standards. This is opening up new opportunities for Indian manufacturers. Also, due to rising duties on Chinese imports, Indian manufacturers like Hero are looking at new possibilities in developed markets. In August 2024, Hero MotoCorp sold 512,360 units, showing a growth of 38% on a month-on-month basis. The company has achieved a growth of 8% year-on-year compared to the previous year.

Nissan will make a big bang in the Indian market! Will launch the best selling SUV with strong updates

Nissan Magnite SUV in 2024: The Nissan Magnite facelift is expected to launch in October 2024 with minor updates aimed at making the SUV more attractive. The Nissan Magnite hasn't seen many changes since its launch in 2020, so now is the perfect time for the SUV to get a makeover.

Although Nissan is a major global car brand, it has not had much success in the Indian passenger vehicle market. Due to low sales, Nissan has had to limit its Indian lineup and now the company sells only two models – a compact and affordable SUV Magnite and the other premium offering X-Trail. In this situation, Nissan Magnite has become an important car for the company, which has kept the company in the market. For this reason, Nissan is now preparing to introduce its facelift model, in which many new things will be seen.

What will be special in Magnite facelift
According to reports, the 2024 Nissan Magnite will get cosmetic changes in the form of a new radiator grille, redesigned headlamps, updated LED daylight running lights, and newly designed front and rear bumpers. Apart from this, new design alloy wheels and taillights can also be seen. However, its dimensions are not expected to change.

What will be the changes in the engine?
There will not be many changes in the engine of the 2024 Nissan Magnite. It will come with the same engine set as the current model, which includes a 1.0-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. The naturally aspirated engine comes with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox, while the turbocharged petrol motor is available with 5-speed manual and CVT unit transmission options.

There will be major updates in the interior
The interior of the cabin may also get some sporty changes, although its design layout will remain the same as before. The dashboard is likely to get some changes, and it may also have features like a single-pan sunroof and 6 airbags. The touchscreen infotainment system is likely to get a larger screen, making this SUV even more attractive to consumers.

The 2024 Nissan Magnite will compete with SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra 3XO. Apart from this, it will also compete with the Renault Kiger, Maruti Frontx and Tata Punch.

There are crores of fans of this SUV in India, but the company cannot sell even a single car outside the country, know why there is a ban

New Delhi. In India, Mahindra is known for making all-time hit SUVs like Bolero, Scorpio and Thar. The company has been popular for its SUVs not only in the country but also abroad. Mahindra's Roxor offroader is very popular especially in the US market. However, the company cannot sell even a single unit of its most popular SUV sold in India in the foreign market.

Restrictions have been imposed on the company to sell this car abroad, due to which despite being a good SUV, the company cannot sell it in the international market. Let us know what is the reason for this and why restrictions have been imposed on the sale of this model.

History of Mahindra and Jeep
Mahindra is known for making SUVs in India, while Jeep is known worldwide for making powerful SUVs and amazing off-road cars. There is a connection between these two companies and a fight that lasted for 15 years. Jeep was earlier known as Willis Jeep. KC Mahindra and JC Mahindra took license from Jeep in 1947 and started making Jeep in India and named it Roxor. This Jeep became very popular among the people and in 1987 Chrysler acquired Jeep.

Mahindra got its main recognition in the year 1996 when the company launched the classic Jeep car. Meanwhile, in the year 2009, Chrysler made an agreement with Mahindra that the company will no longer make cars with 7 grill design. Meanwhile, in 2010, Mahindra launched Thar for the first time and 5 years later in the year 2014, Fiat bought Jeep Chrysler and the company became known as Fiat Chrysler Auto (FCA).

allegations against mahindra
Then in the year 2019, FCA filed a case against Mahindra in the US court and accused Mahindra of copying the design of Jeep cars. FCA claimed that Mahindra has taken the design of Roxor and Thar sold in Australia and US markets from Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Let us tell you that in the year 2020, Mahindra launched the second generation of Thar.

The company revealed plans to launch the Thar in Australia in 2020, but in 2021 the company had to step back. FCA filed a lawsuit against Mahindra in the Federal Court of Australia alleging that the company had copied the design of the Jeep Wrangler. On this, the Federal Court ruled that the Thar looks similar to the Jeep Wrangler and Mahindra was forced to postpone its plan to import the Thar to Australia.

Who won?
Eventually in 2023, the US court ruled in favor of Mahindra and Mahindra won the case. However, the company can no longer sell the Thar in any country other than India. The company also had to make some changes in the Roxor sold in the US market. In this way, the battle between Mahindra and Jeep ended in 2023.

Currently, Mahindra can sell its Thar SUV in India, but cannot export it to any country due to restrictions imposed by the International Court. If Mahindra wants to sell Thar in other countries, then it will have to change the design of the SUV.

First look of the new Maruti Dzire is out, it is no less than any luxury car, know full details

First look of the new Maruti Dzire is out, it is no less than any luxury car, know full details

New Gen Maruti Dzire: The next generation model of Maruti Suzuki's most successful sedan Dzire is going to be launched in the Indian market soon. Before the official launch, this new model has been seen during testing, and its complete design has also been revealed.

According to Autocar India's report, Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch this sedan after Diwali. The company has taken special care that the look of the new Dzire is different from the Swift hatchback. Dzire is the number-1 car in the sedan segment, and it will compete directly with Tata Tigor, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.

These features can be found in the next-gen Desire
The leaked image reveals the new design of the next generation Dzire. It includes a larger grille, full LED headlamps, LED fog lights, new front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels. This updated model will also get features like a 360-degree camera, tri-arrow LED taillights, integrated spoiler on the bootlid and a segment-first electric sunroof. The interior will have beige upholstery and a dark colour dashboard theme.

The company can install Swift's engine
The new Dzire is built on the Heartect platform of the new Swift, and both cars will have many common components. The new generation Swift is powered by a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine that generates 82 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque. This engine comes with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission. The same engine is likely to be used in the Dzire as well.

What will be the mileage
According to the company, the petrol manual variant of the new Swift gives a mileage of 24.8 km per liter and the petrol AMT variant gives a mileage of 25.75 km per liter. It is believed that the mileage of Dzire may be slightly less, but it is expected that the CNG variant of Dzire can also be launched.

6 airbags, cruise control and many safety features will be available
The new Dzire will get features like a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charger, 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold control, auto climate control, rear parking sensor, reverse camera, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, LED headlights and LED taillights. Apart from this, the new model will also have LED DRLs and LED fog lamps.

Will be equipped with sunroof

The model seen during testing also had a sunroof, which makes it likely that the Dzire will also have the sunroof feature. The price of the new Dzire may be slightly higher than the current model. In the Indian market, it will compete with Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura, but Dzire is at the forefront in its category and its sales are unmatched.

The popularity of this SUV is not diminishing, it has been the market king for 22 years, the company has made 9 lakh cars

New Delhi. Mahindra's flagship SUV Scorpio has achieved a significant milestone in sales. Recently, Mahindra has completed the production of 9 lakh units of its popular SUV from Chakan plant in Pune. The 9 lakhth car to roll out of Mahindra's plant was the Scorpio-N model, which is a new avatar of Scorpio and was launched in June 2022.

The Scorpio made its debut in India in 2002 and has received several facelifts and updates since then. Currently, Mahindra is selling both the Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic variants in India.

How much is Scorpio selling for?
The Mahindra Scorpio is currently the company's best-selling model. The new generation Scorpio-N and the old Scorpio Classic have made it more popular than Mahindra's other SUV, the Bolero. In May, Mahindra sold 9,318 units of both the SUVs. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO, Mahindra & Mahindra, announced this historic achievement on social media. He wrote, “Today was a very special day. We were at the Chakan plant to celebrate it with the team. It was an emotional moment to send the Scorpio N off the line.”

More features are available in Scorpio-N
The Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV is larger than the Scorpio Classic. This SUV is 206 mm longer, 97 mm wider and has a 70 mm longer wheelbase than the previous generation model. It has 18-inch and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The SUV includes features like signature double barrel LED projector headlamps, long stacked LED tail lamps, shark-fin antenna and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs. On the other hand, the Scorpio Classic retains the design language of the old Scorpio with some updates.

The engine of Scorpio N is also powerful
The Scorpio Classic SUV comes only with a diesel engine. It has a 2.2-litre engine that generates 130 bhp of power and 300 Nm of peak torque with a 6-speed gearbox.

The Scorpio-N gets a 2.2-litre diesel engine that can generate 172 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. The torque output increases to 400 Nm in the six-speed torque converter automatic transmission variants. The lower variants produce 130 bhp and 300 Nm. Apart from this, the Scorpio-N is also available with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 200 bhp and 370 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter gearbox.

What is the price?
The Scorpio Classic is priced at ₹ 12.64 lakh (S variant), while the S11 trim is priced at ₹ 16.14 lakh. The Scorpio-N starts at ₹ 13.05 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹ 24.51 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec Z8 L AT AWD variant.
