Not only Mahindra BE 6e, there was a huge controversy because of the name of these cars, many companies including Tata-Honda are victims.

Not only Mahindra BE 6e, there was a huge controversy because of the name of these cars, many companies including Tata-Honda are victims.

New Delhi. Mahindra recently changed the name of its new electric SUV BE 6e to BE 6. This decision was taken when Indigo Airlines raised objection over the rights of the brand name '6E'. IndiGo claimed that '6E' is part of their IATA code, which they use on commercial flights. However, Mahindra was ultimately forced to change the name of its car.

This is not the first time that there has been controversy over the name of a vehicle. Even before this, problems have come to light regarding the names of many cars. This incident reminds us of other vehicles whose names either created controversy or created confusion in the market. Let us take a look at some such interesting stories of controversies related to the names of vehicles…

When Tata's 'Zippy' became 'Tiago'
Tata Tiago is the company's popular hatchback model in India, but it was earlier named 'Zika'. This name was chosen because the car reflected its agile performance and fun-driving ability. But in 2016, when the Zika virus spread across the world, Tata Motors realized that their name might send the wrong message. In such a situation, he changed it to 'Tiago'. This change was not only necessary for the company but was also a wise step to maintain engagement with customers.

Mitsubishi had to change the name of Pajero
Mitsubishi Pajero is considered a prestigious name in the world of SUVs, but in Spain it had to be sold under the name 'Shogun'. Reason? 'Pajero' means 'idiot' in Spanish or a word with a vulgar reference. In such a situation, Mitsubishi decided to change the name and respecting the sentiments of the market, launched it with the name 'Shogun'.

chevrolet car flopped because of name
Chevrolet launched its 'Nova' car in Mexico in the 1970s. However, 'nova' means 'does not move' in Spanish. This failed to connect with customers and had a negative impact on car sales. This incident is a great example of the consequences of ignoring language and local context in marketing.

Honda changed the name to 'Jazz'
Honda's 'Jazz' is a popular car, but initially it was launched with the name 'Fit'. You won't see anything wrong with this name, but the use of this word could be controversial in countries like Norway because there this word is known as a derogatory abuse. To avoid this controversy, Honda named it 'Jazz' in many markets. This was a small but very necessary change.

Skoda 'Laura' made fun of in India too
Skoda launched its premium sedan in 2005 and named it 'Laura'. But in India this name took a different meaning. 'Laura' is an obscene word in Hindi and because of this the name has become a subject of joke on social media and in general conversation. Although the car performed well in the market, discussions and jokes about the name continued for a long time.

Lessons for auto companies
This incident is a lesson for automobile companies that naming is not just a creative process, but it is very important to take deep care of language, culture and local context. The right name can enhance the brand's image, while a wrong name can make it the center of controversy.

China has prepared a solid plan! 1,00,000 cars will fly in the sky by 2030, Asia will be a big market for flying cars

China has prepared a solid plan! 1,00,000 cars will fly in the sky by 2030, Asia will be a big market for flying cars

New Delhi. Many big automobile companies are surprised by the dominance of Chinese companies in the global electric vehicle market. Now China's next preparation is to become a global leader in the flying car market. In fact, China has prepared a plan to launch more than 1,00,000 electric flying cars, flying taxis and drones by the year 2030.

Under this, China has prepared a blueprint to become the market leader in 'low-altitude economy'. In fact, countries like China, Japan, Korea and America are encouraging research and development on flying cars with the aim of facilitating traffic and transportation in the future. These cars will be able to fly at low altitudes away from the vehicular traffic on the road. Due to this, there are strong possibilities of developing low-altitude economy across the world. For this, rules have started being made in many countries for flying vehicles doing vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL).

eVTOL will provide many types of services
Due to the ability to perform vertical takeoff and landing, eVTOL vehicles can be used in a variety of ways. Apart from transporting a person from one place to another, these vehicles can also be used for goods delivery, emergency service, cargo and logistics. It is expected that in the coming time, eVTOLs will be able to do all the work that currently running vehicles on the road do. Since they operate on batteries, there will be no risk of pollution.

Resources will be needed for eVTOL
However, the biggest challenge for eVTOL vehicles is to create separate infrastructure for them. Let us tell you that flying cars will require separate training and driving license as well as management and profitable business model like airlines to operate them. Flying cars are being run in trial mode in Japan and some Gulf countries.

China will become an export hub
China plans to sell flying cars in the domestic market as well as export them to developed countries like South Korea, Middle East, America and Japan. Companies like Autoflight and E-Hang are working rapidly on the manufacturing and test certification of battery-powered flying cars.

MG vehicles will be heavy on the pocket from the new year, price increase announced by 3%, many models including Hector-Astor will become expensive.

MG vehicles will be heavy on the pocket from the new year, price increase announced by 3%, many models including Hector-Astor will become expensive.

New Delhi. The beginning of the new year may prove costly for the customers of JSW MG Motor. The company has announced that from January 1, 2025, the prices of all its models will increase by up to 3%. This decision has been taken due to rising input costs, exchange rate impact and increase in logistics costs.

JSW MG Motor India said in its statement that this change in prices is the result of continuously increasing production costs and external factors. Explaining this decision, the company's Chief Commercial Officer Satinder Singh Bajwa said that JSW MG Motor is dedicated to quality, innovation and sustainability. He said that this slight price increase is necessary to deal with the increasing costs. However, the main objective of the company is to minimize its impact on customers.

Before this decision of the company, other big vehicle manufacturing companies have also announced to increase the prices of their vehicles. Hyundai India has announced an increase in prices of all its models by up to Rs 25,000, which will be effective from January 1, 2025. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki has also decided to increase the prices of all its models by 4%. The company has said that this increase is being done due to increase in production cost and operational expenses.

The impact of rising inflation and production costs can be clearly seen in the automobile sector in India. These companies say that due to rising input costs and inflation, it has become their compulsion to increase prices. However, efforts are being made to keep its impact on customers minimal.

Customers planning to buy a car in the new year will now have to pay a higher price. In such a situation, this news may be disappointing for many customers, because due to rising prices their budget may be under pressure. Nevertheless, automobile companies are trying to improve and maintain the quality of their products despite these challenges.

Mahindra snatches the name of its SUV, now the new electric vehicle will be called 'BE 6', legal fight will continue with Indigo

Mahindra snatches the name of its SUV, now the new electric vehicle will be called 'BE 6', legal fight will continue with Indigo

New Delhi. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has decided to change the name of its new electric SUV 'BE 6e' to 'BE 6'. Mahindra has said that it will continue the legal fight against Indigo Airlines' parent company InterGlobe Aviation over the name of the electric SUV. InterGlobe claims that '6E' is its airline's design trademark and has been a part of its identity for the past 18 years.

Mahindra said in a statement that their brand name is 'BE 6e' and not just '6e', which is completely different from Indigo's trademark. The carmaker also said that its product and design are completely different from those in the airline sector and hence there is no possibility of any confusion. Mahindra stressed that the trademark application it has filed is for a completely different industry and product.

Where did the matter start?
On December 3, 2024, InterGlobe Aviation filed a case against Mahindra in the Delhi High Court. They claim that the use of the name Mahindra's new electric SUV BE 6e is an infringement of their trademark '6e'. The airline claimed that '6E' has been an integral part of its identity for the last 18 years. It is a registered trademark, which is widely recognized globally. This matter will go up for hearing in the court on December 9.

InterGlobe said, “Unauthorized use of '6E' in any form is a violation of our brand's reputation and identity. We will take every possible step to protect our intellectual property and brand.”

Indigo also embroiled in trademark dispute
It is noteworthy that Indigo itself has faced a trademark dispute. Tata Motors had objected to the use of the name Indigo. Tata named its sedan car 'Indigo' in 2002, while InterGlobe Aviation started its first flight in 2006 under the name Indigo.

Mahindra's stance
Expressing regret over this controversy, Mahindra said that two big Indian companies should not get entangled in such unnecessary disputes. Mahindra said that we have decided to change the name of our product to 'BE 6' so that the controversy can be ended and we can move forward.”

Mahindra's new electric SUV is BE 6e
Mahindra launched its first “electric origin” SUVs ‘BE 6e’ and ‘XEV 9e’ on 26 November 2024. Just a day before, on November 25, the trademark registrar had accepted the name 'BE 6e' for registration. If this name is registered, Mahindra will get the right to use the name 'BE 6e'.

Mahindra has expressed hope that this dispute will end soon and Indian companies will encourage each other's progress.

The only SUV to snatch the number 1 crown from Maruti, better safety than German cars for just Rs 6 lakh, best in features too!

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki has been leading the Indian car market for the last 22 years. If we look at the top-10 selling cars of every month, then mostly Maruti cars remain in the list. Maruti's cars like WagonR, Swift, Dezire and Ertiga are known as the best selling models in India. These cars always remain on the first, second or third position in terms of sales.

However, a few years ago, a car manufacturer of the country launched an SUV which snatched the number-1 crown from Maruti cars. This car has reached more than 4 lakh homes and offers the best performance, space and safety features at its price.

This car snatched the crown of number-1
Tata Punch is a well-known name in the Indian car market. Tata Motors launched it as a budget SUV in October 2021 and its popularity has continued since then. The company launched it at an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.49 lakh and it is still the safest car in its segment. The latest generation of Tata Punch is priced at Rs 6.12 lakh (ex-showroom) and this car comes with a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. The company is offering it in petrol as well as CNG and electric versions.

Tata Punch gives a mileage of 27 Km/Kg in CNG.

Let us tell you that according to market research firm Jato Dynamics, a total of 1,16,000 units of Maruti WagonR have been sold between January and July 2024, while during the same period, Tata Punch has registered sales of more than 1,26,000 units. If we look at the contribution of models other than petrol in sales, then 45% of Wagner's sales came from CNG models. Whereas, the contribution of CNG and electric models in the sales of Punch was 47%.

The secret of Tata Punch's success
Punch is a micro SUV, which offers SUV like features at an affordable price. Additionally, Punch has moved beyond just petrol options to multi-fuel options, giving customers the option to choose from CNG and electric models in addition to petrol. Electric and CNG variants of the Punch make up 47% of its total sales, indicating the popularity of alternative fuel options. It is also clear from this change that the interest of consumers is now moving away from traditional fuel towards alternative fuel options.

Mahindra got stuck by naming the car '6E', Indigo filed a lawsuit, companies issued statements

Mahindra got stuck by naming the car '6E', Indigo filed a lawsuit, companies issued statements

New Delhi. The dispute over the use of '6E' trademark has intensified between vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Indigo Airlines' owner InterGlobe Aviation. Mahindra has said that it is trying to find a solution to this issue through mutual dialogue.

On the other hand, IndiGo rejected Mahindra's claim and said that '6E' has been their designer code for the last 18 years. The airline says that any misuse of this code can harm its reputation and brand image.

Mahindra introduced new electric vehicles
Mahindra has recently launched two electric SUVs, BE 6E and XEV9E in the market. '6E' has been used in the name of one of these models, which has become a cause of controversy. IndiGo claims that '6E' is its trademark and has been in use for a long time.

Mahindra responded to this by saying that their BE 6E name is different from Indigo's trademark and does not create any confusion among consumers. Mahindra clarified that it has filed a trademark application for its electric SUV 'BE 6E', which is fundamentally different.

Indigo lodged objection
Reiterating that IndiGo protects its rights on this matter, it said that '6E' is not only a registered trademark but is also part of the airline's identity globally. The airline clarified that any unauthorized use of '6E' is a violation of intellectual property rights.

IndiGo said in the statement, “We are committed to taking every necessary step to protect our trademarks and brand identity. '6E' is an integral part of our identity, and using it without permission hurts our image and rights.”

Chances of legal battle increased
According to reports, Indigo has filed a trademark infringement suit against Mahindra. The airline has sought intervention from the intellectual property division of the court challenging Mahindra's BE 6E trademark.

Both Mahindra and Indigo have given public statements regarding this controversy. However, both the companies are also emphasizing on the possibility of adopting the path of dialogue to reach a solution. Now it has to be seen whether this dispute is resolved by mutual consent or it will be resolved through legal battle.

Mahindra snatches the name of its SUV, now the new electric vehicle will be called 'BE 6', legal fight will continue with Indigo

Who made the batteries of Mahindra's electric cars, promises a range of 682 kilometers with lifetime warranty!

New Delhi. Indian passenger vehicle manufacturer Mahindra has recently launched two electric SUVs which are making headlines due to their features. Mahindra has launched two new electric SUVs built on the INGLO platform, BE6 E and

However, to achieve this range, the company has not used an ordinary battery in these two cars, but a new battery developed in-house. Let us know which technology Mahindra has used in its electric car.

New battery prepared in-house
Developing battery technology is the most difficult task for any car manufacturer. Since, range matters a lot in an electric car and the customer's decision to buy an electric car largely depends on the range. The company has taken the help of Chinese car manufacturer BYD to develop battery technology. Mahindra is using LFP batteries sourced from BYD in both its new electric cars, which are equipped with blade battery technology and are being used in many electric cars around the world including China for their qualities.

However, the work of packing and assembling of these batteries is being done by Mahindra at its Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, which is the company's state of the art facility.

LFP battery is equipped with many features
BYD's LFP battery is quite different from ordinary lithium ion batteries. In this battery, Lithium iron phosphate has been used instead of Lithium-Nickel, which has more capacity to store energy. Apart from this, this battery gets less hot even with continuous use and provides better protection from water.

The company has designed the battery chamber in the car in such a way that it can withstand temperatures ranging from -30 degrees to 80 degrees. This feature gives the company an edge in battery technology over other companies like Tata Motors and Hyundai.

Currently, Mahindra is sourcing LFP battery cells from China, but once the battery agreement with Volkswagen comes into force in 2026, the company will stop purchasing them from China.

Life time warranty on battery!
Mahindra has announced a life-time warranty on the batteries of its BE6 E and XEV.9e electric cars. This means that if the battery gets damaged, customers will not have to worry about the cost of replacing it. The company is giving a standard warranty of 10 years / 2,00,000 kilometers on the batteries of both the cars. If you sell the car before 10 years, the warranty will be transferred to the new owner.

Mahindra BE6 E and XEV.9e Price
Both Mahindra BE6 E and XEV.9e are advanced cars of the company. The base model of BE6 E is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the price of the base model of XEV 9e has been fixed at Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Range of more than 680 km
Both electric cars have a 59 kWh battery in the base model and 79 kWh battery in the top model. Both generate 231 PS power and 380 Nm torque in their base models. Whereas, their top models have a claimed range of 682 km and 656 km respectively. These electric cars have single motor and rear wheel drive (RWD) system.
