New Maruti Brezza coming with underbody CNG tank, will get safety of 6 airbags

New Maruti Brezza coming with underbody CNG tank, will get safety of 6 airbags

Last Updated:

The new model of Maruti Suzuki Brezza will be launched soon, which will have features like underbody CNG tank, level 2 ADAS, the same 1.5-litre K15C engine and six airbags.

New Delhi. The new model of Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to arrive soon. The company is preparing to update its compact SUV and its first glimpse has been revealed. The new model has been seen during testing, in which some changes have been seen. The front look of the car has been revealed. There will be no major changes in the design, but some minor changes will be made. The special thing is that CNG setup can be seen in this model. The new model of Brezza is expected to have an underbody CNG tank. Let us know about it in detail.

CNG tank no longer in the boot
The car shown during testing had a CNG sticker on its rear windshield. It is expected that Maruti Suzuki can use underbody CNG tank layout in the new model of Brezza. This means that the CNG tank will be fitted under the car, which will solve the problem of boot space. The same setup has been given in the recently launched Victoris and it can also be included in the new Brezza.

What changes in design and features?
Design – The profile and basic body of Brezza will remain the same. There may be slight changes in the rear taillights, while the alloy wheels will remain the same as the current model. The new model can also get a roof-mounted spoiler with a shark-fin antenna and integrated high-mounted stop lamp.

Discussion of ADAS тАУ There is also a possibility of getting Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) in the new model of Brezza. This feature is quite popular and is in demand. If this feature is available in Brezza, then it will be able to compete with other vehicles in its segment.

Engine and Safety
engine – There will be no change in the engine of Brezza. The old 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder engine will continue in it. In petrol mode, this engine will give power of 102 bhp and torque of 137 Nm. In CNG mode it will give 87 bhp power and 121.5 Nm torque output.

Transmission тАУ There will be no change in transmission options also. A manual gearbox will continue for both fuel types and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the petrol variant.

Safety – The Brezza is already updated with six airbags and other safety upgrades and will be based on the Global C platform, which has received a four-star GNCAP rating.

Last Updated:

Tata Sierra Comments: Tata has again launched its powerful SUV Sierra in the Indian market after two decades. After the launch of this car which came with a new attitude and style, the users have also showered a lot of love on it. Many users on social media have described it as a panic in the auto market.

People were stunned to know the price of Tata Sierra.

New Delhi. After almost 20 years, Tata's powerful SUV Sierra has made a comeback in the Indian market. When it was presented to the public for the first time on November 25, 2025 and its prices were revealed, it created a stir in the auto market as well as on social media. The most surprising thing was the price of this car, which was much less than people's expectations. This was the reason why there was a flood of funny comments on social media like 'Creta and Seltos are dead'.

When a user with the ID mechanical.jugadu posted a video of the launch and price of Tata Sierra on the social media platform Instagram, the users showered a lot of love on it. It was written in the comment along with the video that Tata has created a stir in the auto market by launching its SUV Sierra at a price of just Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-show room). Its booking will also start from December 16 and delivery will start from January 15, 2026. This car is going to directly challenge Hyundai's Creta and Kia's Seltos.

There was a flood of funny comments.
As soon as the launching video of Sierra came on Instagram, people started showering love. User with ID vikat_khawle wrote, 'Creta and Seltos are dead'. His direct reference was towards companies like Hyundai and Kia. A user with onlyshadab ID wrote, 'Other companies are saying to Tata – You can launch ten if you want.' This clearly means that with the launch of this one car, difficulties for other car companies in this segment are going to increase.

'Har Ghar Defender Scheme'
Many users on social media are also comparing this car with Defender. Defender is a full size SUV from Land Rover, which comes with many variants and engines in India. However, its starting ex-showroom price is around Rs 98 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.42 crore. A user with ID ram_rajxpandit even commented after watching its launching video on Instagram, 'Har Ghar Defender Yojana.' His reference was also towards Land Rover's Defender, whose starting price is Rs 98 lakh, whereas the starting ex-showroom price of Tata Sierra is only Rs 11.49 lakh.

What is the power of this car?
Tata has launched Sierra at a starting price of just Rs 11.49 lakh. This is the ex-showroom price of the company, which after taxes etc. will be around Rs 13.30 lakh in New Delhi. This price is for the petrol variant, which has a 1,498 cc engine. This engine produces power of 105 BHP and torque of 145 Nm. This car has a 5 gear manual transmission. The fuel capacity is 50 liters and a huge boot space of 622 liters is also available.

Its size is equal to other SUVs in this segment like Creta and Seltos. However, the Sierra looks tall and wide, giving it strong road presence.

The 19-inch alloy wheels are the largest in the segment, which are on par with large SUVs and give the Sierra a confident and upright stance. Marker lights are provided in the flush-fitting door handles, which will help in identifying them easily in the dark. However, it is not motorized like the XUV700.

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is all-new. If you have doubts about performance or reliability, don't worry, this diesel engine has been tried and tested in many Tata cars.

If you use the vehicle more than 60 km/day, you can choose this. There were mixed reports regarding the reliability of Tata's DCT initially. It is smooth, fast and suitable for driving in the city.

The Sierra stands out from the inside out with its bold design. If you want to stand out and leave your mark, then this SUV will definitely impress you. Now Tata is left to provide a positive sales experience and good after sales service.

The wait is over! Tata Sierra 2025 launched with new attitude, new colour, price starts from Rs 11.49 lakh

Last Updated:

Tata Sierra 2025 Launch: Tata has launched Tata Sierra in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh. Booking is open, design is classic and modern, many color options are available. Claimed boot space is 622 litres, measured up to the roof. It has a wide loading area that is set at a normal height. It also has 60:40 split functionality, which makes its use even easier. Here you can easily keep 4-5 cabin size trolley bags.

New Delhi. The wait is finally over! Tata has launched its much awaited Tata Sierra in the Indian market. The starting price of this car is Rs 11.49 lakh. The company has not disclosed the price of the entire line up of this car. For this you will have to wait till December. Now booking for the car is open both online and at the dealership level. Buyers were eagerly waiting for this car. That is why a huge buzz was created even before its launch in the market. This car is considered to be India's first SUV. Therefore it will be interesting to see its comeback. It will also be interesting to see how much the buyers of this era like it.

Tata Sierra 2025 design: A new take on a classic
It was not easy for Tata Motors to reintroduce the Sierra, especially considering the sentiments associated with the brand. But it would not be wrong to say that Tata has introduced a design which is connected to its roots and at the same time is completely modern and premium.

  • Ground clearance: 205 mm
  • Water Wading Capacity: 450mm

strong road presence
Its size is equal to other SUVs in the segment like Creta and Seltos. However, the Sierra looks taller and wider. It will have better road presence. The 19-inch alloy wheels are the largest in the segment, which is on par with a large SUV: this gives the Sierra a confident and powerful look. Marker lights have been provided in the flush-fitting door handles, which will make them easy to identify in the dark. However, it is not motorized like the XUV700. The new Sierra does not have a spare wheel in the boot like the older model. By placing the wheel there, the boot will open from the side and the door will become heavy, which will reduce the practicality.

Color options for Tata Sierra include:
Andaman Adventure, Bengal Rouge, Munnar Mist, Coorg Clouds, Pristine White and Pure Grey. You can see all the Sierra colors in real world images here. Tata Sierra Dark Edition is also expected to arrive soon.

Tata Sierra Interior: Lounge Experience
Tata Motors has focused on keeping the design clean and simple. The interior experience is premium, at par with cars a segment above. Like other Tata cars, it also gets different interior themes depending on the variant. There are two designs of dashboard. One has three screens, the other two screens.

Tata-Maruti kept watching! These 2 Mahindra cars turned out to be 'Mega-Hit', more than 4 lakh people bought them

Tata-Maruti kept watching! These 2 Mahindra cars turned out to be 'Mega-Hit', more than 4 lakh people bought them

New Delhi. Mahindra's XUV 3XO and its previous model XUV300 together have crossed the sales mark of 4 lakh units in less than seven years. This achievement comes at a time when Mahindra is preparing to launch the electric version of 3XO, which will actually be the facelifted XUV400 and its design will be similar to the existing petrol and diesel 3XO. The sales of these vehicles have been very fast in recent months. Out of 4 lakh units sold so far, 1.57 lakh units have been sold in the last 19 months only, which clearly shows that the demand for Mahindra's compact SUV is increasing rapidly. October 2025 was the best month ever for this model line, when 12,237 units were delivered from Mahindra's plant.

XUV300 and XUV 3XO range
FY 2025 has been the strongest year ever for the XUV300 and XUV 3XO ranges. Mahindra sold 1,00,905 units in this financial year, which is 84 percent more than the 54,726 units sold in financial year 2024. The reason behind this growth is XUV 3XO's strong positioning in the compact SUV segment, feature-rich variants and a wide choice of petrol, diesel and turbo petrol engines.

Electric XUV 3XO: Platform and battery options
The upcoming electric XUV 3XO will be built on the basic platform of the existing XUV400 EV, which is currently priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 17.69 lakh. The XUV400 gets two battery options: a 34.5 kWh pack, which gives a range of 375 km on a single charge, and a 39.4 kWh pack, which has a claimed range of 456 km. Both the variants have a single electric motor, which gives about 150 PS power and 310 Nm torque. Talking about the exterior design, the look of the XUV 3XO EV will be similar to the petrol-diesel 3XO, which will get a new front grille, revised bumper and sharp LED lighting signature. The EV version will have special features like blanked off grille, aero optimized alloy wheels and charging port on the left front fender.

Positioning in Mahindra's EV line-up
The XUV 3XO EV will be Mahindra's entry-level electric SUV, slotted below the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Both of them are based on the INGLO electric platform, while the 3XO EV and XUV400 are built on the modified platform of petrol-diesel variants. Mahindra is testing the XUV 3XO EV on public roads with light camouflage, which seems to indicate that its development has progressed significantly. It is expected that it will be launched before the end of the current financial year. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is also preparing to launch its first electric SUV eVX, which will compete in the compact and midsize electric SUV segment.

From compact SUV to compact EV
The combined performance of the XUV300 and XUV 3XO clearly shows how buyer preferences have changed in the compact SUV segment. The model line which started only in petrol and diesel, will soon become a family with electric variants, which will have the same design language. With this, buyers will get the option of petrol-diesel or electric power, that too without changing the model.

New Delhi. These days, compact SUV cars are dominating the Indian automobile market. In the last few years, cars of this segment have gained tremendous popularity in the Indian market and have left behind hatchback and sedan cars which were the first choice of Indian customers a few years ago. Now if you are thinking of getting a new compact SUV then Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 is a great option for you. MX2 is the diesel variant of this car. If your budget is tight and you cannot pay lump sum for this car, then you can finance it with a downpayment of Rs 2 lakh. Come, let us know about this in details.

Onroad Price with RTO and Insurance
Mahindra sells MX2 as the diesel variant of XUV 3XO. The ex-showroom price of the entry level variant of this vehicle is Rs 8.95 lakh. Suppose you buy this SUV in Delhi, then you will have to pay RTO of around Rs 78,000 and insurance of around Rs 45,000. After which Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 on-road price will reach around Rs 10.18 lakh.

Downpayment of Rs 2 lakh
If you want to bring home the diesel variant MX2 of this vehicle after making a down payment of Rs 2 lakh, then you will have to take the remaining Rs 8.18 lakh as a loan from the bank. If the bank is giving you a loan of Rs 8.18 lakh at an interest rate of 9% for 7 years, then you will have to pay Rs 13309 as EMI every month.

How much will the car cost?
Suppose you take a car loan of Rs 8.18 lakh from a bank at 9 percent interest for 7 years, then you will have to pay EMI of Rs 13309 every month. This means you will have to pay around Rs 2.99 lakh as interest for the diesel variant MX2 of Mahindra XUV 3XO for 7 years. After which the total price of this SUV for you will become Rs 13.17 lakh.

compete with these vehicles
The company offers Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 as a compact SUV i.e. 4 meter long SUV. In this segment, it competes directly with vehicles like Renault Kiger, Maruti Breeza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and Nissan Magnite which are already quite popular in the market.

The wait is over, Tata Sierra will make a grand comeback today after 34 years

The wait is over, Tata Sierra will make a grand comeback today after 34 years

New Delhi. Tata Motors is going to launch its most important and much awaited product today тАУ All-New Sierra. Prices of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) variants will be released today. Earlier reports had said that the ICE variant of Sierra will be based on the ATLAS (Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture) platform. The same architecture is also used for the existing curve. But according to our sources, Sierra will be based on a completely new platform. It has been designed and tuned to strike a balance between better road performance and ride quality. The new Sierra will be manufactured in Sainand. Sources have also said that the new Sierra will be manufactured at the Sainand factory, which Tata Motors bought from Ford. The acquisition of this plant was completed in January 2023. Whereas, Curve is manufactured in Ranjangaon facility.

There will be both petrol and diesel engine options
While the Harrier and Safari come with only diesel engines, the Sierra will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. It will get two petrol engines тАУ one 1.5 liter naturally aspirated engine which will give a power of around 120hp and the other 1.5 liter direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine, which was shown at the Auto Expo 2023. The turbo-petrol engine will generate power of around 170hp and 280Nm and will be available in higher variants.

Apart from this, diesel engine will also be available. Earlier reports had said that the company may offer a detuned version of Harrier's 2.0 liter diesel engine in Sierra. But according to the latest information, the compact SUV will get a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine. Powertrain specifications may be revealed later today. The all-new Sierra will come with front wheel drive (FWD). The original Sierra of the 90s had rear-wheel drive, with some higher variants also offering four-wheel drive (4WD).

4├Ч4 support
Interestingly, the platform of the new Sierra also supports 4├Ч4 and if there is demand, Tata Motors can also bring this option in the future. Triple-screen setup will be available. The cabin of Sierra has been brilliantly designed and many features have been provided in it. The biggest attraction is the triple-screen setup, which will have three 12.3-inch screens тАУ driver information display, central infotainment screen and front passenger entertainment display. This setup will be available only in higher variants. Two screens and a HUD (Head Up Display) can be found in the lower variants.

These features are also present
Apart from these, the higher variants will also get panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, wireless charger, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake and more. The vehicle will also have premium audio system and connectivity features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The design of the new Sierra (ICE) is praiseworthy. It has sharp lines, clean body panels and smart design elements. The highlight of the exterior design is the curved rear window glass, which creates the visual effect of a large panoramic glasshouse тАУ reminiscent of the single-piece rear glass of the original Sierra.

hidden door beadings
Apart from this, hidden door beadings are also provided in it, which gives it a clean and attractive look. Another smart feature is the clamshell designed boot lid. This means that when you open the boot, the tail lamps will also rise. Tata's design team has given the SUV secondary tail lamps (warning lamps), which are located behind the boot lid. They will be able to give warning to other vehicles even when the boot is open. It also has red puddle lamps, which were also available in the original SUV.

collision with creta
Being a compact SUV, the new Sierra will face tough competition from the Hyundai Creta, which is currently the leader in the segment. The company says that Sierra will offer more features than Creta. It has been designed and engineered to be more premium and desirable than the Creta (and other mid-size SUVs like Seltos, Grand Vitara, Urban Cruiser Highrider etc.). EV version will also come soon. All-electric version of Sierra will also be launched soon. Tata Motors has already shown its design. The market launch is expected in the coming months.

India's first SUV was launched 34 years ago, hard to believe the price, now it will make a comeback in a new avatar!

India's first SUV was launched 34 years ago, hard to believe the price, now it will make a comeback in a new avatar!

New Delhi. There are many options for SUV cars in the current Indian market. You can choose your car according to your budget and choice. There was a time when sedan and hatchback cars used to dominate the Indian market. Now SUV models are dominating the market. But do you know which was India's first SUV? When was it launched? And how much did it cost? If not, let us know.

Tata Sierra: India's first SUV
Tata Motors' Sierra car was India's first SUV which was launched in 1991. That means 34 years ago. At the time of launch, this car was a completely different car in itself. No other such model existed in India. The entire concept of SUV was new in India.

How much did the first SUV cost?
At the time of its launch in 1991, the price of this SUV was Rs 5 lakh. In today's times, this price may seem quite low but it was not so. This was a huge amount in 1991 and with this price, this car was counted among the most expensive cars of that era.

Return on 25th November
The most important thing is that the company is once again going to launch Tata Sierra in the Indian market in a new avatar. This car will be officially presented by Tata Motors in India on 25th November.

Why was Sierra special?

indigenous engineering

It was the first Indian car to be designed and engineered entirely for personal use, keeping the Indian market in mind. Earlier, the jeeps available in the market were either foreign designs or were primarily built for utility purposes.

Features ahead of time

Sierra was way ahead of its time. This was the first car in India in which features like power windows and adjustable steering wheel were provided. It was also available with factory-fitted air conditioning (AC).

Powerful and offroad capability

It was a 3-door SUV, with its unique identity being the large glass window at the rear (called the Alpine Window). It was built on body-on-frame construction, which made it very strong and suitable for rough roads. It also had the option of 4├Ч4 (four-wheel drive) variant, which made it an excellent off-roading SUV.

engine:

Initially it came with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Later, the company also introduced a turbocharged diesel engine (2.0-litre, 87 bhp) in 1997, which further increased its performance. When the Sierra was launched in 1991, it was priced around or above тВ╣5 lakh. At that time, popular cars like Maruti 800 were available for тВ╣1 lakh to тВ╣1.5 lakh. In comparison, the Sierra was a premium and expensive offering. Due to its high price and three-door design, its sales were not as successful as expected, and production was discontinued in 2003.

How 2025 is becoming a turning point for IndiaтАЩs automobile industry

How 2025 is becoming a turning point for IndiaтАЩs automobile industry

One of the defining developments of the year was the implementation of GST 2.0 reforms, which recalibrated the taxation structure for automobiles. Small cars, which form the backbone of first-time buyersтАЩ mobility, saw a reduction in GST from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. This policy change made affordable cars more accessible to the burgeoning middle class, particularly in smaller cities and towns where such vehicles dominate household mobility.

Simultaneously, larger cars over four meters in length and premium motorcycles above 350cc were subjected to a fixed 40 per cent tax. The reforms not only reduced costs for buyers but also simplified the taxation framework, creating predictability in pricing and enabling dealerships to offer attractive deals during festival seasons.

Auto Retail Grows 3.4 per cent in H1 FYтАЩ26:

Two-wheelers continued to dominate the market, registering 88,37,140 units, a 3.07 per cent increase from a year ago.

IndiaтАЩs automobile retail sector recorded steady growth in the first half of FYтАЩ26 (AprilтАУSeptember 2025), with total vehicle registrations rising 3.42 per cent year-on-year to 1,23,48,306 units, up from 1,19,39,890 units in the same period last year. The latest data highlights broad-based recovery across most vehicle categories, though growth remained moderate amid mixed economic indicators.

Two-wheelers continued to dominate the market, registering 88,37,140 units, a 3.07 per cent increase from a year ago. Accounting for over 71 per cent of total sales, the segment remains the primary volume driver for the industry. Demand was buoyed by improving rural sentiment, easing financing conditions, and steady traction for entry-level commuter bikes and scooters. Passenger vehicles (PVs) grew 3.67 per cent to 19,50,586 units, reflecting sustained momentum in the SUV and crossover segments. The category contributed nearly 16 per cent to overall registrations, aided by festive bookings and a widening choice of hybrid and electric variants.

In the tractor segment, sales surged 10.68 per cent to 4,48,987 units, marking the sharpest growth among all categories. The rise signals a recovery in rural markets and healthy pre-harvest demand. Three-wheelers also expanded 3.86 per cent to 6,18,225 units, supported by increasing adoption of electric passenger and cargo models for urban last-mile mobility. Meanwhile, commercial vehicles (CVs) recorded a modest 2.56 per cent uptick to 4,60,475 units, indicating stable freight and infrastructure activity despite broader macroeconomic headwinds.

The first half of FYтАЩ26 shows an encouraging mix of growth across personal and rural mobility segments, even as the construction equipment category declined slightly. With the festive season underway, industry players are optimistic that retail demand will strengthen further in the coming quarters.

Big Shakedown: Tata Reclaims No. 2 Spot on Record SUV, Small Car Sales

Tata Mahindra Hyundai
Tata is in the second spot for September sales, followed by Mahindra and then Hyundai.

Festival season sales in 2025 underscored the profound impact of GST 2.0 on consumer behaviour. Automakers reported some of the highest monthly retail numbers in recent history, driven by pent-up demand, strategic pricing, and festive promotions. While Maruti Suzuki maintained its dominance as IndiaтАЩs leading car brand, Tata Motors recorded its highest-ever retail sales in September 2025, reclaiming the second position in the countryтАЩs overall passenger vehicle market.

Tata Motors posted its strongest monthly performance ever, selling a historic 60,907 units in September 2025, a remarkable 47 per cent year-on-year growth. This surge helped Tata reclaim the second spot among IndiaтАЩs best-selling car brands, overtaking Hyundai, which saw a slowdown during the period. The Tata Nexon SUV spearheaded the rally, recording its highest-ever monthly sales for any Tata model with over 22,500 units delivered.

Following the rollout of GST 2.0 reforms in 2025, Honda reduced prices across key modelsтАФthe Amaze, City, and ElevateтАФby as much as тВ╣1.2 lakh. The strategy has clearly paid off, with the company recording a strong 15.3% year-on-year rise in domestic sales in October 2025, led primarily by renewed demand for the Amaze. By passing the tax benefits directly to buyers, Honda has effectively improved the affordability of its lineup, helping attract more customers during the crucial festive season.

“We welcome the GovernmentтАЩs GST Reforms 2025 which came at a very timely juncture for the Auto industry. These progressive measures have not only made vehicles more accessible to customers but also provided a strong impetus to festive season demand,” said Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd.

Navratri 2025 marked a record-breaking festive season for automobile retail in India. Reflecting on the same, FADA Vice President, Sai Giridhar said, “Navratri 2025 will go down as one of the most memorable chapters in IndiaтАЩs automobile retail journey тАФ a true тАШBachat UtsavтАЩ unleashed by the visionary GST 2.0 reform announced by HonтАЩble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. For the first time ever, dealerships across the nation witnessed record-breaking footfalls and deliveries, with overall retail surging by 34 per cent YoY тАФ a historic high during any festive season.”

The combination of pricing incentives, festival-driven purchases, and strategic marketing created a surge in demand that exceeded expectations. Automakers reported that a significant proportion of these sales came from new buyers entering the market, signalling a demographic shift towards aspirational purchases rather than purely utilitarian choices.

Electrification Gains Momentum

The EV segment continued to expand, reinforced by its structural tax advantage of 5 per cent GST. Several automakers, including BYD, Tata, MG Motor, and Mahindra, expanded their electric vehicle portfolios, launching affordable and mid-range EVs alongside premium electric SUVs. Startups like Ultraviolette, Oben, and Ola Electric played a complementary role, bringing smaller, technology-driven EVs and scooters to urban consumers.

EVs attracted buyers not only because of low GST rates but also due to lower running and maintenance costs. However, price parity with ICE vehicles remained challenging because of high battery costs, limited domestic manufacturing scale, and the need for imported components such as lithium-ion cells. Despite this, the industry witnessed a clear trend: urban buyers, professionals, and environmentally conscious consumers increasingly considered EVs as viable alternatives for personal mobility.

Tesla Model Y India
The Tesla Model Y India is the brand’s first offering in India after years of speculation and stalled negotiations

Tesla’s India Entry: After years of speculation and stalled negotiations, American electric vehicle giant Tesla finally made its official debut in India, marking a watershed moment for the countryтАЩs fast-evolving EV landscape. The company, led by billionaire Elon Musk, inaugurated its first retail and service centre in MumbaiтАЩs Bandra Kurla Complex in July 2025, with the Model Y becoming the brandтАЩs maiden offering for Indian buyers.

Priced around тВ╣60 lakh (ex-showroom), the Model Y positions Tesla firmly in the premium EV segment, competing with the likes of the BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo XC40 Recharge. While initial batches are being imported as completely built units (CBUs), industry sources suggest Tesla is already scouting sites in Maharashtra and Gujarat for potential local assembly operations.

The company is also laying the groundwork for its famed Supercharger network, with the first V4 fast-charging station already operational in Delhi. TeslaтАЩs India website is live, allowing customers to configure and book their cars online. Deliveries of the Model Y electric SUV have commenced across India in a phased rollout.

Despite the excitement, challenges remain. Import duties, even under the revised policy, keep TeslaтАЩs vehicles out of reach for most Indian buyers. Moreover, IndiaтАЩs charging infrastructure and battery supply chain are still at a nascent stage. Domestic players like Tata Motors and Mahindra are already dominating the affordable EV space, making TeslaтАЩs task of scaling up in India a steep climb.

VinFast enters India with global electric SUV lineup:

VinFast VF7, VinFast VF6
The VinFast VF7 and VF6 are the first launches from the Vietnamese brand in India, made at its assembly plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu

The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has officially entered the Indian market, unveiling its first two models тАФ the VF 6 and VF 7. It also officially inaugurated its electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, marking the companyтАЩs formal entry into IndiaтАЩs rapidly expanding EV manufacturing landscape.

VinFastтАЩs Tamil Nadu facility is spread across 400 acres with an initial annual capacity of 50,000 units, scalable up to 150,000 units. This facility is the companyтАЩs third operational plant and the fifth project in its global manufacturing network. As its first production base outside Vietnam, the site underscores VinFastтАЩs global ambitions and its capability to execute large-scale projects. India is set to become VinFast’s key export hub for right-hand-drive markets. VinFastтАЩs entry signals growing confidence among global EV makers in IndiaтАЩs electrification roadmap and the governmentтАЩs push toward cleaner mobility.

Indian auto industry: The road ahead

India Auto Story 2025
With over 4.3 million passenger vehicles sold last year, India has cemented its position as the third-largest auto market in the world

IndiaтАЩs automobile market stands on the cusp of a structural transformation, driven by accelerated electrification, policy-backed localisation, and a strong rebound in domestic demand. With over 4.3 million passenger vehicles sold last year, India has firmly cemented its position as the worldтАЩs third-largest auto market, but the next phase will be defined more by technology and sustainability than sheer volume.

The governmentтАЩs new EV policyтАФoffering reduced import duties for automakers committing to local productionтАФhas set the stage for global entrants such as Tesla, VinFast, and BYD to establish a footprint in India. Meanwhile, domestic manufacturers like Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki are investing heavily in dedicated EV platforms, battery plants, and connected vehicle ecosystems. Analysts expect EV penetration in passenger cars to rise from the current 3тАУ4 per cent to over 15 per cent by 2030.

Electrification aside, the industryтАЩs evolution will hinge on advanced manufacturing and supply chain localisation. The Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme is catalysing investment in semiconductor components, lithium-ion battery modules, and hydrogen fuel cell systems. Automakers are also transitioning toward software-defined vehicles, integrating over-the-air updates, AI-based driver assistance, and telematics-driven predictive maintenance.

However, the road is not without speed bumps. Charging infrastructure expansion, raw material dependency for battery production, and high acquisition costs continue to slow mass adoption. The ICE (internal combustion engine) segment will remain relevant for the near term, supported by biofuels, CNG, and hybrid technologies.

Still, industry experts view this decade as IndiaтАЩs inflection pointтАФa shift from being a low-cost manufacturing base to a mobility innovation hub. With rising exports, evolving powertrain diversity, and deepening R&D investments, the Indian auto industry is entering a high-tech, low-emission era that could redefine its global competitiveness.

I test drove the 2025 Hyundai Venue in Goa: My all-day experience

I test drove the 2025 Hyundai Venue in Goa: My all-day experience

What's new on Venue?

Although the Venue has not yet been tested by crash agencies, it is expected to perform better than before, as this new architecture is much tougher than the existing K2 platform.

For most people, the 2025 Venue will immediately stand out as a larger, more well-designed SUV. It now looks much more stylish thanks to several new design elements, and its overall appearance is more in line with Hyundai's larger SUVs like the Creta and Alcazar. In fact, many are already calling it the тАЬMini CretaтАЭ тАУ a moniker which, in my opinion, actually works in the VenueтАЩs favour.

More importantly, Hyundai claims that it has significantly improved the safety of the SUV by transitioning to the new global K1 platform. Although the Venue has not yet been tested by crash agencies, it is expected to perform better than before, as this new architecture is much stiffer than the older K2 platform, with more use of ultra high-strength steel in key structural areas. This is worth noting because design and feature upgrades are expected with any update, but adopting an entirely new platform for better security is a big step.

Kudos to Hyundai for making this a priority.

Hyundai Venue
The larger wheelbase in the new Venue has opened up more legroom for second-row occupants, and although the overall length remains the same, the SUV is now longer and wider.

Also, the main attraction in my opinion is the larger wheelbase which has opened up more legroom for the second row passengers. And yes, the SUV has now become longer and wider, while the overall length remains the same. The rear seat now benefits from a 20 mm longer wheelbase and the scooped-out backs of the front seats, giving passengers a significant increase in knee room. However, the thigh support still leaves room for improvement. Shoulder space has also increased slightly, although fitting three adults on the rear bench remains a tough affair. On the positive side, rear passengers continue to get reclining seats and Hyundai has now added sunshades for added comfort.

Hyundai Venue
The highlight of the cabin is the new 10.25-inch dual-screen setup on the dashboard, which offers a more modern layout with better materials.

The cabin of the Hyundai Venue feels like a worthwhile step up in both quality and experience. The dashboard now gets a cleaner, more modern layout with a redesigned center console and better materials that give a more premium feel. The highlight is the new dual 10.25-inch screen setup тАУ one for the infotainment system and the other for the fully digital instrument cluster тАУ bringing a tech-rich ambience that is usually seen in the above segment. Hyundai has added features that really enhance the everyday practicality, including ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, and connected car tech with expanded functionality. The seats are more supportive, and the increased cabin space makes the Venue more spacious than before. Subtle but thoughtful touches like ambient lighting, Type-C fast charger and improved storage area further enhance the in-cabin utility. It is worth noting that Level-2 ADAS is also available in it.

What's it like to drive?

Hyundai Venue
The new Venue comes with three engine options. We tested the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, which produces 120 bhp and 172 Nm of torque

I admit, I have driven most Hyundai vehicles, but never the Venue. And when I got the opportunity to test drive the 1.0-litre turbo, I immediately said yes. For reference, the SUV is available in several engine and transmission options that are carried over from the previous model year, the only addition being the introduction of an automatic gearbox option on its diesel engines. Powertrain options available on the Hyundai Venue include:

  • 1.2L NA petrol (4-cylinder) 83 hp / 115 Nm: paired with 5-speed manual
  • 1.0 liter turbo-petrol (3-cylinder) 120 hp / 172 Nm: Transmission options: 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT
  • 1.5 liter turbo-diesel (4-cylinder) 116 hp / 250 Nm: Now available with a 6-speed manual along with a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

As I mentioned earlier, driving the Venue was a refreshing experience for me, but one thing immediately became familiar, the refined rumble of its 1.0L turbo-petrol engine and the trademark fluid steering feel that clearly makes a Hyundai, a Hyundai.

Right off the start line, the Venue immediately reminds you that this is a compact SUV built for everyday Indian road conditions. It's a practical package, and its compact footprint inspires confidence, especially when navigating tight, crowded corners where its agility really shines. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit I drove felt lively, especially in Sport mode. However, in Eco and Normal modes, it becomes breathless if you press the accelerator hard. That said, refinement levels are fine, and the 7-speed DCT delivers quick, smooth and predictable gear shifts. However, don't expect it to go fast like a hot-hatch, as it's not really intended to do that. There's a little turbo-lag in the lower rev-range, especially if you try to drive it too enthusiastically, but given the size of the engine, it's nothing I'd complain about. The 1.0 turbo unit has enough power for you to enjoy everyday drives without any theatrics and it delivers exactly that, nothing more.

Handling and Ride Quality:

Hyundai Venue
The Venue's suspension setup does a commendable job of absorbing most of the impact without letting anything harsh enter the cabin.

What really stands out is how confidently the Venue handles broken roads and uneven stretches and Goa had plenty of those on offer. Even before the Venue got onto the highway to stretch its legs, the potholes around the next corner ensured that the suspension was put to work. I even took it to the top of a hill for some epic shots, and the mix of tarmac, rough patches and mild off-road sections gave me a clear feel of Hyundai's suspension tuning. It's clear that the Venue has been engineered as a family-comfort-focused SUV, not something you'd choose for carving corners.

The Venue's suspension setup (MacPherson strut at the front and coupled torsion beam axle at the rear) does a commendable job of absorbing most of the impact without letting anything harsh seep into the cabin. After driving it for a whole day on the bumpy, narrow and winding roads of Goa, I was really impressed with how well the suspension has been tuned to deliver a luxurious, cushy ride.

Last words:

Hyundai Venue
from the new Venue range Rs 7.89 lakh for base model Rs 15.69 lakh for the range-topping diesel automatic version

I've rarely found myself really impressed by sub-compact SUVs, but the new Venue has changed that, despite me not being an SUV person and certainly not a fan of compact SUVs. However, from an average Indian buyer's perspective, the Venue falls short on a lot of parameters. It's not just feature-rich; It presents a compelling value proposition.

Hyundai has kept the starting price attractive 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). However, as you climb the ladder, prices increase rapidly – Rs 14.74 lakh for turbo-petrol DCT, 15.48 lakh for the top-spec N Line, and Rs 15.69 lakh for the diesel automatic тАУ positioning the higher trims among the most expensive trims in the segment. I just wish the top-end variant was priced a little more aggressively, because otherwise, Hyundai has nailed the Venue's brief.

It's clear that the new Venue aims to deliver more value than ever before while remaining competitive. It's grown in size, its feature list has expanded, and it's claimed to be safer thanks to a new platform – all while maintaining the easy, confident driving manners it's always been known for.

2025 Hyundai Venue: Strengths and weaknesses

Hyundai Venue
The new Venue retains its confident driving dynamics while growing in size, expanding its feature suite and enhancing its safety credentials with a new platform.

I love:

  • Updated design, streamlined proportions, modern look
  • Excellent suite of interior features, and excellent cabin feel
  • Comfortable and cushioned ride quality

I dislike:

  • Higher prices on top trims
  • Handling him doesn't inspire confidence
  • Turbo lag on 1.0 liter (3 cylinder) engine
