Built on Hyundai's global K1 enhanced platform, this new model has more height and width, and also gets a longer wheelbase of 2,520 mm, which has improved the cabin space and its presence on the road looks more powerful. It is the first model to be rolled out from the company's new Pune manufacturing plant and is one of the 26 new products Hyundai plans to introduce in India by 2030.

The second-gen Venue sports Hyundai's latest design identity, which includes a dark chrome radiator grille, quad-beam LED headlamps, twin-horn LED DRLs and horizon-style LED tail lamps. Its tall stance, new C-pillar garnish, bridge-type roof rails and in-glass VENUE emblem further add to its premium appeal. Maruti E Vitara will hit the showrooms on 2nd December 2025 (i.e. today) and its official price will also be announced on the same day. It is a 5-seater electric SUV, which will target the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE6 and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV (which will arrive in early 2026). E Vitara will have 49kWh and 61kWh battery options, which will come with electric motor. The dual motor and all-wheel drive setup will be reserved for the larger battery variant. Maruti Suzuki claims that the E Vitara will give a driving range of more than 500 km.

Talking about the features, it will get panoramic sunroof, new seat upholstery and trims, redesigned dashboard and control panel. Mechanically, there will be no changes in the 2026 Kia Seltos.

The 2026 Renault Duster will come only with petrol engines, in which 1.0 liter turbo and 1.3 liter turbo engines can probably be found.

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first electric SUV in India, the e Vitara today. Its production has started at the company's Gujarat plant and the initial units are also being exported to international markets. Its design is inspired by its ICE variant and it has been provided with electric powertrain, which will be available in both FWD and AWD configurations, to meet the different needs of the customers. This launch is a big milestone for Maruti Suzuki, as the company is entering the electric SUV segment for the first time.

Maruti Suzuki E Vitara will come with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller battery pack will power a single-motor setup that will drive the front wheels, while the larger battery pack will support a dual-motor configuration that will provide all-wheel drive, which Suzuki has named AllGrip-E. Due to this flexibility, customers can choose efficiency or performance as per their need, with the larger battery variant being considered the premium option in the lineup.

Range
As per the WLTP test cycle, the e-Vitrara with 61 kWh battery and front-wheel drive offers the longest range, which is 428 km, followed by the all-wheel drive variant at 394 km. The base 49 kWh model gives a range of 344 km. The front-wheel drive e-Vitra is expected to be launched in India first with a larger battery pack, giving a range of over 500 km as per ARAI rating, while the dual-motor variant will arrive later.

Design
Design highlights of the e-Vitara include three-point matrix LED DRLs integrated with the headlights, massive bumpers with piano-black finish, and 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels with a blacked out look. Its 3D profile and three-point matrix tail lamps complete its styling, which is very similar to the ICE Vitara, but with modern EV touches.

In the interior, E Vitara has ventilated front seats, 10-way power driver seat and flexible rear seating. Safety and convenience features include seven airbags, level-2 ADAS with autonomous functions, 360-degree camera, wireless charging, keyless entry, ride-by-wire technology and ambient lighting for a premium cabin experience.

Launch day and price outlook

The new electric SUV will be introduced on December 2, with a price expected to be around 17-22 lakh (ex-showroom). If Maruti keeps it in this bracket, the e-Vitara will enter the same price zone as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curve EV, Mahindra BE6 and MG Windsor EV. Fast-charging capability via both AC and DC systems is expected to be standard across all variants.

Battery pack, performance and range

Maruti's first EV is expected to come with two battery options, aimed to cater to different buyer needs:

  • 49 kWh pack – positioned as a more affordable and city-friendly option
  • 61 kWh pack – estimated to provide a useful driving range of up to 500 km

Power figures are likely to fall between 142 bhp and 172 bhp, with torque estimated to be around 192.5 Nm. Initial versions are expected to run on front-wheel drive, while an all-wheel-drive configuration is planned for a later stage.

On the inside, the e-Vitara is expected to offer a more upscale experience than any current Maruti SUV. Key features expected to be introduced include:

These teasers make it clear that what was revealed in the recent spy shots is correct: the 2026 Seltos will be bigger, sharper and more premium than before.

The biggest change could be the curved twin-screen setup — as seen in new Kia and Hyundai models — with two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital cluster.

New transmission and hybrid option expected
Engine options for India remain the same – 1.5-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. However, a new 7-speed automatic transmission is expected for the diesel, which will replace the old 6AT. Globally, the 2026 Seltos will also come with a hybrid powertrain with an electric motor along with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which will produce around 141 hp and 265 Nm of power. Whether this hybrid option will come to India or not remains to be seen, but Kia is keeping an eye on this fast-growing segment.

Possibility of safety upgrades
Kia can also improve the ADAS features in the new Seltos. The current model has Level 2 ADAS features, and the facelift may bring better sensors, updated software and more features. Given the increasing focus on safety in the segment — especially with rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Grand Vitara, Hyrider, Elevate, Taigun, Kushaq and the upcoming Tata Sierra — Kia could further strengthen its safety offering.

India launch timeline
While the global and India premiere will take place on December 10, the India launch is expected to take place in early 2026. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma recently took delivery of his new Tesla Model Y in Glacier Blue color option. Interestingly, he is one of the original 2016 Tesla Model 3 reservation holders, after all he has got the much-awaited booking. Sharma was photographed taking delivery from Sharad Agarwal, the new general manager of Tesla India, at the newly opened Tesla Center in Gurugram, Haryana.

The Tesla Model Y marks the US-based EV maker's entry into the Indian market, slated to be launched in July 2025 in two variants. The premium electric crossover is the brand's global best-seller and has reached our shores in rear-wheel drive configuration. Based on the Model 3 platform, it comes with higher height and more cabin space. Available in both Standard and Long Range variants, Model Y prices in India start at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Model Y RWD comes with two battery packs: the base 60 kWh unit offers a single-charge range of up to 500 km (WLTP), while the 75 kWh battery extends it to 622 km (WLTP). These are supplied by a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 295 bhp. With this, the Model Y can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds. The electric SUV is compatible with Tesla Superchargers, said to replenish a range of between 238 km to 267 km with a 15-minute charge, depending on the battery pack.

The minimalist cabin takes some getting used to, especially due to the lack of buttons. The infotainment screen on this e-SUV is the command center.

Model Y brings minimalist interior with a fixed glass roof and acoustic laminated glass panels for better sound insulation. It gets a clean dashboard design with everything integrated into the 15.4-inch central touchscreen, while rear passengers get an 8-inch rear screen. The EV features dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, a power-operated tailgate and a panoramic roof.

Honda is currently preparing to enter the sub-4 meter SUV segment. The company has announced that it will soon launch a new SUV to compete with Nexon, which is expected by next year. This new SUV will share its platform and many features with Honda Amaze. Talking about the design, a boxy design can be seen in it, which means it will not look like Amaze. Talking about the features, the same features as Amaze can be found in it, but some new features like big touchscreen, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat, sunroof, digital instrument cluster etc. can also be seen.

1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine
