Made in India Maruti Baleno turns out to be a 'fuss' in foreign crash test, gets only 2 stars

Made in India Maruti Baleno turns out to be a 'fuss' in foreign crash test, gets only 2 stars

New Delhi. The Indian-made Suzuki Baleno failed in the Tin New Car Assessment Program (LNCAP) crash test. The Latin Safety Rating Agency tested the latest model of this car in which six airbags are provided as standard and it has received a 2-star rating. Although this result is not satisfactory, it is much better than the LNCAP test results of 2021, when the car got a zero-star rating. The models of that time had only two airbags.

Popular Baleno in India
Baleno is a popular premium hatchback in India and is also exported to many countries. In the LNCAP evaluation, it scored 31.75 out of 35, giving a rating of 79.38 percent for adult occupant protection. For child occupant protection, it got 32.08 points out of 49, which is equal to 65.46 percent rating.

pedestrian safety
In the pedestrian safety category, the hatchback scored 23.17 out of 36, giving a rating of 48.28 percent. The safety assist test got a rating of 58.14 percent with 25 points. The vehicle was tested for frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection and electronic stability control (ESC).

Improve Occupant Protection
In its latest version, the Baleno showed significant improvement in occupant protection during crash tests, especially due to the standard side body and curtain airbags. These features improved head protection in a side impact, while chest protection in a side collision was also better than previous results.

Frontal Impact Test
The frontal impact test results found the structure and footwell to be stable, resulting in the same level of safety for both the driver and passenger. Child occupant safety remained strong when rearward-facing child seats were used with ISOFIX mounts, although the lack of a passenger airbag deactivation switch posed a problem for secure installation in the front seat.

price in india
Currently, Maruti Suzuki Baleno is available in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It has a 1.2-liter K-series petrol engine, which generates power of 90 HP and peak torque of 113 Nm. It has the option of five-speed manual or five-speed AMT. The company also offers the option of CNG powertrain. Its ARAI claimed mileage is 22.35 kmpl, while the new AMT version gets a mileage of 22.94 kmpl.

This 'Chhotu' car made a big splash in the Indian market, all the units were sold as soon as it was launched.

New Delhi. Mini's new lifestyle car has made a strong entry in the Indian market. The first batch of the recently launched Mini Cooper S Convertible was completely sold out within just one day of its launch, which clearly shows that despite the premium price and limited practicality, the demand for cars made for special and enthusiasts is increasing rapidly. The ex-showroom price of this car is Rs 58.50 lakh and currently it is the cheapest convertible car in India. Mini has confirmed that all of the initial batch of units were sold out in just 24 hours. With demand exceeding supply, dealerships have now started taking pre-orders for the second batch, which is expected to reach India in early 2026. This model is being sold as a fully imported CBU.

Convertible booms in SUV market
Selling out so quickly is also special because SUVs dominate the Indian market and cars like the Cooper S Convertible generally prioritize driving fun and design over practicality. Despite this, its success is similar to that of limited edition cars like the Skoda Octavia RS and Volkswagen Golf GTI, which were sold out immediately after launch. At the same time, some premium imported SUVs like Volkswagen Tiguan R Line are not able to find buyers despite huge discounts.

Engine and Power
Mini Cooper S Convertible has a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 204bhp power and 300Nm torque. It has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which supplies power to the front wheels. This car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds and its top speed is around 240 km/h. Keeping in mind its sporty identity, it has a perfect combination of fast performance, compact size and excellent handling.

Electrically Operated Fabric Roof
The highlight of this convertible is its electrically operated fabric roof, which opens completely in 18 seconds and closes in 15 seconds, that too in a car moving at a speed of 30 km/hr. It also has a partial 'sunroof' mode, which provides flexibility. Inside the cabin, there is a combination of modern technology with retro design, which includes premium features like central OLED touchscreen (Mini OS 9), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, head-up display, powered front seats with massage function for the driver, ambient lighting and Harman Kardon sound system.

Changing preferences of buyers
The instant sell-out of the first batch shows that buyer preferences are changing in the high-end market, where emotional appeal, exclusivity and driving fun are becoming more important than traditional things like space and body style. There is demand for the second batch as well, which clearly shows that the Mini Cooper S Convertible has firmly established itself as a stylish lifestyle car on Indian roads.

1985 to 2024! This car continues to dominate the market even after 40 years, will be number 1 even in 2025

New Delhi. Something amazing has been witnessed in the Indian Passenger Vehicle (PV) market. Only once in the 40 years from 1985 to 2024 has a sedan topped India's annual car sales chart. This happened in 2018, when Maruti Suzuki Dezire became the best-selling car in the country. Sedans are going to top the sales charts once again in 2025. Once again this model is Maruti Suzuki Dezire. Even after so many years, no other sedan has been able to compete with it.

Creta left behind
The country's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has sold 1,95,416 units of Dezire in the domestic market between January and November this year. This is 7,448 units ahead of the second model, which is Hyundai Motor India's popular SUV Creta, which has sold 1,87,968 units. Dezire is going to become number one at a time when the sedan segment is facing tough competition from the SUV segment. The PV market share of sedans is less than 10%, while SUVs contribute about 55%.

An industry expert told Moneycontrol, “The reason for Dzire's popularity in India is its price, positioning and scale. It also benefits from Maruti Suzuki's strong sales and service network, be it in urban or rural areas.”

Multiple powertrain options

Attention Fortuner Lovers! You will spend so much money in daily running, bill worth lakhs in 5 years

Attention Fortuner Lovers! You will spend so much money in daily running, bill worth lakhs in 5 years

Fortuner is one of the favorite cars of many people in India. Especially when it comes to luxury SUV, Toyota Fortuner is considered the first choice. Many common middle class people also dream of buying it. But have you ever thought how expensive it can be to keep this car and drive it daily?

Usually people just look at the price of the car, but the real game starts after buying the car. Expenses are distributed everywhere from insurance to maintenance, fuel, parking. If you calculate an average, the cost of owning a Fortuner can be heavy on your pocket. Fortuner comes at a price of around ₹ 55 lakh and if you drive it daily, what will be the total running cost in a month, let us tell you the complete details about it.

driver salary

According to Ankur Wariko's YouTube video, most people hire drivers for cars like Fortuner. Considering the expensive vehicle and safety, the driver salary for these cars is also high. The average salary of a Fortuner driver is considered to be around ₹ 25,000 per month. That means Rs 3 lakh is spent on the driver alone in a year.

diesel cost

SUVs have low mileage and high fuel costs. If the Fortuner drives about 50 kilometers a day, then about ₹ 15,000 is spent only on diesel in a month. However, if the car remains stuck in city traffic or travels a lot on the highway, this expense can increase further.

insurance expenses

Insurance of luxury cars is also not a small expense. The average EMI of insurance for Fortuner is around ₹ 8,000 per month. This cost may vary slightly depending on the age, model and claim history of the vehicle.

car maintenance

Being an SUV, the maintenance cost of Fortuner is also quite high. On an average, it costs ₹ 6,000 per month for servicing like brake pads, suspension and wheel alignment. As the vehicle gets older, this expense may gradually increase.

parking charge

SUV parking fares are very high in big cities. A big car like Fortuner requires a secure space, where the average rent is assumed to be Rs 5,000 per month. If you live in a working area, this price may be even higher.

Cleaning and Car Care

It is not easy to handle big vehicles. On average, Rs 3,000 per month is spent on daily washing and polishing.

Tolls and other small expenses

If you add toll tax, time-to-time repairs, punctures, minor defects, new fines, car accessories and other miscellaneous expenses, the expenses add up to around Rs 6,000 more every month.

This much will be spent every month

Adding all these expenses, the total cost of running a Fortuner in a month comes to around ₹ 68,000. That means it will cost approximately ₹ 4,000 every day.

If the price of the car is considered to be around ₹55 lakh and the monthly running cost can be around ₹68,000, then the total expenditure in five years comes to around ₹96 lakh. This means that in five years after purchasing the car, you can spend around ₹ 70 lakh only on this car.

Why is it expensive to drive a Fortuner?

Fortuner is a high-class SUV, which has a big engine. Apart from this the fuel mileage is less. Additionally, service parts are expensive and items like tires and brakes have a short life. Their insurance and taxes are also higher.

In this sense, owning a Fortuner is not just a hobby but also an expensive responsibility. In India, where the middle class spends a major part of its income on EMIs and necessities, a luxury car makes one spend ₹ 4,000 daily. So if you are thinking of buying a Fortuner, then make the purchase by paying attention not only to the purchasing budget but also to its daily budget.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris sold more than 30,000 units in 2 months after its launch in India. It is equipped with level-2 ADAS, under-floor CNG, powered tailgate and 8-speaker Infinity sound system. The company is selling this car from Arena dealership so that it can reach more buyers. This strategy of the company seems to be successful.

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki's much awaited mid-size SUV – Victoris, has been launched in India some time ago. This car is getting a lot of love from buyers in India. More than 30,000 buyers bought this SUV of the company in 2 months. Victoris has been included as a flagship product in the Arena portfolio of the brand. Earlier there were reports that it will be named Escudo and it will get a 3-row seating layout. However, it is a 5-seater SUV and directly competes with vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier. The special thing is that Maruti Suzuki has made it its 'Halo' product, in which many 'first-ever' and some special features have been given for the brand. Here we are telling about these features.

  • Maruti Suzuki's first car with Level-2 ADAS – The country's largest car manufacturer had till now stayed away from Level-2 ADAS features. But with the ADAS L2 safety suite in Victoris, it has become the first car of the brand in which this technology has been provided. It has many active safety features like emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control.
  • Under-floor mounted CNG tank-Tata Motors and Hyundai have been using dual-cylinder CNG technology for a long time. Customers were demanding similar technology from Maruti Suzuki for a long time, which has now been completed. In Victoris, the CNG tank is placed under the boot floor, which provides a lot of space in the trunk.
  • Powered tailgate with gesture control – This is also the first time for Maruti Suzuki that it has been provided with a powered tailgate. The bootlid of the Victoris can also be opened with a kick-to-open gesture or the key fob. Although the actual capacity of the boot has not been revealed yet, but this time Maruti Suzuki has paid special attention to the boot space, as it was a big issue in the Grand Vitara.
  • Maruti's biggest display till date – Maruti Suzuki has also taken a big step in the matter of screen. It has the largest touchscreen ever. The new SmartPlay Pro The instrument cluster is also now completely digital, with a new 10.25-inch LCD display.
  • 8-Speaker Surround Sound System – In the competition, we have seen great sound systems from brands like JBL, Harman and Bose. Maruti Suzuki till now did not offer a sound system with more than 6 speakers, but with Victoris this limit has also been broken. Maruti Suzuki Victoris has been provided with Infinity's 8-speaker surround sound system, which also has Dolby Atmos 5.1 channel support.

Lexus LX 470
SP Aslam Chaudhary leaves no stone unturned in chasing Rehman dacoit and his gang and his favorite ride is Lexus LX. This white colored SUV perfectly complements Sanjay Dutt's powerful and aggressive screen presence. From dodging a hail of bullets to the epic chase sequence, the LX 470 showcased its power and style brilliantly and stood tall alongside Dutt in the high-octane moments of the film.

land cruiser defender
Major Iqbal, played by Arjun Rampal, is seen getting down from a Land Cruiser Defender in the film. In the Indian market, 2.0-litre petrol engine option is available in Land Rover Defender. However, unlike the V8, this option is only available with the 110 body style and X-Dynamic HSE trim. Apart from this, it also has a 3.0-litre diesel engine, which comes in all three body styles 90, 110 and 130 with X-Dynamic HSE, X and Sedona Edition.

Isuzu D-Max
Isuzu D-Max Known for its off-road capability and robust design, the Isuzu D-Max protects the convoy of Rehman dacoit. It runs fast through traffic and crosses bad roads with ease, wasting no time in chasing the dacoit's enemies. If we talk about details, Isuzu D-Max has a 1.9-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which generates 162 bhp power and 360 Nm torque. It has a 6-speed automatic gearbox, although manual option is also available.

tata xenon

This rugged pickup was used to block Rehman's escape route and was seen as the official vehicle of the Liari Task Force in the film, giving realism to the high-intensity chase sequences.

toyota land cruiser 60 series
Akshay Khanna is garnering praise for his role of Rehman Dacoit in the film, especially the audience is liking his entry song, which has energetic beats and his catchy hookstep. Later, when Rahman goes to meet the Afghan insurgents, one detail that immediately caught the eye was the presence of a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60, which added roughness to the scene and made the film's action even more powerful. The Toyota Land Cruiser 60 Series was produced between 1980 and 1990 and is no longer in production. It had a manual and later automatic gearbox, solid axles, leaf springs and reliable 4WD. Because of these features, the FJ60 was known for its ruggedness and off-road capability.
