Hyundai Venue is getting a lot of customers.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has started the financial year 2027 on a great note. In April 2026, the company has registered domestic sales of 51,902 units in India, which is a record for any April month so far. In April 2025, the company had sold 44,374 units, which means an annual growth (YoY) of 16.96% has been recorded this year. Talking about total sales (domestic + export), the company has sold 65,610 units in April 2026.

This figure is 7.96% more than last year's 60,774 units. However, there was a decline in exports. The company exported 13,708 units in April 2026, which is 16.41% less than 16,400 units in April 2025. There has been a slight decline (5.74%) in domestic sales compared to March 2026, but the strong year-on-year growth indicates continued demand in the Indian market.

Hyundai Venue broke records

The biggest star of the company's success in April was Hyundai Venue. It posted its best ever monthly performance with domestic sales of 12,420 units. Recently, the confidence of buyers has increased after Venue and Venue N Line received 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. New updates, special editions and better safety features have made this sub-4 meter SUV more attractive.

The ex-showroom price of Hyundai Venue ranges between ₹8 lakh to ₹15.82 lakh. Its design is premium with a bold grille and connected LED taillamps. Features include 12.3-inch screen, 6 airbags, 360 degree camera, ADAS level 2 and sunroof. It comes in 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo and 1.5L diesel engine options. The mileage is 18 to 21 km/litre and it has got a 5-star safety rating in BNCAP.

Impact of product updates

Hyundai believes that product interventions made in various segments made this growth possible. Vehicles like Exeter, Verna, Creta (Summer Edition) and Ioniq 5 performed well. Apart from this, limited editions like Grand i10 Nios Vibe Edition and Venue Night Edition have kept the lineup fresh. The company maintains a strong presence in all major segments of hatchback, sedan, SUV and electric vehicles.

Domestic Focus Strategy

Despite fluctuations in the export market, Hyundai mainly focused on the domestic market in April. Strong demand for the SUV segment in the Indian market and the company's refreshed product range delivered good results. Experts believe that Hyundai will maintain this momentum in the coming times through new launches and updates. It will also try to keep the export strategy balanced amidst the challenges of the global market.

Toyota Motor Corporation is planning to build three new vehicle assembly plants in India. With this, the company's production capacity in the country will more than double to 10 lakh units annually by 2030. According to Nikkei Asia report, due to recession in mature markets like America and China, global automakers are turning towards emerging markets. Toyota is also making India a major center of its future expansion.

New plants will be built in the state of Maharashtra. The first plant will be operational in 2029, while the remaining two will be operational in the 2030s. The total investment is estimated to be approximately 300 billion yen (about 1.9 billion dollars). These plants will not only serve as export hubs for the Indian market but also for the growing markets of Africa and the Middle East. Logistics is convenient due to Mumbai port being in Maharashtra. India's strong trade links with Africa-Middle East will boost exports.

Toyota's future plan

Currently, Toyota has three plants in South India, which mainly supply to the domestic market. With the new plants there will be a total of six factories. The new facility will produce three-row SUVs, which are quite popular in India and other emerging markets. It will be launched under the Corolla model. Apart from this, plug-in hybrid vehicles will also be manufactured, which will attract environmentally conscious customers.

India is an emerging market

India is currently the third largest market in the world in terms of sales of new vehicles. According to GlobalData, new vehicle sales in India are expected to reach 64.4 lakh units by 2030, which is 20% more than 2025. Africa's population is set to double to 2.5 billion by 2050, while the population of the Middle East is set to increase by 50% to 700 million. India's population will also reach 1.7 billion. It is clear from these figures that Toyota's growth in western markets will largely depend on India-based exports.

Dominance of Japanese companies

India has proved to be a fertile land for Japanese companies. Suzuki Motor has been active here since 1982 and its subsidiary Maruti Suzuki holds 40% share in the passenger vehicle market. Suzuki also supplies some models to Toyota, like Maruti EVX. Toyota is strong in the minivan, SUV and hybrid segments, which is meeting the growing demand of the middle class.

Other companies from all over the world are also investing heavily in India. Hyundai Motor bought General Motors' plant in 2023 and increased SUV production. The company holds more than 10% share in the Indian passenger vehicle market. Toyota's current production capacity is 31 lakh units in Japan, 22 lakh in China and 15 lakh units in America. With the new Indian plants, India will become the company's fourth largest production base.

Design and interior

The Kushaq Facelift gets a new front grille with a connected LED light bar, slim LED headlamps, a new bumper and at the rear, connected LED taillights with illuminated Skoda logo. Hyryder also has 6 airbags, good safety features, but has not yet got 5-star in GNCAP test. In terms of family safety, both the SUVs are good.

Engine and Mileage

The Skoda Kushaq can be bought with a 1.0 liter TSI turbo-petrol (115 PS/178 Nm) engine, mated to a 6MT or the new 8-speed TC AT. The second 1.5 liter TSI (150 PS/250 Nm) engine comes with 7-speed DSG. Its ARAI claimed mileage is around 18.72-19.76 kmpl.

Toyota Hyryder has a 1.5 liter petrol (101 bhp/137 Nm) engine, which also comes with MT/AT, AWD option and CNG. The strong hybrid (1490 cc TNGA + electric motor) is offered with e-CVT, producing 115 bhp power. Its ARAI claimed mileage goes up to 27.97 kmpl.

Our advice: Kushaq Facelift will suit those who want stylish look, premium interior, powerful engine and top safety. Hyryder is best suited for family users who want low fuel economy, hybrid technology, reliability and good resale value. Take a test drive and choose an SUV as per your requirement. Prices and features may change over time.

Why is Maruti Ertiga better than Triber and Gravite? Understand in 5 points

Why is Maruti Ertiga better than Triber and Gravite? Understand in 5 points

Buyers looking for a 7-seater family MPV in the Indian car market today have three strong options – Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault Triber and the newly launched Nissan Gravite. Category-wise, the Triber and Gravitas fall in the sub-4 meter segment and attract budget buyers with quite aggressive pricing (starting at ₹5.65 lakh).

Maruti Ertiga, despite being a bit expensive (starting from ₹ 8.80 lakh), has remained the most favorite family car in this segment for the last many years. In such a situation, the question is why people prefer to buy Maruti Ertiga despite cheaper options being available in the budget? Let us know the 5 main reasons that make Ertiga better.

1. Better power and performance

Maruti Ertiga has a 1.5-litre K15C smart hybrid engine, which gives 102 bhp power and 136.8 Nm torque. Whereas both Renault Triber and Nissan Gravite have 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine, which gives only 71-72 bhp power and about 96-97 Nm torque.

Even with seven occupants, the Ertiga feels more comfortable and confident in overtaking and long driving on the highway. Triber and Gravite are fine for the city, but the engine seems to struggle under full load. Ertiga's smooth hybrid system also provides extra boost.

2. More space and practicality

The Ertiga is a full-size MPV, which is significantly larger than the Triber/Gravite in length, width and wheelbase. This gives passengers more leg room, head room and shoulder room in the second and third rows. The family gets less tired during long trips.

The Triber and Gravite are good at modular seating (removable third row), but the Ertiga's cabin feels more premium, quiet and comfortable overall. Boot space also gives better options in loading.

3. Better mileage and CNG option

Ertiga gives a mileage of up to 20.5 kmpl in petrol, while the CNG variant gets an ARAI claimed mileage of up to 26 km/kg. In the real world, one gets good run on CNG even in the city. Triber and Gravite are mainly dependent on petrol and their mileage is less than Ertiga CNG.

4. Service Network, Reliability and Resale Value

Maruti Suzuki has the largest service network across the country. Spare parts are cheap and easily available. Users have high confidence in the build quality and long-term reliability of Ertiga. Service centers for the Triber and Gravite are currently limited and availability of parts or service cost can sometimes be an issue. Additionally, the resale value of the Ertiga is very strong.

5. Balance of premium feel, safety and features

The interior of Ertiga looks more mature and family-oriented. There are better materials, automatic climate control, cruise control and a good infotainment system. Safety features have also been strengthened in recent updates. Triber and Gravite offer good features (touchscreen, wireless connectivity) in the budget segment, but Ertiga is ahead in overall build, ride quality and highway stability.

Our advice: The Renault Triber and Nissan Gravite are good 7-seater options in the budget, but the Maruti Ertiga is a better choice for families who want more power, space, comfort, reliability and resale value. The price is a bit high (starting at ₹ 8.80 lakh), but it will prove to be better in the long run.

Small elephant or big truck? Who will earn more in transport business?

Small elephant or big truck? Who will earn more in transport business?

Transport business is a good option in today's time. Due to increasing demand for e-commerce, FMCG, industrial goods and agricultural products, the need for freight transportation is continuously increasing. However, while starting a new business, the biggest question is whether to buy a 'small elephant' i.e. Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) or a big truck i.e. Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV).

Both have their own advantages and disadvantages, which depend on your need, budget, route and market. If you want to start a transport business in the coming days, we will help you. In this article, let us try to know which one will be more profitable to buy between small truck (LCV) and big truck (HCV)?

Little elephant for what?

Small Elephant (LCV) is mainly a vehicle with a payload capacity of 2 to 8 tonnes. Models like Tata Ace, Ashok Leyland Partner or Mahindra are included in this. Their ex-showroom price ranges from around Rs 7 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. On-road price reaches around Rs 8-18 lakh. LCV is perfect for intra-city, local delivery, last-mile and short-medium distance routes.

The advantages are that they can move easily on roads, even in narrow lanes, the driver can easily drive (in many cases an LMV license is sufficient) and maintenance and fuel costs are relatively low. This is a safe option for beginning entrepreneurs or people with small budget. Earnings can be steady from small daily orders, such as e-commerce packages, groceries or local supplies.

Who should buy a big truck?

Large Truck (HCV) has the capacity to carry a payload of more than 16 tonnes. It is suitable for long distance, intercity and heavy industrial cargo (coal, cement, steel etc.). The price of HCV can range from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 65 lakh or more. In this, HMV license is necessary, more training and experience of the driver is also required. The advantage is that the cost per tonne-kilometre is less. The earning potential is higher by carrying more goods in one trip, especially when a good contract is available. But the initial investment is high, fuel expenses are high, toll tax is high and the risk of breakdown also increases.

decision according to budget

If your budget is Rs 15-20 lakh and you are starting a business for the first time, then it would be better to start with LCV. This reduces the risk and gives time to understand the market. Fleet can be increased later. If you have an investment of more than Rs 40 lakh, good contracts and long-distance experience, then HCV can prove beneficial.

Choose as per your need

If you have work in the city or surrounding area then take LCV. If heavy goods have to be transported from factory to factory or at the state level, then HCV will be ideal. Always take full account of route profile, load availability, fuel efficiency and maintenance costs. Also keep in mind permits, insurance and driver availability.

Neither one of them is right or wrong. Success will depend on your planning, market connections and proper use of the vehicle. Many people start with a small elephant and gradually increase their fleet. Take a decision after thoroughly understanding your financial situation and local demand. By choosing the right option, the transport business will not only become sustainable but will also give good profits.

Honda's big bang! New City Facelift and ZR-V Hybrid coming on May 22

Honda's big bang! New City Facelift and ZR-V Hybrid coming on May 22

Honda Cars India is going to launch two important models on 22 May 2026. 2026 Honda City facelift and new ZR-V hybrid SUV are going to come in a new avatar. This launch is part of the company's strategy to make a comeback and strengthen the premium segment in the Indian market.

Both these launches are the first step in Honda's bigger plan to bring 10 new cars (of which 7 are SUVs) in India by 2030. The company is focusing on the premium segment to increase sales and meet the SUV demand. The official price, variants and full specifications of both models will be revealed on 22 May 2026. For now let's take a look at the possible details.

2026 Honda City

It has been three years since the fifth generation City was launched in March 2023. Now its second facelift is about to come. The updates will mainly be minor, which may include slight changes to the exterior design, new LED lights, revised front and rear bumpers, as well as feature upgrades on the interior.

The company is expected to retain the existing engine options. It will be offered with 1.5-litre petrol (121 PS) and 1.5-litre diesel (100 PS) engines, manual and CVT transmission. The hybrid variant has not been confirmed yet. Features include large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, sunroof, safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and use of premium materials.

With the sedan segment shrinking in favor of SUVs, this facelift will help keep the City competitive against competitors like the Verna, Virtus and Slavia. There is a possibility of a slight increase in prices, which will remain around the current range (about ₹ 12-20 lakh ex-showroom).

New Honda ZR-V Hybrid

The ZR-V will be the new nameplate for Honda in India and will come as a full CBU (Completely Built Unit) import. This premium 5-seater SUV will be the company's hello/brand-builder model, which will be positioned below the CR-V and in the mid-size premium SUV segment.

The ZR-V is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre Strong Hybrid (e:HEV) powertrain, which can produce a total of 184 PS of power. It is said to have excellent fuel efficiency and a range of about 1000 kilometers per tank. The design will have attractive LED headlamps, large grille, sloping bonnet, 19-inch alloy wheels and sporty profile.

The interior will have premium features like large touchscreen, Google based infotainment, ADAS, panoramic sunroof, high-quality materials and comfortable seating. This model will compete with the likes of VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq/Tayron and other premium 5-seater SUVs. The price is likely to be around ₹40-45 lakh (ex-showroom).

'Top' features are available in the base variants of these SUVs; Price starts from ₹8 lakh

'Top' features are available in the base variants of these SUVs; Price starts from ₹8 lakh

The demand for compact and sub-compact SUVs is continuously increasing in the Indian car market. Especially for those buyers who want a vehicle with good features, safety and performance in the budget, the base variant is no longer as basic as before. In many models, 6 airbags, touchscreen, power windows and good safety features are available in the base variant only.

In this article we will compare the base variants of three popular SUVs – Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Venue. These three vehicles are strong contenders in terms of style, practicality and value for money. Their updated version in 2026 has created a stir in the market, where even the base models are quite loaded. If you want to buy an SUV in a budget of Rs 10-15 lakh, then it can be beneficial to look at their base variants.

Skoda Kushaq

The ex-showroom price of its base variant Classic Plus 1.0 TSI MT starts from around ₹ 10.69 lakh. It has been made more attractive in the 2026 facelift. A single-pane sunroof is standard in the base model, which is a big plus point in this segment.

Features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, height adjustable driver seat, power windows and LED headlamps. In terms of safety, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and 5-star GNCAP rating make it strong.

The engine is a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol, which delivers good power (about 115 PS) and driving dynamics. Mileage can be around 19-20 kmpl. The specialty of Kushaq is its strong build quality, European handling and spacious cabin. The base variant is a sensible choice for those who give priority to driving enjoyment and safety. However, some premium features like larger screen or ventilated seats are available in higher variants.

Kia Seltos

The price of the base variant HTE of the new 2026 generation Seltos starts at ₹ 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Seltos has always been feature-packed and even the base model is no behind. Safety features like 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, cruise control, manual AC with rear vents, rear camera, 6 airbags and ESC are available here. The 12-inch digital cluster and good build quality give a premium feel to the cabin.

Engine options include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (MT), which is smooth and fuel efficient. Diesel and turbo options are also available. The specialty of Seltos is large cabin space, comfortable ride and modern design. The base variant is good for family users who want features and comfort without spending much. It is a little more expensive than the Kushaq, but offers more space and a refined feel.

Hyundai Venue

Venue is the most affordable option in the sub-4 meter SUV segment. Ex-showroom prices for the base HX2 variant start at around ₹ 8 lakh, making it attractive for budget buyers. Projector headlamps, touchscreen infotainment, digital cluster, 6 airbags and basic safety features are available in the base model. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is adequate for city driving, while turbo and diesel options are also available. Mileage remains good (18-21 kmpl).

The strengths of Venue are its compact size, easy maneuverability, stylish looks and Hyundai's strong service network. However, it is much smaller than the Kushaq and Seltos, so rear space and boot space may be limited. The base variant is best for young buyers or first-time SUV buyers who want modern features in a low budget.

Our advice: The base variants of all three SUVs have now become quite mature. Skoda Kushaq leads in driving dynamics, safety and build quality, especially in terms of sunroof and handling. Kia Seltos is balanced in features, space and premium feel, while Hyundai Venue is the most affordable and perfect for the city.

In terms of price, Venue is the most affordable, followed by Kushaq and then Seltos. If your priority is driving fun and safety, choose Kushaq, Seltos for family comfort and Venue for budget + style. Ultimately the decision depends on your needs, budget and test drive.

For as much as America sells one car, China gives away 5 EVs for that much!

For as much as America sells one car, China gives away 5 EVs for that much!

For the price of an average new car in America, five new electric vehicles (EVs) can be purchased in China. This shocking revelation has been made in a recent report by Reuters, which highlights the growing price gap between the automobile markets of America and China. The average list price of new cars in the US in March 2026 was $51,456, based on data from Kelley Blue Book.

At the same time, more than 200 battery-powered models (including hybrids) are available in China for less than $25,000. According to data from the Decar platform, the five best-selling electric vehicles in China start at less than $12,000. That means, at the price of an average car in America, a Chinese customer can buy all five of these EVs together.

Why is China cheaper than America?

Due to hyper-competition in China, prices of new cars have become much lower than in developed markets like America. This price difference is clearly visible in the Beijing Auto Show. However, these small EVs are not available in US showrooms and probably never will be, as the two markets have different regulations, safety standards and consumers.

This situation is posing a challenge for the global auto industry. In China, fast production, low costs and increasing competition have brought EVs within the reach of the common man, while in the US, prices remain high due to inflation, labor costs and other factors. In the coming time, this difference may also affect trade policies and tariffs. Come, let us know about these five cars.

Geely EX2

Its starting price is around $10,060. It was the best-selling model of any type of vehicle in China in 2025. It has a front trunk, a 14.6-inch touchscreen and a range of about 255 miles (according to Chinese test standards). According to auto analyst Felipe Munoz, “When you sit inside, it does not look like a small car, both the quality and size feel better.”

Wuling Hongguang MiniEV

Its starting price is $6,560. This car with affordable and attractive design is coming with four-door. Its top speed is 62 miles per hour and range is about 127 miles.

BYD Seagull

It can be purchased for only $10,200. This model of BYD has become increasingly popular. The 2026 version has features like lidar, fast charging and a range of up to 314 miles. Apart from this, at fourth and fifth place are BYD Yuan UP ($10,945) and BYD Qin Plus DM ($11,675) respectively.

BYD's small EVs have sold more than 7 lakh units in China in the last 12 months, making the company the largest seller of small electric vehicles. At the same time, the trend of making and selling small cars is less in America. Apart from this, there are still very few cheap and good EV options in India.
