Tata Motors is rapidly strengthening its electric vehicle (EV) line-up. Recently the first test mule of Tata Safari EV has been spotted on Indian roads. This will be Tata's first 7-seater electric SUV, which will be built on the Acti.EV+ platform along with Harrier EV. Despite being highly camouflaged, the test car showed no exhaust pipes, despite housing the electric motor on the rear axle.

This model will have the same body shell as the petrol engined Safari, which will include connected taillights and roofline. The launch is expected to happen around the festive season 2026. Safari EV will compete with 7-seater EVs like Mahindra XEV9. This premium family can become the country's first proper three-row SUV in the EV segment. Long range and luxury features with AWD option will make it attractive. Let's take a look at its possible design, battery, motor and range details.

possible design

The design of Safari EV will be very similar to the ICE model. Closed-off grille, EV-specific badging, aero-optimized alloy wheels and revised bumpers will be the major changes. New color options can also be available. From the spy shots it seems that it will keep the same rear suspension setup as the Harrier EV.

Cabin and Comfort

No major changes are expected in the interior. The dual-tone theme, high-quality materials and 3-row seating will remain intact. Luxury elements like 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch digital driver display, panoramic sunroof and ventilated front-rear seats will be provided. EV-specific updates like new themes and trims can be added.

Features and safety

Safari EV can get advanced features like level-2 ADAS, 540-degree camera, wireless charging (front and rear), OTA updates, auto park assist and summon mode. Expanded terrain modes, V2L/V2V capability and a premium audio system are also possible.

Tata's strong 5-star safety legacy will continue. It will be equipped with 6 airbags standard, ESC, 360-degree camera, ISOFIX and advanced ADAS system. Being an EV, special attention will be paid to battery safety and structural safety.

Battery, Motor and Range

Safari EV can also get 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options like Harrier EV. RWD and dual-motor AWD configurations will be available. The estimated range is 500-600 KM (MIDC), while in real-world it is likely to be 400-450 KM. Powerful motors will provide good performance and towing capability.

EMI Calculator Tips: Save interest up to ₹ 1.5 lakh while buying a new car

EMI Calculator Tips: Save interest up to ₹ 1.5 lakh while buying a new car

Everyone dreams of buying a new car or bike, but often people get trapped in the attractive finance offers available at showrooms. Instead of relying on the math told by the dealer, if you just spend 5 minutes using the EMI calculator on your mobile before going to the showroom, you can save thousands of rupees.

This small online tool helps you strike a perfect balance between loan tenure, interest rate and downpayment, thereby reducing the extra interest to the bank to less than half. Avoid being out of pocket by being a smart buyer and decide your monthly installment as per your budget. Come, let us know how this can happen?

Loan Mathematics: How to avoid dealer's trap

When you go to a car showroom, the sales executive there offers you the lowest down payment and long term loan (like 7 or 8 years). This deal looks very attractive because it reduces your monthly installment (EMI) a lot. But this is where common people make mistakes. The longer the loan tenure, the more interest you will pay to the bank.

Online EMI calculator takes you out of this trap. Before going to the showroom, compare the interest rates of different banks and enter the loan amount in the calculator to see how much money is actually going to go out of your pocket in the form of interest.

'Perfect balance' of down payment and interest rate

The most basic mantra to save your hard-earned money is – higher down payment and shorter loan tenure. While using the EMI calculator, follow the three steps given below-

Increase down payment: If you pay 30% to 40% of the total price of the vehicle as downpayment in advance, the loan amount (principal amount) gets reduced. Less loan amount directly means less interest.

Keep the duration short: Always try to ensure that the car loan is not for more than 3 to 5 years and the bike loan is not for more than 2 to 3 years. Adjust the tenure in the calculator to see which EMI suits your monthly income.

Comparison of interest rates: Put the interest rates (ROI) of different banks into the calculator and check how much a difference of 0.5% or 1% affects your total payment.

Understand with a small example

Suppose you are buying a car worth Rs 10 lakh and the bank is offering an interest rate of 9%. Let's see how much difference two different decisions make using an EMI calculator:

parameters without planning smart planning
down payment ₹1 lakh (10%) ₹3 lakh (30%)
loan amount ₹9 lakh ₹7 lakh
loan tenure 7 years (84 months) 5 years (60 months)
Monthly EMI ₹14,510 ₹14,530
total interest ₹3,18,837 ₹1,71,777

The truth about big savings: Look at the table given above carefully. In both the options, your monthly out-of-pocket installment (EMI) is almost equal (around ₹ 14,500). But by increasing the downpayment by just ₹2 lakh and reducing the loan tenure by 2 years, you directly save interest of ₹1,47,060! This is smart planning done through online EMI calculator.

Also keep an eye on processing fees and hidden charges

After getting an accurate estimate from the EMI calculator, when you talk to the bank or dealer, ask them about foreclosure charges (fees for premature closure of the loan) and processing fees. Many times banks show low interest rates and charge huge amounts in the name of file charges or processing fees. When you know the base figure through a calculator, no one will be able to mislead you financially.

Our advice: In the digital era, it is wise not to take financial decisions hastily while sitting in a showroom cabin. Next time whenever you decide to buy a new bike or car, first of all open the 'EMI Calculator' of any trusted website or bank on your mobile, try different combinations and deal with the dealer with full confidence.

Inflation has increased to buy oil! Indians are shedding money on big vehicles like water.

Inflation has increased to buy oil! Indians are shedding money on big vehicles like water.

New Delhi. May 2026 has been a great year for the Indian automobile industry. On the basis of domestic demand, improvement in rural market, strong exports and increasing popularity of new vehicles, the country's big auto companies have registered tremendous sales. May figures also indicate that despite high interest rates and global uncertainties, the purchasing power of Indian consumers remains strong. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra and Toyota have performed strongly in May. The special thing is that this time not only the sales of passenger cars have increased, but good demand has also been seen in tractors, commercial vehicles and hybrid vehicles.

The country's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has recorded its highest ever monthly sales in May 2026. The company sold a total of 2,42,688 vehicles. Maruti sold 1,93,535 vehicles in the domestic market. Apart from this, 7,239 units were supplied to other OEM companies. The company also exported 41,914 vehicles. This figure shows that the demand for Maruti remains strong in both domestic and international markets.

Great jump in Hyundai sales too

Hyundai Motor India also performed strongly in May. The company's domestic sales increased by 9.1 percent to 47,837 units. The company sent 13,300 vehicles to the export market. In this way, total monthly sales were 61,137 units, which is 4.1 percent more than last year. According to the company's MD and CEO Tarun Garg, domestic sales have increased by 13 percent to 99,739 units in the first two months of financial year 2027 i.e. April and May.

Both Mahindra's SUV and tractor are popular

The month of May was very strong for Mahindra & Mahindra. The company's total auto sales increased by 20 percent to 99,636 units. Mahindra sold 58,021 utility vehicles in the domestic market, which is 11 percent more on annual basis. Globally, utility vehicle sales stood at 59,573 units. In the commercial vehicle segment also, the company sold 24,079 vehicles with a growth of 19 percent. However, the company has also mentioned supply chain challenges due to lack of manpower at some suppliers.

Strong growth of 23% in tractor business

Mahindra's farm equipment business was also successful in performing well. The company sold 47,845 tractors in the domestic market, which is 23 percent more than last year. Total tractor sales stood at 49,695 units. The company says that good harvesting of Rabi crop and better income of farmers has strengthened tractor demand.

Truck and bus business also back on track

Mahindra's Trucks and Buses division sold 3,129 vehicles in May. This is 18 percent more than last year. However, the company believes that high diesel prices and rising costs may put pressure on the profits of fleet operators in the near future.

Toyota made a new hybrid record

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold a total of 33,128 vehicles in May. This is 7 percent more than last year. Of these, 30,574 vehicles were sold in the domestic market while 2,554 units were exported. May was also special for Toyota because the company crossed the mark of 3 lakh units of sales of its strong hybrid electric vehicles in India. The company says that this achievement reflects the increasing acceptance of hybrid technology in India and the growing trend towards clean mobility.

Reasons behind the surge in sales?

  1. There are many strong reasons behind the record sales of the auto sector in May 2026. The biggest reason is the continued strong domestic demand in the country. Despite high interest rates and global uncertainties, the purchasing power of Indian consumers remains strong. This is the reason why sales in the passenger vehicle segment are continuously creating new records.
  2. Improvement in the rural economy has also given great support to auto companies. Due to timely completion of harvesting of Rabi crop, improvement in farmers' income and favorable business conditions, there has been a sharp jump in the demand for agricultural equipment and tractors.
  3. Now the acceptance of clean mobility and new technologies is also increasing rapidly among Indian customers. Toyota crossing the sales mark of 3 lakh units of its strong hybrid electric vehicles in India is a sign of this change.
  4. The dominance of SUV and utility vehicle segments is also continuously increasing. Customer preferences are shifting from small cars to larger and feature-rich vehicles.
  5. Apart from this, increasing expenditure on roads, highways and other infrastructure projects across the country has kept the demand for commercial vehicles strong. Truck and bus companies have also benefited from the increase in freight and logistics activities.

Car headlight brightness tips: Increase brightness in these ways.

It is very important to have a clear view of the road while driving at night. Many times accidents occur due to old or blurry headlights. Increasing the headlight brightness of your car not only improves your visibility but also makes driving at night more comfortable and safe. But while increasing the brightness, it is important to follow the legal rules so that the drivers of the vehicles coming in front do not face any problem.

In this article, we are sharing some practical and effective tips by which you can safely increase the brightness of your car's headlights. These tips are based on regular maintenance, upgrades and proper use. Overall, better headlights not only save your life but also make night driving enjoyable. Let us know how these can be kept better?

clean headlights regularly

Dust, sludge and oxidation accumulated on headlights can reduce illumination by 30-40%. Clean the headlights with mild soap and microfiber cloth every 15 days. Use a headlight restoration kit for deep fogging. This increases the light immediately.

Upgrade headlight bulbs

Replace old halogen bulbs with brighter LED or HID bulbs. LED bulbs produce more lumens and consume less power. While purchasing, choose only DOT or ECE certified bulbs. Lights with 6000K color temperature provide good visibility.

Get headlight alignment checked

Due to wrong alignment the light does not fall on the road. Get headlight alignment done at service center. With proper alignment the light goes in the right direction and brightness is felt.

Repair wiring and electrical systems

Brightness decreases due to loose wiring or weak battery. Get the battery and alternator checked. By installing high quality relay and wiring kit the light remains stable.

Install additional fog lamps or accessory lights

LED fog lights or driving lights can be installed while remaining within the legal limits. These give more light in less beam. Always keep switch control.

Check reflectors and lenses

Replace old reflectors with new ones. Lenses become clear by polishing.

By adopting these tips, you can increase the headlight brightness of your car to a great extent. Always remember that too bright lights can become a danger to others, so maintain balance. With regular maintenance you can enjoy safe night driving.

Mitsubishi Pajero will make a comeback soon.

Mitsubishi Motors has officially announced the return of its iconic SUV Mitsubishi Pajero. After production stops in 2021, this legendary name is going to hit the global market again in 2026. Pajero's comeback will not be limited to just one model, rather the company is bringing an entire SUV family, which will have a great combination of off-road capability, modern technology and premium features.

This news is quite interesting for SUV lovers, because Pajero's name has always been associated with Dakar Rally victories (12 times winner) and sales of more than 32 lakh units. The new generation will be built on a ladder-frame chassis, which will make it a direct competitor to giants like Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol. This strategy of Mitsubishi is going to give the brand a strong comeback in the global SUV segment.

Debut and launch timeline

The global debut of the new Mitsubishi Pajero is going to happen in the third quarter (Q3) of 2026, i.e. it can be introduced around August-September. According to Australian dealer sources, pre-orders can start from September and deliveries will start from December 2026. In some markets, delivery may be pushed to early 2027. The model is expected to be available in Japan by December 2026.

Design and platform

The new Pajero is being developed on body-on-frame (ladder-frame) architecture, which will be inspired by the Mitsubishi Triton (L200) pickup. It will have a live rear axle and a strong 4×4 system, which will make it extremely capable for bad roads and off-roading. The design is expected to have a boxy, upright silhouette and high ground clearance, reminiscent of the classic Pajero.

Powertrain Options

The company can offer hybrid variants along with diesel engines. There is a possibility of production in Thailand, from where global export will take place. Powertrain details have not been officially released yet, but the focus will be on balancing both off-road performance and on-road comfort.

Will it come in Indian market also?

Mitsubishi has already offered models like Outlander and Pajero Sport in the Indian market. Speculations about the India entry of the new Pajero are rife, especially when the company is preparing to make a comeback with new models like the Destinator. If launched, it will compete with models like Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and MG Hector Plus.
