Nissan Tekton vs Hyundai Creta: Which SUV is best to buy in a budget of less than ₹ 15 lakh?

Nissan Tekton vs Hyundai Creta: Which SUV is best to buy in a budget of less than ₹ 15 lakh?

There is tough competition in the mid-size segment of the Indian SUV market. Nissan has recently launched a direct challenge to Hyundai Creta by launching Tecton. Prices for the Tecton start at ₹10.49 lakh and go up to ₹18.59 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Creta is available from ₹10.91 lakh to ₹20.11 lakh. The Tecton is a badge-engineered version of the Renault Duster, which comes with a petrol-only turbo engine and has achieved a 5-star BNCAP safety rating.

On the other hand, Creta is known for its reliability, diesel engine option and large feature list. Tecton is offering a new option with bold design, large boot space (700 litres) and premium interiors, while Creta offers balanced performance and network support. Let us know which is better to buy in terms of price, design, interior, features, safety, engine and mileage?

Design and interior

The design of Tecton is inspired by Nissan Patrol. Large grille, vertical LED DRLs, slim headlamps and connected taillights. It is slightly longer (4349mm) and wider (1815mm) than the Creta, giving better road presence with a wheelbase of 2657mm and ground clearance of 212mm. 18-inch wheels and panoramic sunroof give a premium look.

Tecton looks premium in the interior. There is a tri-tone cabin, 48-colour ambient lighting, ventilated seats and soft-touch materials. The Creta's interior is also modern with dual 10.25-inch displays and Bose sound, but the Tecton's sportier feel and larger boot makes it practical. The cabin of Creta is refined and family-friendly.

Features and safety

Both have features like panoramic sunroof, 360° camera, ventilated seats and wireless charging. Tecton offers Google built-in, 10.1-inch touchscreen, powered tailgate and level-2 ADAS (Adaptive Cruise, Lane Keep etc.) in the top variant. Creta has BlueLink connected car tech, Bose audio and more customization in some variants. The Tecton's ADAS suite is robust, while the Creta's is convenient in daily use.

Tecton's 5-star BNCAP rating (Adult 30.49/32, Child 45/49) is a big plus. 6 airbags are standard in both. Tecton has ESC, hill descent and advanced ADAS. The Creta also has a strong safety suite (ESC, hill start), but the old Global NCAP rating has been 3-stars. Tecton is ahead here.

Engine and Mileage

Tecton offers only turbo petrol engine. It can be purchased in MT/DCT option with 1.0 liter turbo petrol (100 PS, 166 Nm, 19.4 kmpl) and 1.3 liter turbo petrol (163 PS, 280 Nm, 17.8-18.5 kmpl) engines.

At the same time, Creta has NA petrol (115 PS), turbo petrol (160 PS) and diesel (116 PS, 21.8 kmpl) options. Diesel is better for mileage and long-drives, while Tecton's 1.3 liter turbo petrol gives more torque.

Who should buy it: Tecton is a new challenger with bold styling, superior safety, huge space and aggressive pricing. This is especially best for petrol lovers. Creta is strong in balanced engine options, service network and refinement. Tecton can provide value in the budget of ₹ 12-16 lakh, while diesel lovers should choose Creta.

Brezza has always been known for its reliability, low maintenance and family-friendly space. The new facelift is set to attract young buyers by adding modern look, advanced technology and better performance to it. Launch is expected in July 2026. This update will take Brezza further into the sub-4 meter SUV segment. Let's take a look at its details from booking details to engine.

Booking details and estimated price

Booking has already started. Customers can book through Maruti dealership or official website/app by paying a token amount. Confirm the exact token amount with the dealer. Currently the ex-showroom price of Brezza is between ₹ 8.26 lakh to ₹ 13 lakh. There may be a slight increase in price in the facelift model with new features and possible turbo engine. Estimated at ₹8.5 lakh to ₹14-15 lakh (ex-showroom). CNG variants will also be available.

Design and interior

The facelift will bring small but attractive changes. New front grille, revised bumper, updated LED headlamps and DRLs, new 4-spoke alloy wheels and connected LED tail lamps can be seen at the rear. The overall look will be sharper and modern, which will increase road presence.

The cabin will get a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system (wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay), updated dashboard, new upholstery, ventilated front seats and possibly a digital instrument cluster. Space and practicality will remain the same as before. It currently gets 328 liters of boot space.

Features and safety

The company is going to present it with features like 10 inch touchscreen, wireless charging, cruise control, sunroof, 360° camera, heads-up display, rear AC vents, powered driver seat and ambient lighting. These updates will make Brezza the most feature-rich in the segment.

For safety, it already has 6 airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, ISOFIX and 4-star global NCAP rating. Level-2 ADAS, front parking sensors and better safety features can be added to the facelift. Suzuki TECT platform will further strengthen safety.

The main 1.5 liter K-Series petrol engine (about 103 PS power, 137 Nm torque) will continue, which returns 19-20 kmpl mileage with mild hybrid. CNG option will also be available (up to 25 km/kg). The big update will be the new 1.0 liter turbo-petrol engine (about 100 PS, 148 Nm), which can be sourced from the Fronx. This will give better performance and less tax benefits. There will be both manual and automatic transmission options.

Overall, the Brezza facelift brings a great combination of style, technology and value for money. Launch is likely on July 23, 2026. If you are looking for a compact SUV then this can prove to be a great option. For more details we will have to wait for the launch.

How much ethanol is being available in which country? Know (AI Image)

Bioethanol blending is increasing rapidly around the world to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and to protect the environment. Mixing bioethanol with petrol not only reduces carbon emissions, but also increases the income of farmers and strengthens energy security. Globally, different countries are setting targets for ethanol blending as per their needs, resources and policies. India is doing much better in this field. Currently E20 (20% ethanol mixture) is implemented here and the target of E30 by 2030 has been set.

Brazil is the world leader in this matter, where along with E30, E100 (pure ethanol) is also widely used. America, European Union and many countries of Asia are also taking important steps in this direction. According to recent data, many developing countries are also working towards reaching the level of E10 or above.

India's progress

As a result of sustained efforts by the Government of India, E20 blending has already been implemented. Due to this, dependence on petrol imports has reduced and farmers are getting better prices. The target of reaching E30 by 2030 is a big step towards making the country energy self-reliant. This policy of India is becoming an example at the global level.

Brazil: No. 1 in the world

Brazil is at the forefront in bioethanol blending. Here the use of E100 (pure ethanol) along with E30 is also common. The reason for Brazil's success is its huge sugarcane production capacity and long-standing strong policy. The country has brought a revolution in the energy sector by promoting indigenous fuel in place of fossil fuel.

Situation in America and Europe

In America, blending is done up to E10 and E15 levels. Taking advantage of their agricultural productivity, these countries are promoting ethanol production. E10 is available in 19 member countries of the European Union (EU). E10 has also been implemented in Britain. Europe is achieving blending targets by strictly enforcing environmental standards.

Asia and other regions

Japan has set a target of E10 by 2030 and E20 by 2040. E10 is already implemented in Nepal. In Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam also policies are being made at E10 level or above. Indonesia allows E3 in gasoline imports.

In Latin America, Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina and Paraguay are blending at different levels (E7.8 to E30). African countries such as Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi also have E10 or E20 targets. In Canada, blending ranges from E5 to E12 depending on the provinces.

Long line at the showroom for this small SUV…price is only ₹ 5,69,990

India's sub-compact SUV (3.8-4 meter) segment has performed well in June 2026. The major five vehicles of the segment together recorded strong sales, in which Tata Punch captured the market with more than double the sales. Overall, this segment witnessed good growth on an annual basis.

Tata Motors' two models Punch and Nexon have jointly achieved more than 40% market share. Vehicles from Maruti, Hyundai and Mahindra also performed solidly. This growth has also been largely dependent on the increasing popularity of electric variants, new features and aggressive pricing. This time there has been a significant increase compared to June 2025. Let's take a look at the model-wise sales report of the segment.

Tata Punch

Punch achieved the top position in the segment by selling 21,006 units in June 2026. Last year in June 2025, its sales were 10,446 units, i.e. an excellent annual growth of 101.09% was recorded. With 19.07% market share, Punch went far ahead of its nearest competitor and dominated the market. Strong demand and attractive features of the EV variant played an important role in this success. Punch has now become the most favorite vehicle in this segment. The company sells it at a starting ex-showroom price of only ₹ 5,69,990.

It is a stylish micro-SUV with a bold and attractive design, sculpted body panels, LED headlamps, connected taillights and strong SUV looks with 193 mm ground clearance. The interiors are replete with premium two-tone cabin, 10.25 inch HD touchscreen, 7 inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, sunroof and comfortable seating.

Features include 360° camera, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, auto AC and premium audio. Safety has 5-star global NCAP rating, 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold and strong structure. Engine options available are 1.2 liter NA petrol (88 PS), new turbo petrol (120 PS) and CNG. Mileage is available up to 18-20 kmpl in petrol and 26-27 km/kg in CNG.

Tata Nexon

Nexon achieved second position by selling 18,335 units in June 2026. A strong growth of 58.03% was recorded as compared to 11,602 units in June 2025. Nexon EV is also performing well in the segment with 16.64% market share. Customer confidence has increased due to safety features, range and performance. Both Tata vehicles together have met more than half the demand of the segment.

Maruti Fronx

The franchise sold 13,135 units in June 2026, which is 33.83% more than 9,815 units last year. Fronx maintained the third position with 11.92% market share. Maruti's reliability, fuel efficiency and service network gave it a strong position. Although it saw slightly slower growth than Tata, Fronx still remains popular among young buyers.

Hyundai Venue

Venue has sold 10,776 units in June 2026, which shows an impressive growth of 57.13% as compared to 6,858 units in June 2025. Venue stood at fourth position with 9.78% market share. The demand for Venue is continuously increasing due to its premium feel, features and stylish design. Hyundai has strengthened its hold in this segment.

Mahindra XUV3XO

XUV 3XO has sold 10,063 units in June 2026. Compared to 7,089 units last year, 41.95% annual growth was recorded. It is in fifth place with 9.13% market share. Mahindra's aggressive pricing and EV variants received a good response. XUV3XO is proving to be a strong contender in the segment and the company is expecting better performance in the future.

The beauty of Maruti Ertiga! Becomes country's best selling MPV, Innova and Carnival left behind

The beauty of Maruti Ertiga! Becomes country's best selling MPV, Innova and Carnival left behind

Maruti Suzuki continued to have a strong hold in the MPV and MUV segments of India in June 2026. Ertiga maintained its dominance in overall sales, while some competing models saw a decline. Maruti's Ertiga and XL6 registered positive growth, while Toyota's Innova declined. Kia Carens Clavis sales were also down compared to last year, but Toyota Rumion surprised with an impressive 67.9% YoY growth.

This segment reflects the demand for vehicles that meet the needs of families, where comfort, space and fuel efficiency are in high demand. According to market experts, the demand for models with hybrid technology and better features is increasing, which will make this segment more competitive in the coming months. Let's take a look at the model wise sales report of the 7-seater MPV segment.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Maruti Ertiga was the best selling MPV in June 2026, registering sales of 16,111 units. It appeared to be performing strongly with an annual growth of 13.9%. Ertiga is known for its spacious cabin, 7-seater capacity, low maintenance costs and good mileage. This remains the most preferred option among family users. Recent updates have added better infotainment system and safety features, which proved helpful in increasing its popularity. The Ertiga proved that the right mix of budget and practicality still works best in the Indian market.

Toyota Innova

Toyota Innova remained at the second position in June 2026, but its sales were limited to 7,332 units and a decline of 16.7% was recorded on an annual basis. Yet the Innova's reliability, strong engine and premium feel make it a favorite for taxis and families alike. Despite the decline, Toyota's service network and resale value will help the Innova remain in the top segment for a long time.

Kia Carens Clavis

Carens Clavis sold 4,847 units in June 2026, but saw a huge decline of 38.8% year-on-year. Despite attractive design, modern features and good driving dynamics, it lagged behind last year. The Carens Clavis was positioned as a premium family MPV, but it is being challenged by increased competition and few value-for-money options. Kia will now have to make a comeback through new updates and better pricing.

Maruti Suzuki XL6

Maruti XL6 took the fourth position with sales of 2,711 units and registered an impressive 34.8% YoY growth. Based on Ertiga, this 6-seater MPV is attracting family and status conscious buyers with premium looks, captain seats and better features. This model offers a great combination of comfort and style.

Toyota Rumion

Toyota Rumion took the fifth position by selling 2,376 units in June 2026 and registered a most impressive 67.9% year-on-year growth. Despite being a rebadged version of Ertiga, it is becoming increasingly popular due to Toyota's brand value and reliability. The Rumion is a good option for buyers who want the reliability of Toyota.

Apart from the top-5 cars of the segment mentioned above, last month 1,871 units of Renault Triber, 349 units of Maruti Suzuki Invicto, 140 units of Toyota Vellfire and only 30 units of Kia Carnival were sold. Total sales stood at 35,767 units, which shows a decline of 1.2 percent year-on-year.

Zoom

Mahindra has increased the prices of vehicles.

Mahindra has increased the prices of its popular SUV range by an average of 2.7 percent. This change has become effective from July 10, 2026. The company has attributed this to the increase in commodity costs. Models like Thar, Scorpio Classic, XUV 3XO, XUV 7XO have become expensive, while the prices of Scorpio N have not changed. In the EV segment, only the price of XEV 9S has increased.

This is the second biggest price hike of the year after 2.5% increase in April. Mahindra itself bore a large part of the increased costs in the last few months, but has now decided to pass on some of the burden to customers. Due to this, buyers will have to take a quick decision before purchasing a new vehicle. Bolero has seen the highest increase of ₹ 49,000 on the base variant. The starting price of XEV 9S has increased by ₹ 70,000.

Why did prices increase?

Mahindra clarified that rising commodity prices are the main reason. This has become a common problem in the auto industry. The company said that the amount of increase will vary on different models. An average increase of 2.7% has been implemented in the SUV portfolio and 2% in commercial vehicles. Know the affected models and new prices-

  • XUV 3XO: Rs 7.79 – 15.04 lakh (earlier Rs 7.54 – 14.89)
  • Bolero: 8.49 – 9.99 lakh (earlier 8 – 9.91)
  • Bolero Neo: Rs 8.99 – 12.49 lakh (earlier Rs 8.85 – 12)
  • Thar (3-door): Rs 10.32 – 18 lakh (earlier Rs 10 – 17.63)
  • Thar Roxx: Rs 12.52 – 23.53 lakh (earlier Rs 12.40 – 22.82)
  • Scorpio Classic: Rs 13.37 – 17.40 lakh (earlier Rs 13 – 17)
  • Scorpio N: Rs 13.49 – 24.95 lakh (no change)
  • XUV 7XO: Rs 13.99 – 25.79 lakh (earlier Rs 13.66 – 24.92)
  • XEV 9S: Rs 20.65 – 29.95 lakh (earlier Rs 19.95 – 29.45)

There has also been no increase in the prices of XUV 3XO EV, BE 6 and XEV 9e.

advice for customers

For customers who have booked or taken delivery before July 10, the old prices will be applicable. New buyers may have to face additional expenses. Despite Mahindra's strong sales momentum (Scorpio, Thar, XUV series), this increase is a necessary step to save margins. If you want to buy a Mahindra vehicle, then check the updated price from the dealership before making the deal.

Now the turn of diesel cars! Government made plan for 15% isobutanol blending

Now the turn of diesel cars! Government made plan for 15% isobutanol blending

Last Updated:

Will your diesel car or truck get fuel mixed with 15% isobutanol in the future? The central government is working rapidly in this direction. Initial trials are about to start and it is claimed that this will reduce oil imports, increase farmers' income and reduce pollution. But will it affect mileage and engine? Know the complete plan of the government and all the major updates related to it.

news quickly

Zoom

The government is planning to add 15% isobutanol to diesel.

After the success of blending E20 ethanol in petrol, the Indian government is now preparing to mix isobutanol in diesel. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had recently said that the government is working towards blending up to 15 percent isobutanol in diesel. This step is part of reducing the country's dependence on crude oil imports, strengthening energy security and promoting clean fuels.

Ethanol cannot be blended directly into diesel, hence isobutanol is being prepared from ethanol. Isobutanol is a better biofuel, which can mix better with diesel. Positive results have been found in pilot projects. Many companies are going to start trials of 2 percent blend. This initiative can have a bigger impact than E20 considering the consumption of diesel, because the consumption of diesel in India is almost double that of petrol. With this, farmers are expected to get additional income, lower import bill and reduction in pollution.

development so far

Attempts at ethanol-diesel blending were unsuccessful because ethanol does not mix well with diesel and creates problems for the engine. After this the government focused on isobutanol. ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) started the study of 10 percent blending in 2025. Pilot trials of 2 percent isobutanol-diesel blend with organizations like HPCL, BPCL, Praj Industries and Tata Motors are scheduled to begin from Q2 FY2027. Many generator sets have been successfully run on 100 percent ethanol and isobutanol. This can make India the first big step in the diesel biofuel program.

What did Gadkari say?

Nitin Gadkari has clarified that ethanol cannot be blended directly into diesel, hence we are preparing isobutanol from ethanol. Isobutanol can become an alternative to diesel. We are moving towards 15 percent isobutanol blending. Referring to the good results of the pilot demonstration, he said that the engines can run on these fuels. This step is important for energy self-reliance, reducing imports and clean transportation. Gadkari had also discussed this at the launch of Maruti Suzuki WagonR flex-fuel.

Blend Percentage and Rollout

The government will initially conduct trials of 2 percent blend, which can later increase to 15 percent. Compulsory blending may start from 2027. Companies like Praj Industries are increasing production capacity.

Advantages:

Higher energy density: Better than ethanol, less impact on mileage.
Low Corrosive: Safe for engines, pipelines and storage.
Eco-Friendly: Low emissions, clean fuel.

Potential disadvantages:

  • There may be slight mileage reduction in some vehicles in the initial phase.
  • A lot of money will be invested in production scale-up and infrastructure.

Must buy these 5 add-ons with car insurance! Lakhs of rupees will be saved in claims

Must buy these 5 add-ons with car insurance! Lakhs of rupees will be saved in claims

Your car is not just a vehicle, but your hard-earned money and daily need. Therefore, when you get car insurance, just taking the basic policy is not enough. Road uncertainties, expensive parts, floods, accidents or breakdowns can occur at any time. In such a situation, by choosing the right add-ons while taking car insurance, you can get mental peace along with security of your money.

These add-ons save you from depreciation deductions, extra expenses and emergencies at the time of claim. These covers prove to be very useful especially for users with new cars or those who drive a lot. A little extra premium is charged, but lakhs of rupees are saved in case of claim. Choose these add-ons keeping in mind your driving habits, age of the car and the region. With this, your car will be completely safe and you will be able to drive without any worries. Let us know about 5 such important add-ons.

1. Zero Depreciation Cover

This is the most popular and essential add-on. In a normal claim, the insurance company deducts depreciation based on the age of the parts, due to which the claim amount reduces significantly. With zero depreciation cover, you get the full value and there is no deduction. This is especially beneficial for cars less than 5 years old.

The company bears the entire cost of repairing bumpers, panels or other expensive parts in case of accident or damage. This keeps your financial loss minimal. The premium seems a little high but it proves to be an investment in the long run. Every car owner should give this priority.

2. Roadside Assistance

Emergencies like breakdown, puncture, battery down or running out of fuel can occur at any time on the road. This add-on provides 24×7 support which includes towing, tire change, jump start, fuel delivery and lockout service. This is a life saver especially for those traveling on highways or remote areas. Many companies offer a limited number of free services. Be sure to keep this information in mind while purchasing an add-on.

3. Engine Protection Cover

The engine is the most expensive and important part of the car. Problems like water logging, oil leakage or hydrostatic lock are not covered by the normal policy. This add-on covers the cost of repair or replacement of the engine, gearbox and related parts. Mandatory for those driving in flooded areas or on bad roads. The claim process is simple and protects lakhs of rupees. Engine damage is often unpredictable, so this cover provides a strong shield of protection.

4. Return to Invoice Cover

In case of total loss of the car, this add-on refunds the original invoice value (on-road price). This also includes registration, insurance and other charges. You get the full amount instead of less payment based on depreciation or market value. Very useful for those buying a new car. This makes it easier to buy a new car. It provides financial security in case the entire vehicle is damaged in an accident.

5. Consumables Cover

Accident repairs involve the cost of engine oil, grease, bolts, nuts, washers and other consumable items, which are not covered under a normal policy. This add-on takes care of all this. Avoids extra bills at the time of claim. Especially very beneficial in major accidents or parts replacement. It makes the claim process complete by covering small but essential expenses. It makes sense to include this in every insurance policy.

6 Airbags, 360° Camera and ADAS! Mini Scorpio N will enter the market soon

6 Airbags, 360° Camera and ADAS! Mini Scorpio N will enter the market soon

Mahindra is strongly preparing its new generation SUV lineup. Vision S, one of the concept models introduced under the company's Global Vision 2027, has now reached the production stage. Recently, its test mule has been spotted in heavy disguise, in which production-spec LED DRLs are clearly visible for the first time. Inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights are seen matching the projector headlamps, which are very similar to the Vision S concept unveiled in August 2025. This sub-4 meter compact SUV will be based on NU_IQ platform, which will support both ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains.

Mahindra is positioning it for both lifestyle and off-road. Features like the boxy and upright stance, thick wheel arches and the rear-mounted spare wheel make it a smaller, more city-friendly version of the Scorpio-N. Experts predict that this SUV, to be launched in 2027, will compete directly with vehicles like Tata Sierra.
