Tata Motors launched the new 2026 Tata Punch, which includes twin-cylinder CNG technology, AMT gearbox, new 1.2-litre i-Turbo engine and modern design. Tata Punch is counted among the bestselling cars of India. Even at present, this car is very popular and is continuously generating good sales figures for the company.

New Delhi. Tata Motors has launched the updated 2026 Tata Punch in India, in which many major changes have been made in design, features and powertrain. Along with this, the company has also introduced a new milestone for the first time in the segment. The price of the new Punch starts at Rs 5.59 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. It has become the first SUV in the country to be provided with AMT gearbox with twin-cylinder CNG technology, that is, it is the first CNG car that comes with an automatic gearbox. New turbo engine and CNG AMT for the first time in the segment The biggest change in this car is the new 1.2-litre i-Turbo engine, which produces 120 bhp and 170 Nm torque. This is the most powerful punch variant till date. A 6-speed manual gearbox is available with this engine and the company claims that it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 11.1 seconds.

Power and Performance
The existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 88 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, will also be available in both manual and AMT options. At the same time, the biggest update so far has been seen in the 1.2-litre i-CNG variant. Tata's innovative twin-cylinder CNG technology, which is already known to increase boot space, now comes with a 5-speed AMT. With this, Punch has become India's first CNG SUV which has an automatic option. This combination makes driving easy. The 1.2-litre petrol engine with CNG produces 73 bhp and 103 Nm of peak torque.

exterior design
Inspired by the Punch EV, the 2026 Punch sports a new front look with vertically stacked LED headlamps and a wide 3D effect grille topped by a full-width gloss-black DRL bar. The SUV gets a wider and more powerful look with deeper and more sculpted bumpers, silver accents and functional air curtains. New dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out ORVMs and six new body colors—Bengal Rouge, Caramel and Scientific—further enhance its road presence. At the rear, the connected LED tail-lamps housed in a black panel and the new bumper keep the Punch in line with Tata's latest design trends.

interior design
The layout of the Punch in the interior remains the same, but there has been a major upgrade in terms of materials and features. The biggest change is Tata's new two-spoke steering wheel with the brand's illuminated logo—previously seen on Tata's EV range. The center console now has a touch-enabled Clima Touch panel, making its look even more modern and clean.

Tesla Offers Discount on Model Y: Tesla did not get the response as expected in India, inventory increased due to order cancellation. Around 100 Model Y vehicles are waiting for the buyers, due to the continuously increasing inventory, the company has now offered a discount of Rs 2 lakh for the first time. Tesla is now facing tough competition in many markets of the world.

New Delhi. Tesla made a lot of headlines by entering the Indian market last year. The company had big expectations from the Indian market. But, the truth is that Tesla did not get the response in India that the company wanted. The company is also facing the pain of order cancellation. There are also a large number of customers who booked a car and then canceled the order. Due to this the inventory of Tesla India has increased. According to people associated with the matter, due to weak demand, even four months after Elon Musk's company shipped a batch of 300 Model Y sport utility vehicles, about 100 vehicles are still waiting for buyers. To clear the stock of these vehicles, Tesla is giving a discount of up to Rs 2 lakh (about $ 2,200) on some variants. So if you were planning to buy a Tesla car, then this is the opportunity to bring home a new Tesla, that too with a discount of Rs 2 lakh.

Challenge for Tesla
This signals an early challenge for Tesla, which is trying to make a place in the world's third-largest passenger vehicle market with its cheaper model. The company, which debuted in India in July, was hoping that its brand name alone would be enough to increase sales, while the local tax on imported cars is up to 110%. Tesla's slow start in India comes at a time when the company is facing a decline in demand worldwide. Tesla's global sales have declined for the second consecutive year in 2025, due to which the company has lagged behind China's BYD company.

Increasing competition in America, Europe and China
Tesla's share has declined due to increasing competition in America, Europe and China and reduced subsidies in some markets. Even in India, car buyers have not yet fully adopted Tesla, due to its low presence and high prices. In November, the company has given the responsibility of local operations to Sharad Aggarwal, former head of Lamborghini India, so that luxury car buyers can be attracted.

Elon Musk's Tesla could not establish itself in the Indian auto market! things went wrong here

Elon Musk's Tesla could not establish itself in the Indian auto market! things went wrong here

New Delhi. Elon Musk's Tesla entered the Indian auto market last year i.e. in 2025. At one time, the possibility of setting up a local manufacturing plant was also raised. However, Tesla's introduction in the Indian market in less than a year has made it clear that it is very difficult to sell imported premium cars here.

According to a Bloomberg report, Tesla is facing difficulty in selling about one-third of the initial consignment imported into India last year. Even after four months of dispatching about 300 units of Model Y, about 100 vehicles are still lying unsold. To reduce the stock of these vehicles, the company is giving a discount of up to Rs 2 lakh on select Model Y variants. However, Tesla has not made any official announcement regarding this.

Model Y spoiled the game

Tesla's strategy in India currently rests on only one car, Model Y. Its starting price in India is around Rs 60 lakh, which makes it one of the most expensive electric vehicles in its segment. According to Bloomberg, around 600 bookings were received for Model Y in India, but a large number of them have not yet converted into deliveries. Official registration data shows that in the entire year 2025, Tesla has registered only 227 vehicles in India.

Custom duty increased prices

Tesla's biggest challenge is price. In India, custom duty on CBU units can be up to 110%, which more than doubles the price of vehicles. Tesla thought that its brand appeal would offset these costs, but so far this strategy has not proven effective. Indian EV buyers, even in the premium segment, are extremely price and value conscious. This is also a big reason for Tesla not getting customers.

did not get the trust of customers

Apart from the price, Tesla's limited physical presence is also a problem. The visibility of the brand is low due to limited showrooms and lack of local manufacturing. The service network is also limited, due to which customers remain a little worried about maintenance and ownership. The company is trying, but it will take time to build trust.

performance against the market

The interesting thing is that Tesla's slowness is visible at a time when India's EV market is growing at a fast pace. Total EV retail sales are expected to grow 16% to 22.7 lakh units in 2025, while sales of electric passenger cars are expected to jump 77% to 1.76 lakh units. Companies like Tata Motors and JSW MG Motor are ahead in the market on the basis of affordable prices and better local offerings. At the same time, Tesla failed to establish its footing.

future plan

Tesla is trying to build a long-term ecosystem in India, which includes home charging, charging points in malls and hotels, and superchargers. Besides, the company will also have to win the trust of customers regarding the cost of ownership. In the future, if the custom duty is reduced or Tesla starts local production, then the company's position will be strengthened.

People are saving money due to annual pass
A person resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana told that he has to travel to Chandigarh often. Earlier, one trip used to cost around Rs 150, but now due to the annual pass, their expenses have come down to around Rs 30 per trip.

The hassle of recharging Fastag again and again is over.
The government said that with this annual pass, the toll expense has already been fixed. People do not have to worry about different toll amounts every month and the hassle of recharging Fastag again and again has also ended.

25 percent reduction in cash payment
According to the ministry, between November 15 and December 10, 2025, more than 15 lakh UPI transactions took place at the toll plaza, the total amount of which was Rs 19.44 crore. During this period, cash payment has decreased by 25 percent, due to which the crowd at toll plazas has reduced and the system has become more transparent.

Toll payment of 98 percent vehicles through Fastag
At present, 98 percent of the vehicles in the country are paying toll through Fastag only. Rest of the vehicles are also gradually connecting to this system. The government is now promoting digital payments by providing easy and cheap facilities to the people instead of fines. Apart from this, the ministry clarified that if a road is being converted from 2 lanes to 4, 6 or more lanes, then till the work is completed, the commuters will have to pay only 50 per cent of the old toll.

New Delhi. Skoda has confirmed that the production-ready version of the Vision 7S concept will be called Peak. It will basically be a 7-seater electric SUV, which will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLB and Peugeot e-5008 in the global market. Being a flagship offering, the new Skoda Peak will be the most expensive car from the Czech automaker, costing more than the Enyaq EV. This electric SUV will make its world debut in the summer of 2026, after which its official specifications and price will be announced.

Skoda Peak EV – What to Expect?
The Skoda Vision 7S concept, which was shown at the Bharat Mobility Show last year, may come to India in its production-ready avatar in 2027. Like the show car, the cabin of the production-ready Skoda Peak is likely to use sustainable materials such as leather-free upholstery.

Battery and range
The concept shown had an 89kWh battery pack, which claims to give a range of more than 600 km on a single charge as per WLTP. Skoda has also said that the Peak will have fast charging support up to 200kW. It can be offered in both RWD (rear-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) configurations.

'Small cars, big speed': Crowd gathered in showrooms for vehicles priced below Rs 5 lakh, the era of budget cars is back again

Last Updated:

There was a 92 percent jump in sales of small cars of companies like Maruti Suzuki in 2026, the trend of middle class has increased again due to GST 2.0 cut and affordable prices. In the last few years, the trend of SUV vehicles is gaining momentum in the Indian automobile market. Amidst all this, once again people are showing their interest in budget cars and turning to showrooms.

The year 2026 has started with a big good news for the automobile sector in India. While for the last few years, customers were inclined towards SUVs, now once again the popularity of small cars, the favorite of the 'middle class', has returned.

Generated image

Once again the noise of small and economical cars is being heard on Indian roads. According to the latest data, a huge jump of 92 percent has been seen in the sales of cars priced below Rs 5 lakh between December 2025 and early January 2026.

These figures have come as a lifesaver for big companies like Maruti Suzuki, which show that the Indian buyer is now again turning towards savings and mileage.

The main reason for the surge in sales of small cars was the cut in GST. The government had cut GST rates in September last year.

Generated image

Recently, the tax rates on budget segment cars have been rationalized by the government under 'GST 2.0'. Due to reduction in GST rates, the on-road price of these cars has come down significantly, making it easier for the middle class to buy a car.

Generated image

According to statistics, there has been a growth of more than 35% in the demand for budget cars in small cities and rural areas. Better infrastructure and improvement in farm income have also motivated people to buy their first car.

Generated image

Amid rising petrol prices, small cars' excellent mileage (up to 25 km/litre) and low servicing costs still remain the first choice of customers.

Generated image

The 92% growth in entry-level cars amid the growing trend of SUVs proves that “affordability” is still the biggest factor in the Indian auto market. Car companies believe that if this trend continues, the year 2026 could prove to be a record-breaking year for Indian automobile history.

This car beat Scorpio and Innova! India's best selling 7 seater in 2025

This car beat Scorpio and Innova! India's best selling 7 seater in 2025

Last Updated:

India's best-selling 7-seater in 2025 was Maruti Ertiga, which overtook Innova. Sales of Ertiga stood at 1,92,025 units, the main reasons being its affordable price and features. Ertiga is being liked a lot in India since its launch. After launch, it has often been at the top in its segment in terms of sales.

New Delhi. When it comes to India's favorite 7-seater, the first name that comes to mind is Innova. But the 7-seater we are talking about is the best-selling 7-seater of the year 2025. So can you guess which 7-seater it could be? Will it still be Innova? This was not the case in 2025. Last year, Innova's dominance not only faced a strong challenge but it also had to be defeated. Let us know which is this car that will compete with Innova.

India's bestselling 7 seater
India's best-selling 7-seater in 2025! It is quite easy to answer this. The best selling 7-seater in India is none other than Maruti Ertiga. Ertiga has consistently been the best selling 7-seater throughout the year with sales of 1,92,025 units. This figure is quite impressive, especially when at the second position, both Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N together have sold 1,76,988 units. So why is Ertiga the best selling 7-seater?

Why is Maruti Ertiga India's best-selling 7-seater?
The biggest reason for Ertiga's dominance in the 7-seater segment is its affordable price. On-road prices in Mumbai range between Rs 10.30 lakh to Rs 15.33 lakh, making it a great value for money option. One reason for its excellent sales is that Ertiga is also used as a fleet vehicle. Apart from this, Ertiga has many points which make it better than other options. Maruti's reliability, fuel efficiency and large cabin make it perfect for 7-seater buyers. Besides, it also has all the necessary features, which make it more practical and user friendly.

Lots of great features
It has a 7-inch touchscreen, cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation, tire pressure monitoring system and many other features. With Maruti's S-CNG technology, Ertiga gives excellent mileage, due to which its running cost also remains low. That is, Ertiga meets the needs of every Indian buyer – practicality, fuel efficiency, affordable price, comfort and low maintenance. For this reason, Ertiga becomes the first choice for most 7-seater buyers and fleets.
