news immediately

The company is giving a direct discount of Rs 3 lakh on Tesla's Model Y.

New Delhi. American electric vehicle company Tesla has made a big announcement to increase its reach in the Indian market. The company has said that there is an opportunity for Indian customers to buy Tesla cars on EMI. Apart from this, a discount of Rs 3 lakh will also be given on exchanging old petrol or diesel cars. After these two offers, it is believed that the sales of Tesla cars may increase in the country. Currently, these cars are very expensive, which makes them out of reach of common customers.

Tesla India said on Tuesday that several initiatives including monthly installment plan (EMI) are being launched to accelerate sales in India. Customers switching to electric vehicles are being given an incentive of up to Rs 3 lakh on exchange of petrol and diesel vehicles. Apart from this, customers will now be able to buy these cars on EMI, which will also be within the reach of common customers.

How much down payment-how much EMI
Tesla has said that customers can now buy Tesla Model Y at installments (EMI) starting from Rs 49,000 per month. For this only initial payment of Rs 6 lakh will have to be made. Tesla India started supplying this model in India in September 2025. According to data released by FADA, an organization of vehicle dealers, Tesla sold 225 units in India last year.

Tesla sales are still low
Overall, retail sales of electric passenger vehicles in the country last year stood at 1,76,817 units, which is 77 percent more than 99,875 units in the year 2024. By using Tesla Model Y, customers can save up to Rs 20,000 every month due to reduction in fuel and maintenance costs. This is what the company claims. Now it remains to be seen how much Tesla's share in total e-vehicle sales will increase after EMI and discounts.

What is the price of Model Y in India?
Tesla has launched three variants of Model Y in India. In this, the ex-showroom price of Y rear-wheel drive has been kept at around Rs 59.89 lakh, while the ex-showroom price of the long range rear-wheel drive variant of Model Y is around Rs 67.89 lakh. Its top model which comes with complete self-driving, its ex-showroom price can go up to Rs 73.89 lakh.

Low demand for City, Elevate and Amaze! Honda is not getting more customers, exports also decreased

Low demand for City, Elevate and Amaze! Honda is not getting more customers, exports also decreased

The beginning of the year 2026 was nothing special for Honda Cars India. The company has seen a decline in sales in January 2026 compared to last year. The company has registered total sales of 6,941 units in January 2026. In this, domestic sales were 6,193 units and export was 748 units.

Sales of 6,193 units in the domestic market are 15.45% less than 7,325 units in January 2025 last year. This year-on-year (YoY) decline could be mainly related to lower demand for Honda cars in the market, competition and possibly change in demand patterns for some models. However, a bit of good news is that there has been an improvement on a month-on-month (MoM) basis from 5,807 units in December 2025.

Exports also decreased

The situation in exports was more challenging. Only 748 units were shipped abroad in January 2026, which shows a huge decline of 84.98% from 4,979 units in January 2025. Due to this, total sales decreased by 43.59% from last year's 12,304 units. This sharp decline in exports may become a cause of concern for Honda. Honda Cars India mainly exports the City and Elevate models, which have been strong in the past, but looked affected this month.

What did the company say?

Company's Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Kunal Bahl said that the year has started with a strong environment. Honda Amaze is driving strong demand due to its value-for-money offering, while City and Elevate are making steady contributions. The company is confident of maintaining this positive momentum in the coming months.

Honda is giving discounts to customers

Honda also launched attractive offers in January 2026, which included savings (cash discount, exchange benefits, etc.) of up to ₹ 1.76 lakh on some models. These offers were applicable on Amaze, City (Petrol and Hybrid) and Elevate in select cities, which proved helpful in increasing demand.

Overall, there have been signs of slight recovery in the domestic market, but a large decline in exports affected the overall performance. Amidst the increasing demand for SUVs and EVs in the Indian auto sector, Honda is focusing on its sedan and compact SUV range. The company is expecting better performance in 2026 with new product updates and strong retail strategy. The company currently has its only SUV in the form of Honda Elevate.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, there is a strong growth of 47.9% from 18,659 units in December 2025, indicating a strong recovery after the year-end slowdown.

It holds a strong position in the mid-size SUV segment and is contributing significantly to Kia's domestic sales. The new Seltos includes modern design, premium features, advanced engine options and better technology like 30-inch dashboard display and ADAS.

Sonet has recently crossed the milestone of domestic sales of 5 lakh units, which shows the strength of the brand. Good News! Now CNG will become cheaper, Finance Minister removed excise duty on biogas

Good News! Now CNG will become cheaper, Finance Minister removed excise duty on biogas

Budget 2026: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in Parliament today, has announced a big relief for the common man. In the budget, it has been proposed to exclude the entire value of biogas from the calculation of central excise duty on CNG blended with biogas. With this, bio-mix CNG can become cheaper.

The Finance Minister clearly stated in his budget speech, “The entire value of biogas will be excluded while calculating the Central Excise Duty on Biogas Blended CNG.” Earlier, the price of biogas was also included in the calculation of this mixed fuel, which increased the tax burden. Now with this change the biogas component will be completely exempted from excise duty.

CNG will become cheaper!

This step of the government is related to the goals of promoting clean energy, environmental protection and energy security. This will directly benefit the owners of CNG dependent vehicles, especially auto-rickshaws, taxis, commercial trucks and cars.

Experts estimate that the price of CNG per kg may come down by a few rupees (about Rs 2-3), because the excise duty on normal CNG is around 14% or Rs 14-15 per kg. The higher the percentage of biogas in the biogas mix, the lower will be the tax.

benefits to farmers

This decision will prove to be a boon for the farmers also. With biogas plants, farmers will be able to earn additional income from their farm waste, stubble and other wastes. This will reduce the problem of stubble burning, reduce air pollution and strengthen the rural economy. Also, the country's dependence on oil imports will reduce because domestic biogas production will increase.

Good news for auto industry

This change will also have a positive impact on the automobile sector. Many companies are already launching biogas-compatible vehicles. Tax relief will increase the demand for these vehicles and the availability of bio-mix CNG at CNG stations may also increase rapidly.

The government says that this step will accelerate the green energy transition and make an important contribution towards the Sustainable Development Goals. For common consumers, this is one of the most practical reliefs of the budget, which will reduce fuel expenses in everyday life.

What is biogas and its importance

Biogas is made from agricultural residues, crop waste, animal dung, municipal waste and other organic wastes. By mixing it with normal CNG, low carbon eco-friendly fuel is prepared, which is called Bio-CNG or CBG (Compressed Biogas). This fuel is cleaner than traditional CNG and significantly reduces carbon emissions.

At the same time, the design of Toyota Hyrider is more modern and crossover-style. It has split headlamps, chrome accents, sleek grille and LED taillamps. It appeals to urban users, but is not as rugged as the Duster. The length of the Hyrider is 4365 mm, which is longer than the Duster, but both are almost equal in width and height.

It has 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, premium acoustics, modular storage and spacious cabin. It is roomier and practical, suitable for family use.

The interior of the Toyota Hyrider is tech-rich, with 9-inch infotainment, heads-up display, ventilated seats and spacious rear seats. It feels more premium, but doesn't have as much modular storage as the Duster. The boot space in both is around 400-450 litres, but the cabin of Duster seems more comfortable.

The Duster is feature-rich, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, 48-color ambient lighting, keyless entry, multi-drive modes and a panoramic sunroof. It also has Level 2 ADS, which makes it advanced.

The Hyrider has a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, HUD, ventilated seats and 9-inch infotainment. However, it lags behind in some features like Level 2 ADS and head-up display. Both cars offer connected tech, but the Duster offers more value.

Who is first in safety?

Both cars have good safety features. The Duster comes with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, 360-degree camera, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. It also has Level 2 ADAS like adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

The Hyrider also has 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, hill hold, TPMS, 360 camera and ISOFIX. Both have strong body structures, but the Duster's new CMF-B platform provides more structural strength. Duster seems to be a little ahead in safety.

Engine and Performance

The Duster's strong hybrid engine is a 1.8-litre petrol (109 hp) paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, producing a total of 160 hp and 172 Nm torque. It comes with an e-CVT gearbox, which gives better acceleration (0-100 km/h in about 10 seconds).

The Hyrider has a 1.5-litre mild hybrid (102 hp) or strong hybrid (92 hp petrol + electric, total around 114 hp and 122 Nm). Its mileage is up to 27 kmpl, but the performance is less than Duster (12.4 seconds in 0-100 km/h). Hyrider is better in efficiency, but lags behind in power and torque.

Mahindra's magic from road to farm! Sale of tractors increased along with vehicles

Mahindra & Mahindra has achieved excellent sales performance across its various segments in January 2026. The company has seen growth in automotive, commercial vehicles (CVs) and tractors sales. Mahindra, known for its SUVs, reflects its strong position in the Indian market and the success of its new products.

In the automotive segment, Mahindra sold a total of 1,04,309 vehicles, which includes exports. This is an annual growth (YoY) of 24% compared to the same period last year. In January last year, the company had sold about 85,432 units. Sales of utility vehicles (mainly SUVs and passenger vehicles) in the domestic market stood at 63,510 units, which is 25% more than 50,659 units in January 2025.

Shine on the power of SUVs!

This growth has mainly come from the company's popular SUV models like Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO, XUV700, and the recently launched XUV 7XO and electric XEV 9S. These new models have achieved record bookings, with the XEV 9S and 7XO registering a combined 93,689 bookings, strengthening the company's leadership in the SUV segment. Mahindra's SUV strategy has attracted customers, which includes differentiated features, safety and value-for-money offerings.

Increased demand for commercial vehicles

The company also performed brilliantly in the commercial vehicles (CVs) segment. Sales in the domestic CV and 3-wheeler segment reached 37,222 units, registering a growth of 23%. Demand in the LCV (<3.5T) category remained strong as in previous months, especially in logistics and small businesses. This growth is related to economic recovery, infrastructure projects and rural demand.

Agriculture gave a boost

Mahindra showed even more impressive results in the farm equipment segment, i.e. tractors. Domestic sales of Mahindra and Swaraj brand tractors stood at 38,484 units in January 2026, while it was 26,305 units in January 2025. This is a huge increase of more than 46%. This boom in the tractor segment has come due to good monsoon, government schemes, increasing purchasing power of farmers and agricultural mechanization. Mahindra remains India's largest tractor manufacturer and has a strong market share in this segment.

Overall, these January 2026 sales point to Mahindra building on its strong 2025 performance (where the SUV achieved the milestone of 600,000+ units). The company is expecting continued growth in 2026 due to new launches, EV portfolio expansion and plans to increase capacity.

Hyundai is doing wonders in the market on the basis of this SUV, exports also increased along with domestic sales.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has made a blockbuster sale in January 2026. The company recorded the highest ever monthly sales in the country, with total domestic sales of 59,107 units. This figure shows an annual increase of 9.5% compared to January last year (54,003 units). Additionally, the company also set a new record in total sales (domestic + exports), where a total of 73,137 units were sold, which is 11.5% more than the same period last year.

This success reflects Hyundai's strong position in the Indian market and growing confidence among customers. Bumper demand for Hyundai Venue!

Some major models made a special contribution to this record sales of January 2026. Hyundai Venue recorded its highest ever monthly sales with 12,413 units sold. This shows Hyundai's strong hold in the sub-4 meter SUV segment, where the attractive design, features and price of the facelift model are pleasing the customers. Similarly, Hyundai Aura compact sedan also created a record and sold 7,978 units. This model is popular among family-oriented customers. Especially because of its spacious interior, fuel efficiency and modern features.

Exports also increased

The company also performed brilliantly on the export front. 14,030 units have been exported in January, which is 20.9 more than 11,600 units in January last year. This growth reflects Hyundai's global supply chain and growing demand in international markets. Vehicles exported from India mainly go to Africa, Middle East, Latin America and other emerging markets.

These record sales are also a positive sign for the Indian automobile sector. Such strong performance by a major brand like Hyundai as early as 2026 shows that customer demand remains strong. Growing interest in SUV and premium hatchback segments, launch of new models, better financing options and increasing purchasing power in both rural-urban areas have contributed to this growth.

Company's future plan

Going forward, Hyundai is planning to launch new models, with special emphasis on electric vehicles. The company aims to further increase its share in the Indian market, where it is already among the top-3 players. This record of January 2026 is not only a milestone for the company, but also raises hopes of strong growth in 2026 for the entire auto industry.

FasTag Rule Change: Now the hassle of KYC is over! This rule of Fastag changed from today

FasTag Rule Change: Now the hassle of KYC is over! This rule of Fastag changed from today

FasTag Rule Change: A major change in FASTag rules has come into effect from 1 February 2026. This will provide great relief to lakhs of vehicle owners. National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that now the 'Know Your Vehicle' (KYV) process for issuing new Fastag has been completely abolished. This change has been implemented mainly for cars, jeeps and vans (Private 4-Wheelers).

Earlier, even after Fastag activation, KYV verification was mandatory, in which the vehicle documents were re-checked. This caused a lot of trouble to the users. Many times, despite the documents being correct, there was a risk of delay and blacklisting at the toll plaza due to repeated demand for verification. Now a solid plan has been made to completely eliminate this problem.

KYC hassle is over

According to this new rule of NHAI, from February 1, 2026, the entire responsibility of issuing new Fastag has fallen on the banks. The bank will check and verify the vehicle details (like registration number, chassis number etc.) before issuing the FASTag. Once Fastag is activated, no additional KYC or KYV verification will be required. With this, the process of obtaining Fastag has become faster, simpler and requires less paperwork. People buying new vehicles will now be able to easily get Fastag.

What will old Fastag users do?

There is good news for old Fastag users also. Earlier, KYV had to be done routinely every now and then, but now this routine will no longer be necessary. KYV will be required only in special cases, such as complaint of misuse of Fastag, wrong vehicle tagging, technical problem or any other dispute. For example, if there is a complaint that Fastag is linked to a wrong vehicle or toll evasion is taking place, then NHAI or the bank can ask for KYV. Otherwise, normal users are now relieved of repeated verification.

Bank's responsibility increased

With this change, banks have also become more responsible. Banks will now check vehicle details from the VAHAN database before issuing Fastag, which will reduce the possibility of issuing wrong or fake Fastag. Also, if there is any problem after Fastag activation, the bank and NHAI will jointly solve it.

Overall, this simplification in Fastag rules from February 1, 2026 is going to prove convenient for the common man. Drivers traveling on the highway will now face less hassle, toll payment will be faster and time will be saved.
