सरकार ने पेट्रोल में इथेनॉल के उच्च मिश्रण को औपचारिक रूप से शामिल करने के लिए केंद्रीय मोटर वाहन नियमों में संशोधन का प्रस्ताव करते हुए आधिकारिक तौर पर एक मसौदा अधिसूचना जारी की है। सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय के अनुसार, मसौदे में E85 ईंधन (पेट्रोल में 85 प्रतिशत इथेनॉल का मिश्रण) और यहां तक ​​कि E100 का प्रावधान शामिल है, जिससे वाहन पूरी तरह से इथेनॉल पर चल सकते हैं।
